  • This is beautiful.

  • Ironic, they repealed the gay marriage laws in November :-(

  • SADLY a few weeks ago that all changed.

  • im moved. truly

  • This video is an exemplary view at the way America is defined, and as it should damn well stay forever.

Whosoever you choose as a mate, let it be for love and for respect, regardless of gender, and inclusive of acceptance and tolerance.

Go Maine, help lead the fight for equality!

  • vote for equality Maine!

  • aww so sweet! Come on Maine! Vote for equal marriage!

  • If you can, please donate to protect marriage equality in our great state of Maine. We need everyone's help to protect civil rights in this state. The time is now, NO on 1!

  • aww. i get goosebumps when i watch this.

  • Wow. I really want to live in Maine now. I wish this video was about the rest of America as well.

  • YAY

  • Awesome ad!!

  • Excellent! That's how life should be about any issue. If people are good and honest, leave them be.

  • Right on! Civil rights for everyone!

  • This is amazing. It really captures the essence of what respect for each other means. Well done GLAD!

  • Maine just got soooo 3000 and 8 on all you bitches.

  • Wow ! great job Maine.

Thanks for showing what the rest of America should be doing. Setting a respectful standard.

  • This video made me cry. I wish we'd had something like this in California.

  • gideonse, we will have a video like this when California goes back to the ballot in 2010 (or 2012 depending on the Federal lawsuit against Prop 8), and the video will be as beautiful as this one. As the song goes, "a change is gonna come".

  • it did to me as well!!!!!

  • Yet another reason to love Maine.

  • Stand strong, Maine!

  • Excellent! Go Maine!

  • Go maine. I have been to maine once. and it was beautiful. and felt like a welcoming place. down take and show a ugly side by voting to take away the rights of a minority just because some people think it is wrong.

Vote to keep same sex marriage legal. :)

  • Do NOT let them do to Maine, what they did to California. Go Maine!

  • Maine, you've shown California something so very valuable. Many, many thanks.

  • Yay Maine!

  • So proud of you. So proud of Maine. Thank-you.

    Choke choke;)

  • My religion, the ELCA (Lutheran Church) voted to allow congregations to bless same sex unions, it would be wonderful if I could get married in the lovely state of Maine.

  • This is a really excellent video. Go, Mainers!

  • great vidoe

good as Busy Family from New Jersey

    show the families!

  • Excellent video. As a PFLAG Dad, I want my son to be a first class citizen everywhere in the US. Unfortunately, in California, he just lost his full and equal rights. I hope that this video helps all of Maine's families retain their rights and influences other states in this battle.

  • Awesome! I like this video! Makes me want to move to Maine if that is the values you all have there!!!

  • I don't think Maine will fall for the Mormon and Catholic propaganda that so many in California did!!

  • GO MAINE. What a great ad to support marriage equality in your state. Your people should be proud and please show your support for Maine. I just hope the Buckeye state will one day join in the equity fight.

  • I saw this video on TV for the first time this morning and I thought it was just a Maine tourism commercial, and I loved it. Then I realized it was a marriage equality video, and I loved it even more. I'm sharing it everywhere! Good job :)

  • This is SO powerful!

  • This is great. People need to see this kind of ad more!

  • Thank you to the "NO on 1" campaign for an ad that is honest, factual, and states the true meaning of question 1. It IS about equal rights!!!!

  • I think this ad is, like you said, honest and factual, but we also need to give credit to Equality Maine, MCLU, and GLAD, who were the actual sponsors of this ad, for their hard work as well. Technically, this ad is not a Vote No on 1 ad, rather a statement (on the GOOD side) of an important issue that is being discussed throughout our state right now. I also agree with you and appreciate your support for the No on 1 campaign.

  • can't understand a word they're saying with the freaky accent, but the images say it all: equality. Wonderful, warm ad without being preachy. Maybe Maine Tourism should air it.

  • Vote no on 1!

Very well done. I hope it fails.

    ~A member from California

  • Very good! I wish that we would have had a commercial like that in California.

  • Makes me so proud to be a Mainer!!

  • Great start! Not only does it "feel good", but it also hits pretty hard. No on 1!

  • wonderful commercial, hopefully the people of Maine will vote no on 1 and keep marriage equality for it's citizens. Maine is crucial and has the opportunity to show the rest of the nation that it supports freedom of religion and refuses to discriminate towards any group of people.

I shall be donating to Maine Freedom to Marry!

  • That was a very good commercial! Definitely appeals to those who would be unsure.

  • Beautiful ad!

  • <3 <3 <3 <3 proud of maine ! this it such raw truth

  • Nice ad! Although I do think it should say specifically "vote no on 1" and reinforce that message now.

  • I wish they could have, but GLAD is a 501c3. They can't make specific candidate/referendum endorsements, but only general issue statements. Still, I hope they'll eventually release more "protect marriage, stop discrimination" ads that make a stronger tie to No on 1.

  • Wow, this is very well done.

I wish we had something like this in California before we got ruined.

Stand strong Maine! Don't let out of state nuts turn you into something ugly.

Vote NO on 1 - Equality is an American Value.

  • very beautiful and powerful ad!

  • Excellent - Great TV Spot that takes the high road and shows Maine and all families in a positive and unifying light, sending a clear and American message before marriage equality opponents as a critical first-movers advantage. Well done, but more importantly, thank you :).

  • VOTE NO on 1. Gay couples deserve the exact rights heterosexual couples have.

  • Protect everyone's rights. VOTE NO on 1

  • Great way to start! Well done.

  • Awesome!! GO MAINE!!! THE WORLD IS WATCHING!!! DO WHAT'S RIGHT!! RESPECT HUMAN RIGHTS!!

  • Beautiful!

  • I like it. It shows who it's about, and has a simple, honest message. I'd just change the ending from "protect equality" and change it to "protect all Maine's families", because equality isn't the point. Families are the point.

  • Great Ad....good way to represent ALL families and Fairness!

  • LOVE this. Well done!
