Hello there, I was thinking about either purchasing this keyboard or the Corsair Vengeance K60. Any suggestions/recommendations?

  • @crazyfooInc If you can get the RK-9000RE for the price I got it for ($80), then it's absolutely worth it and I believe the better deal. The Vengeance is more media-friendly but some of the keys aren't mechanical, and the switches are exposed (which may or may not be a bad thing). Personally I'd stick with the non-gimmicky RK-9000RE but it's up to you =P

  • @hkmix

Okay, thanks for the great insight and recommendations!; I'm going for my first PC-build and have a slight idea of what I'm doing. xD

  • OEM: Costar

    FILCO, Das, WASD keyboards, Rosewill.

Rosewill's are not prelubricated. Otherwise, fairly on par with quality

  • @tch204 Indeed, I had a squeaky space bar and backspace that I pulled out and lubricated.

  • newegg in charge of eco friendly packaging

  • i was looking at this or a filco...want the red switches.

  • @ballsthatclank Go for this one! Rosewill has almost the same build quality as Filco!

  • i dont quite get it...cherry mx red is backlit?does the keyboard lights up red?

  • @mikenmbr1 It's not backlit. It has a red metal plate that the keys sit on.

  • @hkmix thanks

  • @hkmix thanks..never had mechanical keyboard before so i am sorry for a dumb question...

  • @mikenmbr1 No worries, never a dumb question.

  • @mikenmbr1 It's the type of switch the keys use. I think MX Reds are a "lighter" version of Blacks. I THINK I'd like blacks better, browns better still, and probably blues the best.

  • @wolfpup3 Thanks...after doing a lot of research i went with thermaltake meka g1 with black switches,it is my first mechanical keyboard, and i am very very satisfied with it...switched from logitech g110 (which is a very good keyboard by the way)....

  • im using that same logitech keyboard!

    think its worth the switch?

  • @magicianscratch It highly depends on how much you type and what you want the keyboard for. One of my biggest gripes with the Logitech is that it was 2KRO and certain key combinations didn't work; I also type a ton (Skype and all, I type at ~90-110 WPM), and this keyboard does allow me to type for a much longer time without getting fatigued.

  • Mine came protected with green foam peanuts.

  • for the paper....use it as kindling....=)

  • Thumbs up for not reading out the specs on the box! ;-)

  • i bought one of these a few days ago, it just got here and its a joy to type on before im done thinking about that im going to type the key is already register its that quick and its pretty much silent too unless your bottoming out the keys with every press. other than that id recommend this to anyone looking to get into the mechanical side of keyboards. the feel is simply pleasurable and amazing.

  • Be thankful they even bothered to protect you from the hassle of returning a keyboard damaged due to shipping.

  • @shogrran This is true but there's a point where it's just enough, and then there's this. =\

  • @hkmix haha.. Like receiving a gift for Christmas and you thought it was some huge item turns out its all box.

  • @hkmix

I have pretty much the same opinion. Yes the box is large but better safe than sorry.

When my Unicomp keyboard arrived it was basically just wrapped in a thin sheet of plastic and free floating in the box with no packaging material. One of the keys was even off the keyboard.

For this reason I would rather have too much packaging than not enough. This kind of good packaging I have seen in Newegg and Leopold especially.

  • @53iBro Yeah, I guess. The paper is also good in that it's actually recyclable whereas foam/plastic bag stuffers are not.

Either way, I just ended up recycling the mass of paper that came with my keyboard. Using it right now, and it's a pretty darn nice keyboard.

  • man this keyboard is exactly like my Ducky Cherry Black.

  • @mrwong05 cherry reds and blacks are very similar, but blacks require more force. reds are very light, and used commonly in gamin

  • @RiddimPirate Reds are not commonly used in gaming. Most gaming keyboards brands use blacks, blues and less commonly browns.

Also red keys have been in low supply in the market for quite a while.
