Not so. First Blood was the best in the series *because* of the character development. The other ones were almost parodies of themselves, though.

Rambo wasn't a terrible film, but it was completely ove the top gory and hard to watch.

Rambo is a terrible film, unlike Rocky Balboa which was a touching reflection on past glories.
