If you can, please donate to protect marriage equality in our great state of Maine. We need everyone's help to protect civil rights in this state. The time is now, NO on 1!
gideonse, we will have a video like this when California goes back to the ballot in 2010 (or 2012 depending on the Federal lawsuit against Prop 8), and the video will be as beautiful as this one. As the song goes, "a change is gonna come".
Go maine. I have been to maine once. and it was beautiful. and felt like a welcoming place. down take and show a ugly side by voting to take away the rights of a minority just because some people think it is wrong.
My religion, the ELCA (Lutheran Church) voted to allow congregations to bless same sex unions, it would be wonderful if I could get married in the lovely state of Maine.
Excellent video. As a PFLAG Dad, I want my son to be a first class citizen everywhere in the US. Unfortunately, in California, he just lost his full and equal rights. I hope that this video helps all of Maine's families retain their rights and influences other states in this battle.
GO MAINE. What a great ad to support marriage equality in your state. Your people should be proud and please show your support for Maine. I just hope the Buckeye state will one day join in the equity fight.
I saw this video on TV for the first time this morning and I thought it was just a Maine tourism commercial, and I loved it. Then I realized it was a marriage equality video, and I loved it even more. I'm sharing it everywhere! Good job :)
I think this ad is, like you said, honest and factual, but we also need to give credit to Equality Maine, MCLU, and GLAD, who were the actual sponsors of this ad, for their hard work as well. Technically, this ad is not a Vote No on 1 ad, rather a statement (on the GOOD side) of an important issue that is being discussed throughout our state right now. I also agree with you and appreciate your support for the No on 1 campaign.
can't understand a word they're saying with the freaky accent, but the images say it all: equality. Wonderful, warm ad without being preachy. Maybe Maine Tourism should air it.
wonderful commercial, hopefully the people of Maine will vote no on 1 and keep marriage equality for it's citizens. Maine is crucial and has the opportunity to show the rest of the nation that it supports freedom of religion and refuses to discriminate towards any group of people.
I wish they could have, but GLAD is a 501c3. They can't make specific candidate/referendum endorsements, but only general issue statements. Still, I hope they'll eventually release more "protect marriage, stop discrimination" ads that make a stronger tie to No on 1.
Excellent - Great TV Spot that takes the high road and shows Maine and all families in a positive and unifying light, sending a clear and American message before marriage equality opponents as a critical first-movers advantage. Well done, but more importantly, thank you :).
I like it. It shows who it's about, and has a simple, honest message. I'd just change the ending from "protect equality" and change it to "protect all Maine's families", because equality isn't the point. Families are the point.
This is beautiful.

This video is an exemplary view at the way America is defined, and as it should damn well stay forever.
Whosoever you choose as a mate, let it be for love and for respect, regardless of gender, and inclusive of acceptance and tolerance.
Go Maine, help lead the fight for equality!
