  • Pretty sure he can't pronounce 'alternative'...

  • @zephranna01 You just don't get it ... it's the same reason that the AFL state of origin is gone...

AFL fans don't care...they have the best domestic league in the country, they care about their teams.

Americans don't care that they don't have a gridiron world cup.

Your arguments are desperate and pointless.

The only way to stir up any interest in rugby league is with parochial games...

which is why it depends so heavily on them..

and it still doesn't surpass the AFL.

    Sad really.

  • @Roper122 Your arrogant state and sport is the main reason why Australia will never get the chance to host a soccer world cup, you guys dont want your venues being used for the biggest sporting event in the world which would be a privelage for Austrlia to host. But afl and victoria is way too insecure to put their country first. The only reason why afl is still around is because they have a good business sense not because the sport is any good. im not a soccer fan but i think thats pretty sad.

  • @copeland2119 ... you keep telling yourself that.

If it makes you sleep better at night to think that it is purely "business sense " then you go with that.

If somewhere in your mind you imagine that Australia is high on the list of possible World Cup hosts, and the only thing stopping it is the AFL ...you keep thinking that...

If you think it's clever to say "arrogant state" when the NRL actually has less coverage.. you go for it.

It's the weakest argument so far.. but, you have fun.

  • @Roper122

on your first point, yes i will go with that, it makes perfect sense.

on your second point, australia may not be high up to host the world cup, but that just makes it even sadder that the afl would still go to extreme lenghts to prevent other codes being exposed to your sad little state. i wanted to comment on your third point but i dont see where you are going on it??? wat does the nrl having less coverage (in victoria ) have to do with me calling victoria an arrogant state?

  • @copeland2119 ... Actually none of what you've said makes sense, it's all out and out jealousy.

You have it in your mind that no one likes AFL and it's all a big "conspiracy" theory. It's a typical way of thinking when you have cognitive dissonance and cant figure out why you're losing so badly.

By your reasoning the only reason rugby is bigger than chess is because of "business sense"

And the NRL has less coverage in AUSTRALIA... not just Victoria...do you see where that's going?

  • @Roper122 how old are you? 15? smart enough to know words but not smart enough to know which context to apply them. cognitive dissonance exists when people change their atitudes to fit how they behave. Please dont undermine the credibility of intelligent researchers who coined that term Also, i think the word your looking for is self serving bias or something similar. oh yeh and having coverage in SA, WA and NT doesnt really say much. NRL has greater coverage in queensland and NSW and afl VIC

  • @copeland2119 ....Oh my, here we go… where to begin?

I didn't think this would be necessary… but considering your sad attempt to appear intellectually superior, let's go into detail.

In Cognitive dissonance we have a psychological discomfort caused by inconsistency between ones beliefs / attitudes or actions.

  • @copeland2119 ....The theory states that...

    - 1 The existence of dissonance being psychologically uncomfortable, will motivate the person to try to reduce the dissonance and achieve consonance.

    &

    - 2 When dissonance is present in addition to reduce it, the person will actively avoid the situations and information which would likely increase the dissonance.

Leon Festinger ( look him up )

  • @copeland2119 ...Now in your case you have a belief that the AFL is vastly inferior and it should follow that Rugby League should be the dominant sport in Australia. Unfortunately reality does not match your beliefs. So as a result of this psychological inconsistency, your cognitive dissonance manifests itself, by forcing you to make statements about conspiracy theories, or assumptions that clearly do not mesh with the outside world.

  • @copeland2119 ...One recent example… You make logical incoherent statements like " having coverage in SA, WA and NT doesnt really say much. NRL has greater coverage in queensland and NSW and afl VIC "

Obviously, the AFL has more teams actually in those states, more television coverage, more viewers..which leads to more coverage across the country.

But your cognitive dissonance forces to try to reconcile this with your attitudes...

  • @copeland2119 ... so you equivocate the term "coverage" in a desperate attempt to try to claim some sort of victory.

So congratulations… first you made some kind of ill-advised attempt to lecture me on the correct use of the term "cognitive dissonance", and then you proceeded to provide me with a perfect example… all in the same post.

  • @copeland2119 ... So in summary, Thanks for that, you've really made my day!!

