The Mustang is the best car of the bunch. It handles better, is more efficient, and it is better value than both of its competitors. Off the stoplight, the $42,000 SRT8 is the fastest. On the track, the Mustang is King. Sorry Camaro fans, but this car is lost somewhere in the middle. I couldn't live with the Challenger's mediocre handling or the Camaro's tiny windows.
@Maximum777Payne hi, ill have to check the actual weight, the car sells for 52 000$ canadian. Reliability seems very good , so far no complaints from buyers of the challenger. Gas consumption is also very decent if your foot is not too heavy
@pipus4444 If you get the good one, the R/T version, it only costs around $30,000, however if you get the version that most people have, the SRT8 version, you will have to pay $42,000 and the mileage on both the SRT8 and the R/T is worse than the new 5.0L.

im a GM guy but quite frankly this new stang is were its all at, hell i love all muscle cars , the mustang and camaro shit on the challanger but NO ONE cant argue that the Challanger has the better looks, also it came out first so Dodge didnt rly know what to expect from chevy and ford, now they know, lets hope the improve the challanger so atleast the V6 models can keep up with their counterparts.
Worked at the KC assembly plant for 8 years. Worked in Paint Trim Chassis and I.P. lines. I would never buy a FORD. They are cheaply made and way over priced. The workers that build your car are generally drunk or high. I've even seen beer cans in door panels numerous times. Management only cares about production not quality. Many laws are broken in production.

GM's OHV's are nothing like the old ones. GM has spent billlions on perfecting them and there is no company in the world that makes better OHV V8's than GM.
The only cars you'll find that weigh less than a Vette are much more expensive cars that utilize more Carbon Fiber. Or the small kit cars
But GM already stated that the base C7 Corvette will only weigh 3000lbs and have an even lower drag coefficient so without even touching the engine they made it faster.

@Greendude33 the corvette is a grotesquely overweight vehicle for the materials used (my 4 door accord weighs less) and the gran sport posted the same numbers as the 2010 mustang yet alone the 2011 mustang. the mustang also does all this with a 5 litre versus the corvettes 6.2 litre. when chevy realizes that the ohv engine is dried up performance wise, then they can start producing a "sports car" (to use your classification. because by your definition, the corvette is not even a "sports car")

The C6 Vette is steel and aluminum it shaves weight with a simple but yet effective chassis design. The Z06 sheds even more by using no steel at all but an all aluminum chassis and magneisum and carbon fiber.

LAst time the Camaro did battle with the Stang in 2002 the GT V8 made 250 HP the GM V6 in the V6 camaro made 240hp. That's why Ford switched.
@Greendude33 haha you realise every corvette since the names inception has been fiberglass. yes even the zr1 is a mostly fiberglass body! look it up! do some research! now, the most powerful v6 ever in a camaro prior to the 5th generation (current gen) was the L36 which produced 200hp at the flywheel. in 1999 the heads on the mustang's 4.6L v8 were switched out to produce 260hp at the fly.

@LZFAN2009 The best part? The 412hp rating is Ford being incredibly conservative. Some of the new 5.0s are making almost 400hp at the wheels, bone stock. This engine's insane.
At 1:35 I can't tell for sure but I think it says 32 V and TiVCT under the 5.0 decal. Can anyone tell me what the TiVCT is? My guess is something similar to variable valve timing. I had no idea that this motor would have 4 valves per cylinder! I am a Chevy guy, but I have A LOT of respect for this car. American Muscle for life!

@Danboy5050 So motor trend just lies I guess according to you. They raced the ss, 5.0 gt and srt8 twice, it's the slowest out of the three muscle cars. Motor trend raced them at the same time at the same place, the 5.0 goes 0-60 in 4.4 seconds and 1/4 in 12.7. the srt8 0-60 in 4.8 1/4 in 13.3

2011 Mustangs are the best , the base Mustang has a 305 hp V6 with variable valve timing, then the Mustang GT now has 412 HP , then theres the Shelby GT500 with 500 hp ,and if that is not enough theres the Shelby Super Snake with 700 hp. So bring it on Chevy!!! The Mustang will always be better than any other muscle car. The only thing i wish GM could bring back would be an EL CAMINO and they can do it all they gotta do is rebadge Autralia's "Holden Maloo" and name it "El Camino"

@lightningvolt127 No worries mate. My stang is a 2010 and she pulls 560 at the crank and and 514 at the wheels now. The block is maxed, i'll have to forge it if i want to go higher. I think they (sean hyland shop) did a fair job to it. She's running super fine although she tries to kill me each time I step on it :)

Motor Trend liked the new Camaro better and they didnt base their judgement off the motors either. They said the Camaro handles better and is more sophisticated as it is built as more up to date sports car. Really ford a live axle and leaf springs. Get with the times. Once you fix the suspension and axle then I'l give you respect again.

