  • hey how does the 18 volt mod work? how's it installed? :) cool video

  • "Cemetery Gates" and Outro to "Floods". Everything else is just me jamming (original)

  • What songs you play in this video? Please, answer me.

  • what gauge strings do you use bro?

  • Now when you say volt mod,you are modding the battery voltage I assume to make more power?

  • @Hexomazifra This mod used 2 - 9 volts in series, instead of 1, effectively doubling the voltage, 18 Volt Mod.

  • You're like the 8th person who's demoed this guitar out using "Cemetery Gates" lol!

  • @WolfieBlack1 Had no idea, hope I was the first! :P

  • dude first off that afucking damn hot and sexy sounding gutar that im gonna get soon and u rock! keep it up. btw how long u been playing guitar for?

  • @DeeDeeSmart Thanks bro, some years.

  • FLOODS FTW :)

  • Cemetery gates \./

  • I have this guitar like new with accessories and hard case....send me a message for more info

  • Hey, in your opinion is this model better or the GX version with Dirty Fingers pickups? Gonna buy 1 of the two, kinda leaning on this so far, your opinion would greatly help :D

  • I just got this guitar (new) and the paint is peeling like hella on near the top strap lock where the freboard meets the body...yours have that? :| I'm thinking of returning.

  • @surgeyX My finish has been flawless fo some years, should return

  • @guitarguy0709rb

Yep...returned it and got an ESP eclipse instead...cost me twice as much but the craftsmanship is second to none :) I miss having 24 frets though...Matt Heafy's supposed to have some custom epiphones this year...I think both 6 string and 7 string LP's (I believe his models will be replacing the prophecy's since they're discontinued), so it will be cool to see how they come out.

  • Love the black strings.

  • This or the LTD EC 401?

  • @andrezknz id go with the ec man. but this is an amazing guitar

  • @andrezknz

    LTD > EPIPHONE

  • Is that a ebony fretboard? The specs say that but all the pictures in the web seems to be rosewood!

  • great guitar and skills))) what is it played in 1.41-1.54?????????? it's fucking tasty:)))

  • @zombiezombie1977 ??????????????????????please help i feel like i've heard that 1000 times (1.41-1.54)but i can't recall it:(((

  • @zombiezombie1977 That would be one of the few moments of originality in the video ;) I like playin around with pull-offs to open strings, do that up an octave with some minors thrown in sounds cool :)

  • whats with the strings they ;ook black? are they DR strings or something

  • which one is bettr this or bc rich nj deluxe warbeast?

  • Im looking to buy this but all the online stores have it in the "midnight ebony" finish. some people say it is a lot darker than it looks in the online pics. can you plz tell me what finish yours is in, i think its "trans black"?

  • @calthar13 Mine's "Midnight Ebony" I think it looks pretty close to the online pics if not a touch lighter, looks sick in sunlight ;)

  • Well dang man, that had some pretty great tone for that small of an amp.

  • @Hexomazifra Ha Thx, couldn't bring the marshall stack to the apartment was in at the time... Well, I could have... but wouldnt have lasted too long ;) Had to make do with volt mods and pedal effects!

  • are these black strings?

  • could you play rock n roll on EMGs?? Stuff like Guns N Roses ACDC those kinda bands? I like this guitar and might get one but i dont wanna get if i can only play metal i mean i like to play metal but i also like blues/rock/hard rock.

  • @PurpleVenom777

Like OP said, the classic humbuckers of gibson provide a richer, more classic tone, which I think is good for gnr or acdc... If you're into that music, I would not consider buying a guitar with emg pu's ;)

  • @sgt1337 ok thanks! Im probably gonna get the les paul standard plus top then cuz its a bit cheaper and would probably be better?

  • @PurpleVenom777

There's no better, only different :P. I don't like the aggressive sound of EMG's with gnr or ac/dc. But They're both good guitars and you'll be fine with the epiphone les paul standerd or custom :P

  • Is it possible to access the 24th fret without pain in normal sitting position ? =P

  • @wilkinsos relatively speaking yes ;)

  • what are those strings called?

  • @epcon94 They're "Black Beauties"

  • i was actually considering this guitar . i read a bad user review about the guitar not being built to last and that he had the guitar a short period of time and it was having issues. did you have anything like this happen to you?

  • @dwg116 Been holding up pretty well so far, for the price I absolutely cannot complain. I baby my axe's tho!

  • where to buy strings in color?

