  • Taking beats I already knew and putting the double bass beat was the most helpful. Thanks!

  • This is very easy if you practice enough.

  • I find the Bass beats for "We come out at night" and "Forgotten Faces" extremely difficult.

    Seriously, listen to those songs.

  • who reads music to drums?

  • @starfox878 Drummers....

  • @InnerVision115 who dont have rhythm....

  • @starfox878 That's what metronomes are for, bud...but you were close

  • @InnerVision115 im just sayin every drummer ive seen, known , and heard have never ever used music. i just listen to a song and i play it.

  • @starfox878 I don't use music almost ever either...but obviously you've never seen solo drummers or drummers that are part of an orchestra or band like an orchestra where you have to use music

  • @InnerVision115 then im glad i dont play orchestra

  • why do they make your shirts so tight

  • The beat at 1:49 sound like the bridge in One by Metallica

  • Dave, these exercises have helped me tremendously, to all who are trying these, remember you must start slow then build up your speed!!

  • awesome!!! keep doing more videos!!

  • OKEY!!! Jajaja

  • oh k

  • Good vid, but just one tip:

ACT NATURALLY! You are too nervous... ._.

  • @MrWizy939 i dont have : (

  • the 2nd to last sounds like the beginning of 10,000 Fists by Disturbed

  • so gay

  • damn simple lessons what doesnt matter everybody needs to start somewhere.

  • these lessons are sick, ima sub

  • 2:13 bass is a disturbed song

  • @OpsTsume ten thousand fists :P

  • What is the exact ride I know its a hhx but what size and model?

  • i have a question man. i feel way more comfortable when i play my double bass patterns by using my ankles rather than lifting up my whole leg to play the drum. i have never seen a drummer play the drums like i do. is this bad news for me? :/

  • @bondonkid101 if your just fluttering away with your ankles youll never get a good sound out of your bass and your bass will fade away into the rest of the sound and wont be heard. It sucks, but you gotta learn how to lift up your legs and just push em out, unless youve been doing heel down...in that case I would suggest playing with leg weights to build up some muscle to really push the notes out

  • @bondonkid101 if it works for you keep doing it.

  • at 1:15 sounds like mettalica-one xD

  • @giantslurpee111 Except Lars Ulrich does 8 kick instead of 4 x) It's even better :D

  • @giantslurpee111 one is played like that you just need to speed it up

  • @MrWizy939 then they man the fuck up and play heel-toe :D

  • He's playing in socks??? lolol

  • Ok!

  • Thanks for the free lessons, eh! Been a big help for me to get the hang of DB playing after 30+ years of playing Single Bass. It's challenging but I haven't been this excited about playing in a long time. So, thanks again, eh. Take off you hoser's!

  • 2:13, SURVIVOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @EdvonSnitsel76 That sounds like 10,000 fists from Disturbed doesn't it?

  • @5starburrito Ya thats why i said it lol. i thought i was the only one haha.

  • they should change this video to how to play one

  • he sounds canadian eh? lol

  • "One" - amateur version 1:15

  • ok I know how to control the double bass tho..my problem is that it hurts after just a few mins!

  • @GoLDraG0N you'll get used to it after a while, just get your mind on something else while drumming.

  • @GoLDraG0N do you gallop the kick pedals? i have that problem, i'm uncoordinated. your calfs and shins will get stronger with practice. like wankers cramp, the pain goes away with more practice.

  • @rickcrouch ya i pretty much lift my foot from the pedal for more speed which makes it hurt so bad, but even when i leave it on the pedal it still hurts after 10 secounds....but I do my best...ive been a drummer for 8 years and got addicted to double bass xD

  • ok

  • 39 people only have one leg.........(dam butt pirates)

  • Beat for Disturbed Ten Thousand Fists at 2:11

  • @sircwreenactor I was just about to comment that

  • IRON COBRA ♥

  • @risagainst95 nah, Speed Cobra is better

  • Ten Thousand Fists at 2:11

  • 1:50 is one metallica, LOL slow motioned

  • @Ilyasid Nah. One has 6 bd between the snares.

  • 2:14 is disturbed! lol

  • "okay" is really funny.

  • HE SAID ALRITE!! Instead of OK. I thought that was cool

  • @MrWizy939 probably more dont have :D but 37 are nerds who don't like drums:D

  • I want to have THIS Drumkit!!

  • @Hoyenwey nuh uh. 1:26 he says alright

  • @A7Xblood ah ha just a single time

  • Is it just me or does beat 5 sound like the intro to Ten thousand fists by disturbed?

  • @TheThermodan If he was doubling the bass drum on the toms, it would be exactly that.

  • he always says 'okay' hahaha at the last time he said 'allright' :D

  • @MrWizy939 lol

  • less talking more drumming please

  • you get what you pay for.

  • this dude looks like dale from step brothers O.o

  • @darkholicz

Makes me want to t-bag his set lol

  • @olsalesd lol

  • with my axis pedals I could be playing 32nd notes to his a16ths. hahaha I love axis pedals <3333

  • Pfft these beats are piss easy!

