  • The name of the song?

  • @hcctiti12 What song?

  • @dll0990 Yes

  • :_) Mit einem weinenden und lachenden Auge.

  • This ending make you on one way, been sad and angry they never met... Yet.. On the other side, it makes you happy... The look on max's face.. He died happy. Its a happy yet sad ending, a perfect, ending. One of the most butiful movies I yet to seen.

  • When this movie ended, I felt like someone I knew and loved had died. And I guess that's just what happened.

  • I love this move. Love it, love it, love it!

  • 'He smelt like liquorice and old books, she thought to herself, as tears rolled from her eyes ... the colour of muddy puddles.'

Perfect ending. This film deserved so many more awards.

  • you are best friend you are my only friend

  • This ending made me teary, and I too have Asperger's Syndrome/High-functioning Autism.

  • I had never heard of this movie until last night when I couldn't decide on anything else to watch on Netflix. I have to say this movie was one of the funniest and saddest films I have ever seen. I'm really surprised it did not get an Oscar nomination for best foreign film. I had only watched it once and before it was over I knew I wanted to get the blu-ray. A very underrated film and a beautifully told story. Was hard for me to hold back tears and I'm a 30 year old guy.

  • Wonderful Movie- SAD, HAPPY AND DARKLY HUMOUROUS. lOVE IT

  • :'( Ah! It sucks to be emotional! Such a beautiful movie.

  • Heh, so brilliant.

  • BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW

  • Even though they didn't meet in person, i think Mary had met Max through their letters, because Max expressed himself in the best way through his letters (in my opinion). There were positives to take from the ending such as Mary knowing that Max had forgiven her, seeing what the letters meant to Max and Mary having her baby. Also nice to see Len get over his agoraphobia. :)

  • The letters on the ceiling had me bawling like a baby.

  • This is that sadist part of the movie ever! It's impossible to bottle your feelings in it!

  • When I saw the letters on the ceiling, my brain....smiled.

  • And the animals, the bird and fish, both caged, seem to be fairly moved by the whole scene ... and proud of humanity (there is still hope yet) ... afterall, the bird and fish were Max's best friends (or children) and once this outsider comes into their sanctuary, there is no protest because she is essentially their mother (or, a friend of Max's is a friend of ours), the abstract letters now made tangible

  • I think it's a fantastic film about keeping something old-fashioned, friendship, alive. Beyond the hyper technology of social networking and such, Mary and Max coax each other out of her and his shell. One could say that the ending is too depressing or melodramatic or convenient, but I think it's just right -- they could never meet face to face. That would defeat the purpose of their pin-pal bond and bring it into an ordinary veneer.

  • this movie is so touching and im not the kind of person that cries at sad movies but this one made me cry

  • One of the Best Movies of 2009, if only it had been nominated for Best Animated Feature.

  • Great movie.

I wonder about Mary's baby though, I mean, she drank and took pills while she was pregnant.

  • The color of mary just stands out in the room

  • @AustralianAuzzie Yeah, I noticed that too. He and his apartment were always that color but her being there is a real stark contrast of life and death, as if all of the vibrancy of living has been transferred into Mary and her baby. The smiling past passing the torch to the smiling future.

  • @Hellzyead I love the movie so much. It truly s the greatest movie ever to walk the universe!

  • I love that touching ending!

  • Does anybody knows the name of this song? Sounds absolutely sad and beautiful. Thanks!

  • don't download that version...try Puccini :P

  • @cronknu how does this piece called? (puccini's work)

  • @demonheadtakano it's Puccini: Coro a Bocca Chiusa (Humming Chorus) from "Madama Butterfly"

  • @beavisul thank you :D!

  • esse final e triste

  • I own this movie. And every time I watch it, I cry, especially at this scene.