By the way, we're both aware that you knew exactly what I was talking about, and your response was simply an attempt at being what is colloquially termed

" a smart arse ", which has backfired.

Next time, before you put your "clever" hat on… think hard before you post.

Oh and if I am 18…you're getting you shown up by a teenager.

    Anything else Einstein?

  • @Roper122 & @copeland2119... wowsers,,, you guys just keep on coming back!!! And still you've failed to expand your minds beyond the confines of your habitat... There is life beyond your respective 'states',,, more so your own country... a whole world in fact! A world who's opinions differ very much so to your own. Yet here you are, in a quarrel to obtain the quantum of solace you require to validate 'your' sports, or more accurately your lives!!! You two deserve each other...

  • @sirswift23 ... oh I agree sunshine. I'm sorry for the long response, but if you try and be an arrogant smart arse with me, and you're wrong...I'm gonna let you have it. So he deserved it.

As for your post. Why the hell do you care?

There's life beyond any disagreement.... there's life beyond youtube... you're needlessly involving yourself in something that you apparently don't care about, and complaining about it?

Thanks for the input... I'll take it under advisement.

  • @Roper122 I'm glad you agree... However my involvement wasn't 'needless', in fact it was quite entertaining thank you. My post was one of amazement than it was complaining,,, though you would say that if it pissed you off somewhat. A clear indication you think I'm right... Substantiation of my correctness is as sure as the sun sets in the west,,, as sure as you'll reply. And reply you will time and time again. Go forth my dear boy and find your solace lest it consumes your cybernetic self...

  • @sirswift23 ...whatever, you're clearly a nutter.

    I regret responding to you...

If you're lonely... get a dog.

  • @Roper122 im sure that your aware that the term cognitive dissonance requires an incongruency between ones own actions and thoughts... not an incongruency between ones thoughts and external reality. Im aware who Festinger is theirs no need for your recommendation but thanks :-). Since you seem to have so much time on your hands im sure you will be able to look up a more suitable psychological term to use in your psychoanalysis of me. i get your example but it is plausible

  • @Roper122 BUT not true in respect to me. You obviously see afl as a great sport but since you use the fact that it is more popular in Australia than nrl as a good indicator of it being better... how do you account for afl not being popular in other countries?..you would have to accept that a better sport doesnt mean it will be the most popular due to the fact that a particular area doesnt give it a chance to develope. If afl is better than league than why hasnt it displaced it in other countries?

  • @Roper122 i am not at all biased here, i ran on the scg when tony plugger kicked his 300th goal, i do enjoy to watch afl, im just a bit disapointed in afls aggressive stance towards nrl..eg signing karmichael hunt and israel folau and also nrl deliberately being blockaded in melbourne, eg nrl semi finals being shown at midnight whilst in league territory afl still gets live coverage..

  • @Roper122 u can say its because afl is more popular in sydney than league is in melbourne, but im sure if nrl was put on live tv in melbourne people would appreciate it alot better just as people in sydney appreciate afl despite having a greater allegiance to nrl

  • @copeland2119 ... Just give it up.

You had your chance to have sensible conversation, you blew it...you thought you'd be a smart arse..and it backfired.

Cognitive dissonance arises from beliefs and actions... you have some strange beliefs ( including the belief that you know about cognitive dissonance )

Regardless, you claim my example with you is not true - oh really?

Anyway... now you're putting words in my mouth and back pedalling at a rate of knots.

Next time try to stay on track.

  • @Roper122 I cant believe you refuse to accept what cognitive dissonance means.. you must have learned this term loosly in a newspaper or a movie where people quite freely misapply scientific terms. ou make empty claims such as "it backfired" and "you thought you'd be a smart arse" and "back pedalling" which anyone can use against anyone, these claims have no logical input and only serve to make you look like the more intellectually superior person in an argument. u make good use of weasel words

  • @copeland2119 .." I cant believe you refuse to accept what cognitive dissonance means "

You're wrong..whether you like it or not.. whether you'll admit it on youtube or not..

    You're simply wrong.

I don't need to make claims about being intellectually superior... I simply point out where you're wrong.

Look it up... you'll discover that you're wrong, although I don't expect you to admit it.. but at least you'll be aware of your ignorance.

