I did catch the Dream Theater, ELP and Deep Purple show here in Minnesota. That was a good one. The Starcastle et al show was '75 or '76. Not exactly sure which. I had pneumonia, couldn't go DUE to ILLNESS! :)
To zingflap: That would've been an excellent lineup. Reminds me of 1976: My friend and I had tickets to a concert with Triumvirat, Slade, and Peter Frampton: cancelled at the last minute due to illness. Or of 2000: my brother-in-law and I had tickets for Deep Purple, Dream Theater, and Emerson Lake & Palmer. Cancelled as we drove into the parking lot due to illness! Aaarrrgghh!!
The singer sounds incredibly like Jon Anderson, he even does the dit it dit it stuff! YES must not have known about this guy when they were busy sacking their sick singer.
Grab a copy of their 1st album called 'Starcastle' (it's a blue sky with floating castles on clouds) & listen to how good a studio version sounds compared to this; someone's hand-held tape recorder.
- You'll want to grab two so you'll always have another in case one gets lost or ruined, absolutely some of the most repeatedly listenable music available on CD.
Now possibly out of print.
Look for used copies!!
Their 2nd & 3rd albums are also must-haves, but avoid the crappy commercialized 4th!
These guys were my springboard (in High School 1976) to being a YES fan. The DIDITS in this tune are right out of the YES handbook...still I have a warm place in my heart for Starcastle.
STARCASTLE -VH-1 documentary should be in the works as every time I mention this band in a sentence eyes glass over filled with memories of "back in the day". YES INFLUENCED?W ell why not!! How about looking at QUEEN for comparisons. I remember Gary singing to Bohemian Rhapsody one night after a show...Nothing wrong with a bit of well placed influence! Love, Saintluna

Everyone needs to listen to Michael Tsarion on the youtube. He is the worlds premier conspiracy researcher/lecturer/author. Dr. Bill Deagle is very informative and comprehensive as well.
I saw them open for Boston in Santa Barbara in 1977. I thought they blew off Boston and I like Boston too. Boston really rocked harder than their studio recordings.
WOW, I had no idea these guys were still around !!
I have a few of their old albums and loved what they did for Progressive Rock, they kicked ass in their day. I can see where some of the ProRock bands get it from !!
Please post more or contact me, I would be interested in seeing more !
I want to see the part of this show where the drunk lighting guy was throwing stuff at the band and the cops came onstage to arrest him. Those who were there know what I am talking about.
Yeah, a huge team of cops in riot gear came in to escort the oddball away (he looked like a street person, with his scraggly beard and rumpled clothes.) Amazingly the band played on without missing a beat as if nothing unusual was happening! A very weird occurrence.
Columbia Records threw Boston out on a headline tour after their first album was a smash...While listening to the radio w/ my girlfriend (now wife) in 1976, an ad for a concert by Boston came on...I said to my wife "I wish Starcastle was with them"...at the end of the ad, the announcer said "with special guest...Starcastle"...I about fell on the floor!... Needless to say, I was pretty fortunate to see these guys early on...they were great! (the bands were stable-mates at Columbia)
Holy crap just for a joke I typed in Starcastle and all these came up...freaked me out...I have all there vinyls and cd's from back in the day!! Great prog rock!!!
You are very welcome, my friend. I'm glad that there are some people who care about Starcastle. I was a big fan of theirs when in high school. I saw them at the Tower Theater near Philadelphia, twice, in the mid '70s. For one of those concerts, they opened for Gentle Giant, another great band! I feel lucky to have stumbled accross the fact that they were doing this reunion concert forty miles from where I live, and am glad I was able to attend.

Why the hell didn't the current incarnation of Yes hire this guy, instead of a tribute band singer?? Like, for seriously.

Are any of these guys original members? Hard to tell after 30+years.
As far as i'm concerned Yes is a pale copy of these guys. (original lineup)

Yes, the drummer and the two guitarists on the right are original members...