The new mustang actually out handles the crapmero with a live axle and it does not use leaf springs its a better car for cheaper get your facts straight. The camero is too heavy and expensive. A live axle can be made cheaper and handle just as well as a IRS just lookup american iron on you tube
Yo man I realize that leaf springs are the same technology as Queen Victoria puts on her chariot, but leaf springs will work fine. It should only suffer from 0.1-0.4 on the skid track, and possibly make the car lighter, while keeping the price down for penny-pinching consumers. At least Ford doesnt sacrifice quality like GM and Chrysler( check out 2009 stats in car and driver and consumer reports for verification)
I agree with you about leaf springs - it's just another kind of spring that can allow for lower mount points than a MacPherson strut. What concerns me more is its live axle - I know muscle cars have a big history on drag strips, but it's time to make this pony a modern sports car and give it independent rear suspension.

Alot has changed technolologically since then, the Carbon and Zr1 have magnetic suspension and carbon ceramic brakes for example.

@AddictedToStangs Wrong the Z06 has faster laptimes than the Ford GT, I loved the Ford GT but it was to heavy for a supercar and it also was mostly european from its blueprints to its engineers down to the tech used in it.
I prefer the Corvette b/c it is America's sports car it has been since 1953 before the muscle car age .

Because I assure you, that NO corvette from 2006 could even touch the GT, AND they had bigger engines. @AddictedToStangs Do you have any idea the difference between an OHC and an OHV engine, Chevy still used OHV's b/c they are really good at making them, the LS engines have time and time again prooven themselves agaisnt much more expensive euro cars. OHV's are lighter use less fuel and produce more torque than comprable OHC's.
FYI the 5.0 when compared to real OHC isnt so special. The Audi 4.2 OHC V8 450hp BMW 4.0 414hp, Ford still has alot to lean in the OHC department.

Yea, they also had a vette motor. Which is why they costed more then a cobra......and still had worse MPG. The cobra still performed as good and handled better, the fact that the interior fell apart.....All these stacked up against it which forced it out of prodction.. They also looked like a catfish. Now the Trans am WS6 looked pretty cool, but still had the same problems. What as with that bump on the passenger side? lol
Well it's to each his own on the styling of them; I think the Trans Am looked flat out ridiculous its last few years and the Camaro looked better to me, but regardless, all the problems you mention were true; The hump on the passenger side is for the catalytic convertor located right there. As far as gas mileage, I've owners brag about 30 miles to the gallon at 70 mph, but everyone lies about their gas mileage so I don't bother listening to that.
Yea that's for sure about the MPG. True that looks is all about personal preference. I do like the look of the new camaros but in reality, the cost for one doesn't justify the fact that you could buy a used 505hp Z06 for the same price and majority are taken care of really well. Not to mention that you can't see out of camaro. I sat in one the other day and jesus! So many huge blind spots...
I don't understand why the make the piece separating the headlights and grille black plastic on the GT. On the v6 it is painted body color and looks much much better.

@Greendude33 the corvette is a grotesquely overweight vehicle for the materials used (my 4 door accord weighs less) and the gran sport posted the same numbers as the 2010 mustang yet alone the 2011 mustang. the mustang also does all this with a 5 litre versus the corvettes 6.2 litre. when chevy realizes that the ohv engine is dried up performance wise, then they can start producing a "sports car" (to use your classification. because by your definition, the corvette is not even a "sports car")

The C6 Vette is steel and aluminum it shaves weight with a simple but yet effective chassis design. The Z06 sheds even more by using no steel at all but an all aluminum chassis and magneisum and carbon fiber.

LAst time the Camaro did battle with the Stang in 2002 the GT V8 made 250 HP the GM V6 in the V6 camaro made 240hp. That's why Ford switched.

@Greendude33 haha you realise every corvette since the names inception has been fiberglass. yes even the zr1 is a mostly fiberglass body! look it up! do some research! now, the most powerful v6 ever in a camaro prior to the 5th generation (current gen) was the L36 which produced 200hp at the flywheel. in 1999 the heads on the mustang's 4.6L v8 were switched out to produce 260hp at the fly.

At 1:35 I can't tell for sure but I think it says 32 V and TiVCT under the 5.0 decal. Can anyone tell me what the TiVCT is? My guess is something similar to variable valve timing. I had no idea that this motor would have 4 valves per cylinder! I am a Chevy guy, but I have A LOT of respect for this car. American Muscle for life!