  • @shargarepa12345

    Online.

  • @Tiberiusize thanks XD

  • This guitar sounds like any metal guitar over the thousands dollars

  • @crazymanny707070

Yep, epiphone make great guitars for little cash.

  • what strings do you use mate?? custom black?

  • @exclaimz Black Beauties

  • 1st song?

  • @xurfaceisfunnyx Pantera - Cemetery Gates

  • nice lol!!!!!!!

  • i got an improtant question, for the EMG's to they HAVE to have the 18 volt to work or can they still work without them just not as strong and be passive pickups as well??? if not, about how long does the 18 volt last?

  • @anthonyring123 No, They sound fantastic with just 9 volt, personally, I find the 18 volt mod to be overkill, as emgs are already pretty much the hottest pickup on the market. And, as a note, the battery life is not really effected.

  • @asdfcrow thanks for the info, but do they HAVE to have a battiery or can they also work without it?

  • @anthonyring123 No, they must have the battery. the battery has a very long life though.

  • wtf, black strings?

  • @LangKoppen thats what I thought :L HOW?????????

  • what was the song at 1:59 ?

  • @360xboxELITE Its the outro-solo to "Floods"

  • @guitarguy0709rb oh man , i'm about to buy a new guitar but i can't choose :O my choices are this guitar or an esp ltd ec-330 , wich should i buy ??

  • @Mrguitardude5 this one. if ur going to get an Ec its either u get the 1000 delux or nothing. played them all even Ec 50. better go with this one. i like the explorer type model but its personal preference when it comes to shape.

  • this guitar has the same pickups as Zakk Wylde's guitar... the most heavy sounding pickups; plus it has a thinner neck for shredding... that other epiphone guitar that looks like Zakk's doesn't even have his pickups in it... This guitar is MUCH BETTER

  • YEAH! PANTERA \m/

  • hey guys im getting this guitar soon and im looking for a suitable amp im looking at a marshall JCM800 50 watt lead series or ORANGE amp my range is 1500aussie dollers any help would be awesome. i play opeth all the way to messhugah style thanks

  • Did you have any problems with the strap button's? I've read some pretty bad things about them...

  • @NecroLegion21 Interesting that you mention that, I got this guitar as a gift, and have been having problems with one of the pins. what im thinking of doin is getting a locking strap, especially for a guitar like this.

  • @musicguycam Thanx for the info, i considered buying this guitar, but after lots of playing and asking i sided with the ltd ec-401 :P

  • i juss got the guitar...what kind of strings are those so i can get em

  • I am an intermediat level guitar player would this be a better guitar for me than a Gibson

  • @skiingkid57 i personally have never liked gibson guitars, to be honest. this probably would be better if you're a more shredder / heavy metal kinda guy, because EMG's have a higher output and a crunchier sound while being godly clean. everything you play thats metal on activ emg's like in this guitar would sound twice as better than most other things, including the top notch seymore duncan equipped 5000 dollar les pauls

  • What strings are you using?? Those look like DR Black beauties

  • SOMEONE ANWSER PLEASE IF YOU HAD TWO DIFFERENT GUITARS BUT SAME PICKUPS WILL THEY SOUND THE SAME?!

  • @hellow504jr Nope, part of a guitars sound is on the pickups, a much larger part is on the materials, shape, way its been put together, price, quality of the guitar things.

  • @hellow504jr With active pickups (such as the EMG's found here) I've found that the guitar matters much less. With passive mics it gets more of the body's tonality into the sound and therefore the shape and the wood the body is made of matters much more.

  • @glxblt

Exactly..thats why this guitar is so much lighter than a standard les paul.

  • @hellow504jr No not at all, every small detail of a guitar makes a difference in the sound though they can sound similar...

Also, regarding the active/passive pickups that may be true to a small degree, but you need to compare apples to apples. Active's have a higher output and in some cases will amplify the sounds (either positive or negative) of the guitar being played.

  • @guitarguy0709rb Yeah that's true, but with active pickups it's a whole different story. You know, a pair of EMG can make sound good virtually any guitar, regardless of the materials. Of course, you'll notice some subtle differences, but not like if they were passive DiMarzios or Duncans.

