If anyonewanted to see more of Tex he has a place in Cooperstown NY.A Shrine I guess they call it.His favorite western suite and his best guitar and his records. I think its at the folk art hall.
When Tex first came to Massena he stayed & worked at 'The Woodlawn Hotel". I used to hang out there as a kid. The owner's son was my best friend! We used to watch the band from the kitchen doorway. That was one heck of an evening. He drove a white or pale pink Harley that was pinstriped by a fellow that traveled the area in the summer and set up shop at the Sunoco at Summerset and Willow?.
Looking at the comments this was My great Uncle. Sooooo cool. I didnt get to see him much but I have some pictures of him posted on my facebook. I am gonna make sure our famil sees this. He had a brother and two sisters. Grace, Doug, and Lucille. Lucille was my Grandmother.
Tex Montana was my great Uncle. WOW!!!!! So awesome to put his name on You tube and this comes up. I am not 100% sure but he lived in New York. His real last name was Sprouse. My family called him Buddy.
This was great to hear Tex.I remember going to the Diamond in the 60's & early 70's.Does any one no the name of the song he is singing and is there any more of his songs available.
I seem to remember the steel player in Tex's band with a fantastic voice (he would do Four in the Morning and make the girls drool) Do you know if he's still around and was he related to Tex? Thanks for the video. We had so many good times at the Horseshoe!
no..that was his stage country western name...he was a musician and bar owner basically..old honky tonk bands he featured..did weddigns and other gigs in my area for years. my uncle's brother played with him.
