Neither the interviewer nor the researcher are very good. Ms. Stoddard says that Thelma died of carbon monoxide poisoning-- then later says its murder. A good reviewer would have caught her on this, but the blonde looks like she should be making cupcakes instead. She also is wrong about the injuries--says that the only injury to Thelma was a spot of blood---how does one explain her cracked tooth, ribs, etc? You don't get that falling against a steering wheel. 1 and 1 do not equal 2 here.
@RocketAgeMagician The proof was in the dete.'s observations and/or coroner's report--broken nose, blood coming out of T.'s mouth, possible chipped tooth--in other words--these r not injuries 1 gets by turning on an engine to keep warm (didn't u see the photo?). Its so apparent TT got roughed up by the mob before they turned on the engine & she died of aphixiation--all very suspicious--& Thelma's spirit wants it all cleared up very apparently. A bright life unfairly smothered.
@windstorm1000 I've seen the pictures, of course, and there are none of those injuries evident. In fact, the pictures of Thelma in the morgue are easily available (find a death.com) and her face is flawless - still has her make-up on. There's a post-autopsy picture, too - she had none of those injuries. The coroner's report lists nothing like that, either - those are all myths that were part of the coverup for Roland West.
@RocketAgeMagician You didn't see the picture of her in the car w blood trickling from her mouth? I tried finding her photo in death.com, but all I got were local funeral parlors and ads for caskets--creepy. Her facial injuries maybe a moot point--why would she be in the car and died from carbon monoxide? Whether it was the mob or West, she was murdered & a grave injustice was done. This case is somewhat similar to the Natalie Wood one--the possesive lover/husband??
@windstorm1000 No blood in pics - check again. Not "moot" - you claimed she had broken nose & injuries, morgue photos on "find a death" (not "death") dot com shows that's not true. Article in Feb 1987 LA Magazine used first hand sources Hal Roach and Zasu Pitts' son - explained how she got in car to leave, West, drunk, followed, shut garage door after she started car. She was overcome. No murder. Just sad accident. West confessed on deathbed, but close friends knew the truth anyway.
Thelma was NOT locked out. May Whitehead had given her key and it had been found in her handbag. West stated that frequently that Thelma had woken him up by throwing stones or smashing a window to get inside if she wanted, on a cold night in December she did not do this. I'm not typically a conspiracy theorist, but I think it's very likely that something else went on that night that we'll never know about.
It's always more interesting to believe a celebrity's death is murder or suicide, but it seems logical that Thelma did actually die by accident if you read ALL the different info available. As regards to her death being a mob hit, that's just not plausible. If the mob wanted you dead, you were dead and they didn't worry about making it look like an accident.
The book, Hot Toddy, maintains that Lucky Luciano had a hit put on Thelma Todd. She refused to sell a popular restaurant on the Pacific Coast Highway that she owned to the Mob. She was unfortunately attracted to dangerous men like her father, including her husband and Luciano.
Jodie, you said twice in this interview you thought it was a mob hit. I think you are correct and your guest is wrong. Everyone to their own opinion, but come on, I think the public knows what the real story is.
What a line of baloney! It was common knowledge by everyone Thelma Todd was murdered. She was threatened by the mob, lived in fear and took to carring a gun for protection. She was knocked out and locked in the garage to die. After all these years the cover up continues.
miss todd was found bloody & bruised with cracked ribs & she had a tooth knocked out.... somebody murdered her....possibly lucky luciano....look it up on wikipedia
@bette1908 Her lip was bruised, her face streaked with blood, her nose broken and a dental filling dislodged, but her make-up unsmudged, and this is easily explained by suggesting that Thelma had struck the wheel with her head. Her fingernails were undamaged, indicating a lack of struggle. What troubles me is that her chauffer a brown Packard with its lights off, parked or approaching, before he left. She had been cheating on DiCiccio with an unknown "San Francisco businessman".
@bette1908 I totally agree--read my post at the front. You'd think someone would step forward after all these years. There shouldn't be any fear left--all the principals are long dead.
Actually..Ms.Todd only did two films with The Marx' "Monkey Business" &"Horsefeathers"..she did a few films with L&H and her film series with
Zasu Pitts and Patsy Kelly.

@windstorm1000 But where is the proof that she had those injuries? They didn't occur. Just more obfuscation for what really happened.

@mpjrdldn The book Hot Toddy is not a good resource at all. Very unreliable.

What a bunch of crappola. The only thing this heavy weight broad is an expert of is B.S.
She says that Thelma died of carbon monoxide then later in the interview she says Thelma was murdered.

@glawsny I agree. Those cowards striking a defenseless woman. But she had more courage than they would ever knonw.

I DON'T BELIEVE IT! It was a mob hit. Thelma was beaten up and thrown in the car by mafia hitmen. That's the truth. It was Lucky Luciano.
