I had the first hockey game on Genesis, they just called it "NHL Hockey," no year, but it was made in '91 because it was based on the year the Penguins and North Stars were in the Finals. And there were a ton of weird ass goals on that one. Players would shoot the puck in their own net, sometimes a player would knock his own goalie out of the way. These games were the best.

I think it was NHL 94 that got me into playing roller hockey...but NHL 95 made me into a one-time goal scoring star...that was the best sports game...don't remember how many goals you could score in a game, but 35 comes to mind...a shame they had to up the computer screwage in the games that came later. No matter how flawless the play, when the motherboard wants you to suck...you get gankt...gankt by the motherboard...as is life I guess:)