  • @Roper122 oh and btw enjoy watching a second afl grandfinal this year, next week... why would they not just play extra time?? money hungry afl management rather fill their pockets a bit more it seems, good business sense i appluade the afl on that

  • @copeland2119 .. I will enjoy the replay, personally I think it's a unique aspect of the AFL, although I understand people's objections... but 3 times in over 100 years isn't too bad

It does fascinate me that you continually go on about how the people who run AFl are smarter business wise than the people who run the NRL.

It is of course true... but it's only one of many areas.

Anyway...that was a pretty fantastic nail-biting Grand Final

  • @Roper122 After looking up the term on the internet i do find that the word does describe a more broader phenomena than it does in my degree studies. So ok i will admit your usage of the term can apply to me, of course i deny its relevance in explaining my own behaviour. And yes of course afl does have better business sense ive always envied that aspect of your sport, amongst other things too.

The grandfinal was amazing no doubt i enjoyed every minute of it and cant wait for the repeat

  • @copeland2119 ...as they say... " fair enough "

So does this mean next week has the AFL & NRL Grand Finals on the same weekend?

    It'll be a sporting orgy.

  • @Roper122 yeh they will be on the same weekend i cant wait haha, hoping for a double saints victory for both codes

  • @copeland2119 ...No thanks. By the way, the Collingwood best and fairest award is called the copeland trophy - that's an omen.

Two grand finals on one weekend...there'll be a lot of lawns that don't get mowed this weekend, and a lot of beer.

  • @Roper122 & @copeland2119

you two should get a room or atleast fondle with eachothers genitals somewhere else

  • @Genetix89 ...thanks for caring... we've moved on.. maybe you should to.

But if you thought it was all a bit pointless, it's a week old, and you've taken the time to comment?

Well done...I'm sorry we didn't realise how important you think you are.

  • @zephranna01 YUP.. every 5 years, although sometimes 3 years, sometimes 8 years... you just make it up as you go along...no one really cares.

But I asked you before.. how many countries have ever won?

    Ever ?

    Come on...

    Admit it...

If all these countries are playing and it's so competitive... how many?

Sorry... but your world cup is a joke... does it annoy you that the Union world cup makes yours look ridiculous?

  • @zephranna01 Please remember, I'm happy for people to have their preferences...in the end if you were brought up in NSW you're probably going to prefer what you grew up with.

But I object to people talking crap... and I happily show where they're wrong!

So if you stop with the B.S. you're fine

    ( I know you won't, I'm just being fair )

  • @zephranna01 ...yes running straight at each other.. not too complicated... don't make it hard.. just run at each other and be able to count to six

( which is no doubt a struggle )

I've had lots of rugby players play AFL, and they are all amazed at how much harder it is to avoid a tackle, and how much fitter they need to be, and how much better they're kicking skills need to be... etc etc etc.

  • @zephranna01 ...I'm really enjoying this.

There's this stereotype that NRL fans are all a bit stupid, and everytime you open your mouth...you just prove it. So please..keep it up.

You haven't managed to respond to anything I've said. Yes you have a world cup...in name only... even Union does way better. The League world cup, is like the NRL... it only appeals to a small group who are deluded over its overall popularity.

Union or Soccer can make the claim.. but it doesn't bother me

  • @zephranna01 .. No, it's not your game.

Your game is an English game.. actually it's a bastardised version of an English game, that was started because of complaints about money from northern teams.

Your game has a world cup, that is so important to the rest of the world that only 3 teams have ever won... even Union can beat that.

As for boring...unfortunately the majority doesn't agree with you.. but hey, a bunch of thugs running directly at each other... sounds pretty exciting to me.

  • @zephranna01 ... AS I've already said...

No one cares if the rest of the world plays it. That's what's called being confident in your own country, and your own game, as opposed to playing a game that was invented because clubs up in the north of England wanted to get paid.

As for the AFL's insular world... funny..it has more states in it than yours... so what does that make you?

Please stop, you are embarrassing real NRL fans. You're obviously just a kid.

  • @zephranna01 ... Somehow you think that just because you say something is going to happen that this represents some kind of argument against the truth.

Hmmm, it's never happened in the past... and the NRL has been around for a while.