@Danboy5050 So motor trend just lies I guess according to you. They raced the ss, 5.0 gt and srt8 twice, it's the slowest out of the three muscle cars. Motor trend raced them at the same time at the same place, the 5.0 goes 0-60 in 4.4 seconds and 1/4 in 12.7. the srt8 0-60 in 4.8 1/4 in 13.3

2011 Mustangs are the best , the base Mustang has a 305 hp V6 with variable valve timing, then the Mustang GT now has 412 HP , then theres the Shelby GT500 with 500 hp ,and if that is not enough theres the Shelby Super Snake with 700 hp. So bring it on Chevy!!! The Mustang will always be better than any other muscle car. The only thing i wish GM could bring back would be an EL CAMINO and they can do it all they gotta do is rebadge Autralia's "Holden Maloo" and name it "El Camino"

Still this new 5.0 is an amazing value. Its a great car....but lets not get foolish.

I think they (sean hyland shop) did a fair job to it. She's running super fine although she tries to kill me each time I step on it :)

Motor Trend liked the new Camaro better and they didnt base their judgement off the motors either. They said the Camaro handles better and is more sophisticated as it is built as more up to date sports car. Really ford a live axle and leaf springs. Get with the times. Yo man I realize that leaf springs are the same technology as Queen Victoria puts on her chariot, but leaf springs will work fine. It should only suffer from 0.1-0.4 on the skid track, and possibly make the car lighter, while keeping the price down for penny-pinching consumers. At least Ford doesnt sacrifice quality like GM and Chrysler( check out 2009 stats in car and driver and consumer reports for verification)

I agree with you about leaf springs - it's just another kind of spring that can allow for lower mount points than a MacPherson strut. What concerns me more is its live axle - I know muscle cars have a big history on drag strips, but it's time to make this pony a modern sports car and give it independent rear suspension.

Times have changed and so have cars. If the Mustang wants to survive (which it has) it will have to keep evolving/adapting.
The fact that the V6 3.6 option can pull 305HP is a testimony to that.
Little STI's and what not are pulling faster 0-60#'s than the 2005-2010 Shelby's in STRAIGHT lines. That's shame. I love my Mustang but damn ...

@AddictedToStangs Do you have any idea the difference between an OHC and an OHV engine, Chevy still used OHV's b/c they are really good at making them, the LS engines have time and time again prooven themselves agaisnt much more expensive euro cars. OHV's are lighter use less fuel and produce more torque than comprable OHC's.
FYI the 5.0 when compared to real OHC isnt so special. The Audi 4.2 OHC V8 450hp BMW 4.0 414hp, Ford still has alot to lean in the OHC department.

Yea, they also had a vette motor. Which is why they costed more then a cobra......and still had worse MPG. The cobra still performed as good and handled better, the fact that the interior fell apart.....All these stacked up against it which forced it out of prodction.. They also looked like a catfish. Now the Trans am WS6 looked pretty cool, but still had the same problems. What as with that bump on the passenger side? lol

Well it's to each his own on the styling of them; I think the Trans Am looked flat out ridiculous its last few years and the Camaro looked better to me, but regardless, all the problems you mention were true; The hump on the passenger side is for the catalytic convertor located right there. As far as gas mileage, I've owners brag about 30 miles to the gallon at 70 mph, but everyone lies about their gas mileage so I don't bother listening to that.

Yea that's for sure about the MPG. True that looks is all about personal preference. I do like the look of the new camaros but in reality, the cost for one doesn't justify the fact that you could buy a used 505hp Z06 for the same price and majority are taken care of really well. Not to mention that you can't see out of camaro. I sat in one the other day and jesus! So many huge blind spots...

I don't understand why the make the piece separating the headlights and grille black plastic on the GT. On the v6 it is painted body color and looks much much better.

look i LOVE mustangs too. i love muscle cars, im no fan boy. i just cant see it putting up, but maybe im wrong. who knows. Only time will tell. Those tire are just, horrible. its like putting bike tires on a motorcycle. the power is there, the traction is not.

You just like buying a vehicle that has a roof leak, brakes that vibrate without weights on them, front fascia that implodes at high speeds, is like a challenger and only reason it's fast is because it has a huge ass motor, because the blockhead company (who owes 70 billion) can't figure out how to make a fast car with less cubes? Sorry, the new 3.7 and 5,0 make the camaro a thing of the past AGAIN. Only reason it sold is becuase it's new, new mustang will dominate.

@natev6 ok first of all i actually have a camaro, and who the fuck said that the roof leaks? second of keeping the natural aspiration, you can get 500hp easily. i know this because it is my job. And by the way it looks NOTHING like a challenger. Oh, im not even going to respond to the fascia comment, WTF? And lastly, this is just hilarious, the brakes on the camaro are fucking amazing, asshole. go drive one and come back to me. Fucking douche bag.

Lol ive driven one, right when they came out in fact, and they suck ass, sorry. Oh, and it quite possibly has the worst interior Ive ever been in.
