  • Is it still there? I should check it out. I wonder if Duluth has one.

  • @AKSoapy29 Nope. Duluth was being cheap when they bought their old siren system and just got 36 Model 2's for the entire city. Then in 2009, they replaced them with Whelens.

  • @LNERMallard

And they won't let me get one of their old Model 2's either. They have some weird policies!

    There are like 4 left.

  • when i saw this it was eaten by the tree

  • Wtf

  • is this one still there?

  • that poor tree...

  • is this by the fire station?

  • @Nitroman08: No, Sir. It's kinda out in the middle of nowhere. Matter of fact, there are no sirens near any of our fire stations.

  • i would love to be those trees! exept for the deafnedd of course...

  • if this were my camera you would only hear craking!lol

  • newly restored ?

  • @TheUban123: No, Sir.

  • North St. Paul used to have a Thunderbolt 1000T, I miss it. Now they have a Whelen Vortex.

  • I sure love the sound of that Thunderbolt 1000T. I believe it's set on chopper level 4.

  • YES it still there!

  • Sounds like you were a bit too close.

  • Too close?

  • Ya know, sounds like you put the camera a bit close and the mic was going weird because of it. I just said that cuz it kinda sounds fuzzy.

  • Maybe the camera was too close, but I was not close enough.

  • ohh. i remember listening 2 that during school ;)

  • I stiil can listen to a T-bolt while im in my school.

  • u guys are lucky. there's a fire department about a block away from my school, and it has a 2001-130. I'd love to hear a Thunderbolt instead of that piece of garbage.

  • Its been here for a while. Idont think South Hutch has any plane=s of replacing it. 1: Its a tiny town. 2: Ive been here for 6 years, and its still sitting there.

  • YOU NOT U

  • you know what i mean. Although i really should stop doing that, lol.

  • @chicagolandhobby The 2001 contains enormous amounts of fail.

And why the hell do they use a 2001? It can't do hi-lo, and it has too many waver tones.

  • cuz they're too lazy to restore a 1003. LOL

  • Is it still there?!?!?!?!

  • if you kinda look, you can see some wind blowing out of the horn in the wind-down.

  • i took a pic of this siren for flickr and some stupid ass with the account gsirens said he replaced the dual tone chopper with a single tone one, he lives in cincinati, so i don't believe him, its not like someone would actually drive hundreds of miles just to replace a thunderbolt chopper

  • I went to watch this siren for August test day and it was still two-tone.

  • then that guy on flickr is a scam

  • I was just about to say the EXACT thing LNERMallard. That IS one HEALTHY sounding thunderbolt for such an old siren.

  • lol, I guess you could say I 'took the words right out of your mouth.'

  • Wow, that is one healthy Thunderbolt. Federal Signal should come out with a low-maitenence thunderbolt that has battery backup. Then again, the Thunderbolt has been discontinued for 19 years already.

  • Now it's 20 years

  • wow thats in great condition long live the t bolt

  • GO THUNDERBOLTS!!!!

  • Ilove sirens..

    idd.. the king

  • I just watched this siren go off today up close at 6:55 PM(state wide tornado drill) it was so bad ass!!!, i wore ear plugs so i still have my hearing, and it was a 40 mile drive from Red Wing, MN to Rosemount, MN, but it was still bad ass!!!

  • I regularly visit these sirens when they sound with no ear plugs. Its not bad at all. Sure it's loud, but with only a three minute sounding, I don't think it does much damage. You really get a feel for how much power is behind them.

  • coo, I should try that next time, are these sirens still in service?

  • There are still 4 1000Ts in service in Rosemount.

  • awesome, do you know when they will be replaced, im interested in buying this one when it comes down

  • Not a clue. Hopefully never.

  • yeah, i hope not either, but still please keep me posted

  • it just breaks my heart to see a Thunderbolt go

  • this is right by my house!!!

  • It's still there!

  • Better be. >:( That siren sound like it could last another 30 years.

  • I think the tbolt is everyones fav!

  • That would be me. My favotire siren is the Thunderbolt.

  • mine too! I love t-bolts! :)

  • Excellent video!

  • SHIT!!! meh ears r bleeding

  • that T-bolt has a great pitch! Love the sound of those T-bolts... I have one on my school right above my french classroom, so whenever it goes off at 1:00 (I have French at that time) , all of my classmates cover their ears, but I'm listening away! XD

  • bacardi ave wow i live in biscayne point = thats the one i hear too i just noticed this ha i have always wanted to steal that damn bacardi ave sign

  • where the hell is that i have never heard that

  • Great!

  • awesome!

  • The creepiness is what mekes this thing beautiful!

  • and thats what makes Tbolt so great...

  • amen to that

  • wow this thunderbolt is in awesome shape, how old is this one, and when was it reconditioned(that is if it was)

  • You can hear the blower's hum when the horn is facing opposite of the camera. How close to the siren were you when you filmed it?

  • Dang! That Thunderbolt sounds cool! Awesome video!

  • Nice sounding Thunderbolt, I love seeing sirens from MN.

  • Very nice sounding Thunderbolt! That would chopper level 4. I would say having a dual tone Thunderbolt on chopper level 4 is the scariest sounding out of a Thunderbolt siren. :)