  • @SoundOfSorrowSOS Its like ur saying to a 3rd grade math teacher "bhah, that's easy .. noob" .. It may be easy for you.. but not to beginners..

  • @upbeatmantis86 I wasn't calling anyone a noob. These are pretty simple beats.

  • @SoundOfSorrowSOS yeah that what is it .. basic

  • @tumeehful English?

  • thanks guys this helped alot ;)

  • okay :)

  • 3 is a slower version of One by Metallica :)

  • "okay!" ... "all right!"

  • and 1:48 it's like Metallica's One double bass pattern

  • when i play these kind of beats (playing Slayer sometimes =/) I usually break the drumsticks...

  • you shouldn't rest the beaters against the head. They should "bounce" off, just like your sticks do!

  • Very good man...

  • the first is the best.4 is good too :D

  • Lol he looks so concentrated even when he's playing something simple.

  • 1:42

Metallica - One, before the solo :D

  • @LesnyDziadius yeah i noticed that too ;p the beat after that sounds like disturbed

  • Okay.

  • Anyone know a good double pedal for heel toe? My recent DW Drums 7000 Series broke after a long time's use broke, and I couldn't use the heel-toe style on them. Any suggestions anyone?

  • @C4rbonNeon axis longboards, really great for heeltoe play

  • i need a new double bass pedal :/

  • do you need a good double bass pedal to make to make it sound good, because i can do a perfect blast beat or what ever on the ground (with out a pedal) but on my actual pedal i just suck...any feedback?

  • @wkropelin almost anyone can do it on the floor, on a pedal is completely different. pedals have springs which resist you when you push down, but help the beater return to its proper resting position, whenever your beater hits the drum it rebounds off and you, along with the springs, have to fight that to get another hit. Also on low to mid-range quality double bass pedals there is slight lag on the left foot which over time you learn to compensate for

  • @wkropelin

Try adjusting your double bass spring. You probably need it looser so its easier to push down.

  • shame i can already do all of those, otherwise this lesson would come in handy for me

  • OK LOL

  • 2:03 sounds like the intro from disturbed´s song "ten thousand fists"^^

  • @SuperKokojumbo i thought that 2

  • i think FDL should do a lesson on breakdowns!!

  • hoe kay :) lol

  • OKAY. weh wilh playh deh sixtenth nots on teh dubble bas! OKAY!

  • 1:50 playing "One" in 4/4 i think

  • @Traedeer One as in by metallica is in 4/4, And Lars plays 6 bass notes then his snare, Dave was playing 4 bass notes...

  • @metallicaguy85 the section of one with double bass is 6/4, the first 2 verses and the choruses are 4/4 and th intro is 4/4 with the occasional 2/4. it can all be shoehorned into 4/4 though.

  • OKAY

  • the guy knows his shit

  • I can't do fuckin beat 1 properly. I just got a double pedal yterday and I suck ass at it. I can only play slow fills and grooves.

  • Can that set sound any better

  • quarters on the ride/hi-hat with double bass sound more metal IMO

  • this a dam good learning for those starting double bass. tq so much.

  • Beat 4 = Bad Blood intro by Escape the Fate.

  • i bought pearl double pedal yesterday and i can play all those beats

  • @ArttuBoeka they aren't that difficult ;)

  • Thanks man! that was really useful except im used for a bit faster beats

  • soooo gay moving his hands when he's speaking...

  • Hookay.

  • What kind of HHX cymbals are those?

  • he has some canadien tities :D

  • this guy is soooo canadian

  • this guy is soooo canadian

  • beat 4 sounds like one by metallica

  • @gorkamorka123 Except that Lars' plays it 32nd notes on the bass.

  • @3ootehmovie

Lars is a hack. Everyone knows that.

  • @ZeppelinRules

    Yup.

  • Dont get a cheap pedal I would say go with an axis from ebay or something like I did yeah I paid 330 for it but hell if it does not break it is worth it and it is really strong so it wont

  • if he was playing all of those 2x as fast they would be interesting

  • @mmnjk99 even that would not be impressive, seriously this guy doesnt even have the right foot technique. you arent supposed to lift you feet of the pedal board. Dave wackel covers this 100x better from a video in the 80's. If this guy got paid for this HIRE ME, can do so much more then this out of shape dude.

  • @metalgtar Doesn't really matter much about foot technique, or any technique really, as long as you're comfortable with how you play, and it still sounds good too. That's how it should be, in my opinion.

  • @noogai132 For me sucking and being okay with it is not an option.

  • dang i wish i had a double bass pedal

    aren't they like $250+?

  • @AcdcTheRunePure u can get a nice beginners double bass pedal for $70-100 go on Musiciansfriends

  • @UFCblink182fanatic k thanks!

  • What tom heads are you using, they are evans but which label?

and you have a direct drive pedal, so its gong to me a lot smoother than us who have chain drive pedals >= P

  • the eliminator demon drives are fucking dope

  • 9000's are awesome, great upgrade. i came from iron cobras and love them

  • r those evans?

  • beat 4 sounds like One slowed down

  • Hey r those yamaha double bass pedals any good? I'm thinkin between a tama iron cobra and a yamaha.....
