  • "I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ...They only heard the report: “The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.” And they praised God because of me." (Gal 1:11-12, 23-24)

Paul is preaching the same. Hard to believe they would praise Paul for preaching a different Gospel than Matthew.

  • What am I, made out of book-buying money???

  • @nbfzman :-D

  • Did I see a picture of Rev. Cwirla???

  • If you need further reference to the Eucharist in the BIble, Exodus 12 is a good place. Sacrificial lamb must be firstborn without blemish (like Jesus), all flesh must be consumed (like the bread), blood must be put on all doorways to save you from the destroyer(the blood saves you from God's wrath) the destroyer was to kill all the firstborn(Adam was the first man, our old Adam must be destroyed) the blood caused death to pass by(Christ's blood frees us from sin)Isreal leaves Egypt free....

  • @moccothelocco sometimes i think that all the customs that Israel received at the first covenant with the sprinkling of the blood, is so they would recognize the new covenant when it was presented to them through Christ.

  • @Quinntonia No. I am counseling him to answer the question the test is asking. If the prof asks him to write what he "believes," and he writes what the prof has taught, that would be lying. But the prof is not testing him on what he believes. He is testing him on the course he taught. 1+1+1 are symbols we use to learn an abstract concept. But answering "1" would be marked "wrong," even though 1+1+1=1 in Trinitarian theology. It is about context and answering the specific question. +pax+

  • @Revfiskj Pastor, thank you very much for this answer, I appreciate it.

  • Great reading list! I missed the reference to "Q"? Of course the bunnies and kitties are always cute!

  • supralapsarian. What a great word. :-)

Also, would be appropriate to say that the bread in Holy Communion is bread and is Jesus in a conceptually similar way to how Jesus is man and Jesus is God?

  • Petersen elevation ftw!

    And MEGATRON! roflmaozedong

  • Hey...you used MY question :-D

  • The great Dr. Scaer once said that talking about Q is like trying to have a serious conversation about Santa Claus.

  • The day Q is rejected or even factually disproved by archaeology (it already has, but once they find something so loud and clear that they can't deny it) entire "scholarly" libraries will become obsolete. Course curricula will be rewritten mid-semester. The entire redactionary, form-critical method hinges on this hypothesis never being proved false.

  • "a total election of the world in Jesus Christ" refers to all who are in Christ being elect, not "all in the world are elect in Jesus Christ." right?

  • @mhburdick "All the promises of God are yes is *in* Jesus." There is no limited atonement. All in the world are elect *in* Jesus, but not every person in the world will be one of The Elect, for many will insist on refusing to believe the electing Word which calls, gathers and enlightens. This is a mystery. 2+2=5 It's impossible to talk about with out bordering on error. It's not meant to be talked "about," but to be done - to be preach: "*You* are elect in Christ!"

  • To add to this... I would highly recommend reading J. Budziszewski's book "How to Stay Christian in College".