  • @hellow504jr

nops dude they both sound very diffrnt

lyk check esp ltd ec 1000 for around $800 and esp eclipse II for $1500

both have the same emg 81 and emg 60........ but there is a huge different in the sound output

  • @hellow504jr little late, but i've played on a Prophecy SG and LP just after eachother with the same EMG's, and effects. the sound is totally different, SG is more raw and LP 's sustain is amazingly high! I bought the LP becouse I fell in love with the sound! SG has less weight and isn't nice balanced, altough, it's a nice guitar to play!

  • @hellow504jr Very similar, if not exactly the same. Despite what many people think , wood and body style, have almost no effect on the wound of the guitar. The wood is not what's picking up the signal from the strings, it's the electronics, and the wood and the pickups are two completely different entities entirely. The wood is basically just there to hold the electronics in while the pickups do all the work.

  • @tonellojohn I respectfully disagree 100%

  • @guitarguy0709rb Hey I hate getting in fights over Youtube, so you know, whatever you want to believe. I'm not someone who's just going to say I'm right, you're wrong. If someone can prove me wrong, then I'll accept that I was wrong, and we'll move on. Until then, I will believe what I want, you can believe what you want. Good luck, keep on playing.

  • @tonellojohn Who said anything about a fight?? I simply disagreed that wood and build have nothing to do with the sound of a guitar. If your theory that the pickups are the only thing that makes "the sound" then we would see 99% of the most popular manufacturers go out of business, especially the high end ones PRS, Gibson,Taylor etc. If true anyone could recreate the same sound of a $6,000 gibson with a block of Pine and some $150 pickups ;) But certainly ur entailed to ur opinion bro :)

  • @guitarguy0709rb I'm not saying there will be a fight, but people do tend to get heated on Youtube. So I'm sipmply saying that we just have to agree to disagree.

  • What do I have to do to mod it to 18 Volts? Just wire an extra 9 volt battery in series?

  • Great! i love ur guitar. what string did u use?

  • i use the same strings DR EXTRA LIFE BLACK BEAUTIES 10 G

great strings. real easy to bend, last long.

  • @jfkdjfd How much do those strings cost?

  • about 15 bucks.

  • @jfkdjfd ok bro thank you

  • hey guitarguy.

im stuck between a Epiphone lespaul custom made in korea 2nd hand for $700SGD with upgraded pickupes to emg 81/85 or get a LTD ec-401 for $850SGD first hand with the same emg pickups too. advice please?

  • @mamabonthere The best advice is to try before you buy - even two Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy, hanging on the wall next to each other, will not be the same. Could be wood from a different tree, or maybe the guy that made them both had a late night before making one. Also, just because one guitar is considered "better" because so-and-so plays it, really you need to go see for yourself.

  • dude...is this guitar the same as EDP/LTD Eclipse?...same spect though

  • cant hear your guitar

  • is the neck fat

  • what brand are those strings and what are they exactly? btw the way nice playing

  • man i have a cort x-6 . Advise me whether to sell and earn more money for this? Is it much better

    Corta guitar from cort x-6?

  • whats the 18 volt mod do?

  • hi man

    please help me with this

i love Gibson SG and it cost 1200$

now i see this one and i realy love it and it cost 800$

so u use it, is it worth it or i go to SG ???

    thanks

  • @mustafa2jan The answer is that they are different guitars. Some may like this better, others not. Dont get me wrong I love Gibson's, but you need to consider that the Gibson is prob running two passive "classic" humbuckers. If you play heavy stuff this guitar may be the better option. If you like a richer tone or play more classic tunes the Gibson is the way to go. Hope that helps...

  • @guitarguy0709rb thanks man

    that helps me a lot

  • @guitarguy0709rb Make more videos man! You rock!

  • @guitarguy0709rb i HATE SG's and love les pauls. totally different axe that isn't comparable in any way.

  • @mustafa2jan Hey man if your still loking at the prophecy i warn you to try out the neck first. The satin finish has a particular feel to it, Its not my favourite thing..

  • @mustafa2jan There is one of these but its an sg.

  • Amazig guitar if you can get it a bit cheaper than retail. I managed to talk the price down on mine to about £400. Had it for a year or so, but never been happy with the 85 in the neck, I'll probably change it to a 60.

  • wut kind of strings do u play with

  • @superpainter323 black pearl i think. just look for coated strings

  • @cagayakeguy cool thanks man :D

  • jesteś gruby...

  • cool

  • that guitar would look sick with gold pickups pafs

  • holy hell you like that sniper from enemy at the gates hahaha and you kill the nazi sniper

  • what make are those black strings?

  • its that a good guitar for black label society???

