Your voice is not bad, but this song requires a more powerful voice than you have. Plus, the backing track is very close to the original, which was Phil Spector, a major wall of sound. So where is the reverb on your voice? It's all dry. That alone would kill it for most great singers. Even Tina had cavernous reverb going. Plus, your lead vocal is mixed way too much out in the front. My suggestion, short of realizing your limitations and forgetting about it, is to drench your vocal in reverb.
I always appreciatte feedback , thanks for taking the time to give your opinion. This is one of the first songs I tried to mix so I realise it's not the best it could be. The reason the vocals are weeker than I would like is because I have neighbours who wouldn't appreciatte my singing this as I do with my band. To record this to a better standard I would need to do it in a studio where I could sing at full pelt without worrying about how loud I am. Cheers for the tips on the mixing though
