  • Looks good and super familiar. Basically identical to my 100 from '79. Run Seafoam in the gas to the recommended level and get a can of Decarb spray or similar BRP product and follow the dosing instructions. It will make it run so much better. The new champion QL77JC4 plugs run great in this motor. I run Amsoil Saber Outboard at 80:1 in mine. On my Carlson I regularly run the motor to 5800 wide open for the 2 mile stretch across my lake. 6000 - 6200 isn't uncommon depending on conditions. Prope

  • @thefuzzbutt I did a couple of times, it still ran well without a decarb and I ran the same plugs. I sold the motor just this year and replaced it with a merc 1000 , the merc goes 5mph faster than the johnson.

  • I have a suzuki dt 90 v4 .The suzuki and yamaha v4's were and are still the best motors.

  • Ill go with jap shit...yamahas have the best bite...less weight etc...

  • Nice Motor B... ! If anyone believes Johnson/Evinrude/OMC is not the best or fastest then you need to ask the question, Who/What holds the Outboard Speed Record to date.

  • wow that runs really smooth especially for an old carbed 2 stroke, i'm serious i've never seen an old v4 run so smooth...i got rid of my old yamaha 130 that was from 1988 and i could never get that thing to run smooth on idle and i've rebuilt the carbs on that thing so many times i lot count and i used stabil on every fill up, i also changed almost all the electrical components on it and had the timing perfect....i repowered with a 2003 115 hp evinrude ficht, the one fixed by bombardier

  • @fishaholic2012 Thanks, I've had it 3 seasons now and haven't had to do anything except replace the rectifier, next spring i'm going to go through the carbs and do the impeller.

  • @cpgixxer you're welcome, if you maintain these motors they will last a lifetime. most outboards die from lack of maintenance, overheating, lack of oil in the fuel or not enough oil going to the engine and salt water corrosion and not from wearing out....people that take good care of their motors have pushed their outboards to well over 10,000 hours and haven't had a problem. good luck!

  • we found out it the four piston it has gray water stuff the marine place said it need new gasest and headgaset.. but it still run good it use all of gas. but johnson are the best

  • No electric fuel pump either

  • the cables going into the motor were it connect to the links that connect to the carb link we adjusted a little more that wat made us going 25 we are looking for some one that can send pic to my email of their motor were the throllte link and idles srew is their sparking all four it and the butterfly are good it just need tuned were the links are

  • need help on a jonhson v4 1994 90hp adjust for throttle if can send pic of adjust to help it only go 25 need major help please and thankz

  • @MrAnthoney15 What rpm is it running at?

  • @cpgixxer it seem very low we replace alot of thing on that motor it almost brand new looking, we dont know if the cables going into the motor is in the right place im trying to find some to send pic of the adjust going into the motor. it only go 25mph

  • @MrAnthoney15 Look to see if the carb butterflies are wide open at full throttle, you can do this with the motor off of course. Could be that it's just out of adjustement, you should have thumbscrews going to the throttle to allow for adjustment. You may not have spark on all 4 as well, may only be 3 firing. Check for spark with a spark tester, I lost 2 once due to a bad ground and had 1/10 of the power. Best bet if you plan on doing repairs is to get a factory OMC manual for your motor.

  • well my good time engine for me is yamaha`s and mariner good engines but you can beit the sound of a v4

  • @yamaoutboard Yamaha gets my thumbs up

  • thanks mate

  • I jus' got one :)

My boat looks virtually the same too, from the pic. Gonna take me awhile to restore the boat - in the meantime pleeze post some vids of the thing running on water, so I know what to look forward to..?

  • @Capnwabbit Go look at my rectifier diagnosis video, midway I run it on the lake full open, I do appro 40mph on mine, enjoy your new boat, i'm sure you'll love it

  • These V4's are very tough motors. I just finished rebuilding a friends 115 that had a bad piston in it. On top of that, it was getting water in another piston that was giving him starting issues, yet there was no damage to that piston.

  • To be fair the last two motors i have had have been OMC a 3cyl and then a V4 ocean runner both great motors but I know have a V6 merc and it is smoother and a bit more refined than the OMC

  • Best, longest lasting outboards everbuilt. Ignore that faggot etrician... I've had my dealingswith him..... he's a gay mercury lover. You need to ask him why they don't make those Mercury Inline 6s (Tower of Powers) anymore? Those were the sorriest pieces of crap that was ever invented for the outboard industry. Looks like Mercury now makes the V series like OMC did.. hmm

  • They ran the v4 design for over 30 yrs, they are killer motors. I've read the stuff between you and him, he knows nothing.

  • They don't make V4 cross flows anymore too you know, Mercury's inline 6 was not a piece of crap, Very powerful and dependable motors when used within there limit and maintained properly. They dominated over OMC V4's in racing up until the late 70's till the V6's came out. I like OMC/BRP too. Good motors. I am currently rebuilding a 1975 OMC 70hp btw.

  • Etrician55 asks Why don't they make them anymore? Emissions. Same reason they stopped making the most dependable car engine ever made, the Chrysler slant 6.

  • Ya don't even bother with this guy, he's a hater, calls people faggots and women c*nts , brags about being some sort of a martial artist (my 12 yr old female blackbelt neighbour could probably kick his ass) and all this 3000 miles away behind a keyboard and his comcast connection

  • Let me say it clearly, these old cross flow V4's (before oil injection) were the best friggen motors EVER built. Ever.

  • Why don't they make the 396 CI Chev engine anymore or the 426 Wedge? You could ask those questions all day long.

  • That's why they call them Foreverudes

  • I got a carbed 150 johnson ocean runner and I just snicker to my self seeing those 4 jokes lag behind me.

  • yea man love that era motors they are da bomb

  • @polariskid13 I've had a 1990 90hp Johnson for two years now on a 1976 15' tri-hull.Run 87 octane,50:1 any oil,and Seafoam.Kicking ass everywhere we go.
