@rachelkuz two negatives = a positive. also, x1 is the first number in the first set of points, x2 is the first number in the second set of points. y1 is the second number in the first set of points, y2 is the second number in the second set of points. Like writing a pair of coordinates.

@DuVaLPS3 no, its positive. after solving for m, if you get something like

-2/-3 which is negative 2 over negative three, it becomes POSTIVE 2/3

remember, two negatives make a positive. always.

now, if ur slope ends up as -2/3 which is negative 2 over positive three, then u leave it that way.

if u end up with -4/2, the slope will become -2.

did ur teacher teach u the rules for multiplying, adding, and subtracting and dividing integers??

@aedenteguz  If only it was that simple. For example, there is alot of math involved with logging. And in buisiness, you need to manage money, and you need to learn how to add taxes and simple interest, all learned in math. The schools should be changed indeed, but not like you say. If you paid someone to redo your floor, they would need to measure and fit each sheet of wood, tile, etc. If they didn't know how, your flooring wouldn't fit. If you wanna learn about buisiness, go to that college.

guys quick tip makes it a bit easier if you write x1 y1 and x2 y2 over the numbers before you put them in so u wont get confused.

you need to put in slope intercept form wich is y=mx+b m being slope and b being you y intercept

Well I'm glad your not changing the curriculum.

Finding volumes of shapes, yes lets take that out of our curriculum because learning length times width times height is so difficult. And by the way if you knew anything about volumes application in real life you wouldn't say there useless. You may not apply them right now (because youre not very intelligent) but they have a very large application in sciences today. Then again your probably a grade 9 so I'd expect this.