  • @slash4897 Wylde uses les paul, same wood, EMG:s, why not?

  • this is the epipgone to buy to sound like zakk, real emgs not like that peice of shit signature they offer

  • diggin the pantera, my friend

  • some guy is selling one like this for $550, nothing is wrong with it. is that a good deal?

  • @minion6500 $550 is a great price, if its new find out if its marked with a "2nd". That would just mean that due to any "imperfection" no matter how slight it could not be sold first hand to a normal dealer. You can get awesome deals on instruments with tiny tiny imperfections marked with "2nd"

  • cool great floods

  • where did you get blac strings? :D their awesome :D

  • cemetery gates <3 ...nice guitar btw :D

  • @YellowLeader1 I preferred 1:58

  • were can i get black strings

  • pantera fan.. fuck yeh, nice vid

  • I am just about to buy one of these but have to buy online: How fast / sweet do you think the action is? Is the neck thin and fast? Is the active battery hard to change? Thanks for any feedback

  • you have great taste in music =) pantera and trivium it sounded like

  • i want one... D:

  • You dont have the good amplyer to to give the better sound to your guitar, you need a tube amp. Other wise your sound is creapy.

  • amazing! make covers! <3

  • That's a pretty sweet guitar. Did you ever try the "GX" version? If so, what did you think of it? If I may ask, who makes the "Black" guitar strings? Thank you.

  • OMG what were u playing on the last 2 parts??? i wanna learn them

  • nice pantera!!!!!!!!!!!!! what kind of strings are those exactly?

  • Cemetary Gates :D

  • where did you put the extra battery?

  • can you make a video showing how to do the 18 volt mod

  • I like this mod very much!

  • i dont see any straplocks like they advertice in ams

  • what's the 1er song clean?

  • Is this guitar light in weight? I'm getting one pretty soon, can't wait.

  • @antifascistmilitant most les pauls aren't sadly and this isn't an exception but on the bright side: The heavier it is the better it will sound

  • @antifascistmilitant dude i played one and it was crushing my leg. im serious its heavy

  • Floods, such a great song.

  • where did u get black strings there awesome

  • I think the paint wears off of them...but dadariao (how ever you spell it) makes them.

  • this guitar with a peavey 75 watt is the best

  • what does the 18 volt mod do? im not really sure

  • It provides a "meaty" tone, not more gain or distortion but like is a higher ceiling on clarity if that makes any sense. The difference is audible though, sounds nice.

  • @BestOnTvProducts so your saying it pretty much gives the guitar a warmer tone?

  • Anyone tried the 36 volt mod?

  • @SoundOfAShark

max is 27 volt for EMG, or they die

  • @juIikcesar Yeah i was just being curious if it was possible because i don't want mine to die lol

Thanks for telling me anway man! Is the 27 volt worth doing?

  • I want this guitar. Ever since I saw it on the guitar center website!!!! I can't wait to try it out!!!!!

  • its hard to reach the 24th freth????

  • it is for me

  • are those black strings?

  • @FreeByrd007

I've played both guitars and personally i like the ec 1000 more. To me ec 1000 plays better and feels better in my hands and it has a thinner neck than the epiphone.

  • nice "Floods" outro

  • @FreeByrd007 The frets seem normal to me (i'm using one right now). Don't feel as big as some guitars I've tried.

  • how much this guitar???

  • @simiometalero its $799

  • dude in the netherlands its 600,- euros

  • which is equal to 800 us dollars... haha

  • @Runner077 oh yeah I forgot!

  • That guitar looks sick! I need to get a damn job to get it though :(

  • love that intro chord ;)

  • do you just add a batteri "adapter" to the same places as the first one and put another battery?

or is it more difficult than that?

  • Yep, you got the right idea. Just make sure to wire them in series otherwise you'll end up with an Extra long life 9 volt mod... hehe

  • @guitarguy0709rb Dude your awesome, does the guitar feel good because i'm thinking of getting one

  • best quality vid ive seen nice guitar as well \m/

  • @ 1:55 :'(

    so epic

  • @johnvanoevelen pantera - floods

    such a good song

  • @johnvanoevelen what song is that?

  • what amp you usin here? looks like a valvestate but which model?

  • Its the 65 watt model like VS65 or something...

  • @guitarguy0709rb Is this guitar nice just wondering because its so sexy it probably 1,500 at least right Thanks

  • @SR5127CL try 500 used