You can rant and rave all you want about how it's all going to work out your way ( it's not ) but just look at history... the NRL has never been on top, they've merged teams, lost teams, had failed franchises..bumbled, fumbled and been made to look incompetent.

  • @zephranna01 ..as for your other rubbish.

FOX is in about 30% of Australian home ( wow - huge numbers...look out, I'm terrified )

AFL actually has a greater CUME on FOXTEL than the NRL ( look that up or get someone to explain it to you )

As for a bigger TV deal..I'm sure the NRL will get a bigger deal..

    as big as the AFL?

    NO, nowhere near.

And then the next AFL deal will be even bigger again.

    It's just reality.

    Cry all you want

    A man's game? - you mean a mentally deficient man's game.

  • @zephranna01 *YAWN..

No actually I pointed out that I don't want to pick on you if you're a kid.

And I pointed out how desperate and stupid you must be to continually just through out stupid insults against the truth...

and what did you do? You threw out more insults.

I'm sure it makes you feel better to believe all this stuff is magically going to happen one day, and I'm sure as long as you stay in Sydney you'll never have to face reality.

    Just keep believing the lie.

  • @zephranna01 ...yeah bullying...in the sense of , it's bullying for someone to beat up on a "special" kid who obviously doesn't get it.

You're just flailing about trying to pretend something's true when it's not...the facts are against you, and you keep trying to pretend that sometime magically in the future it'll all change.

I'm suspecting you are a kid, and I feel like a bully.

And yes if you'd like me to explain why NRL gets more pay tv viewers, ( but actually a lesser cume ) I will.

  • @zephranna01 ... oh yeah and you keep thanking god.

Maybe he'll make NRL more popular one day?

After all... that would take a miracle.

( is there anything else you'd like to discuss?...because quite frankly this is too easy and I'm getting sick of bullying you into submission )

  • @zephranna01 ... Ahh more stupid names, more insults ( seriously are you 12 ? )

And more of this conspiracy theory

" everybody " knows how much better NRL is...

    Really?

Just tragic that " everybody " doesn't watch it... or get club memberships, or go to matches.

The funny thing is..this lack of awareness of reality is what helps to keep the NRL where it is... you think the reason you can't compete is because the world's against you.

    No..actually it's because you're not as good.

  • @zephranna01 ....Oh it's a conspiracy theory now?

The big tough scary AFL bullies poor little NRL and keeps it out.

That's the only reason...couldn't possibly be that that AFL is more popular, in more states, has more viewers and generates more revenue?

    You keep telling yourself that.

If you had half a brain you'd stop bringing up things that you are clearly losing about, and turn to subjective opinions on the game.. but you're too stupid to do that ( then again..you are n NRL fan )

  • @zephranna01 ... Yes you do have a World Cup, and despite the fact that I've already dealt with it... let's look at that "World Cup ".. how many countries have won this "World " Cup? Come on genius.. How Many??

    Hmmmm... Interesting.

Again.. you're great at what the NRL is "going " to do..maybe..in the future...sometime..

*YAWN.. wake me when the NRL actually do all this stuff you're imagining.. otherwise, you can keep your imaginary stories to yourself.

  • @zephranna01 ....Oh yes, more insults and pointless fantasy.

Again, you're arguing about what might happen one day in the future, when somehow magically the NRL suddenly gets people to like it...

Newsflash - it's been around for a while...people know it's there...they just like AFL better.

Actually seeing as the NRL is only 2 states, it's way more insular - try again Einstein. ( I bet people in Melbourne thank god you weren't born there either...)

Reality's tough to deal with isn't it?

  • @zephranna01..you are the dumbest of dumb CUNTS

  • @zephranna01 ...have you noticed that every embarrassing attempt you've made is along the lines of...

" in five years time ", or ' stick around " , or " the next tv rights "..

Yeah right.. in the future, maybe, possibly...

Yeah, maybe in 10 years time everything you think will be true...

    but it aint true now...

and it's never been true before

( and just quietly..it's not happening in the future )

But when in doubt just throw out pointless insults.

You my friend have been owned.

  • @zephranna01 " NRL is watched by more people in Australia and overseas than the AFL "

Yeah... of course.. that's why they get paid so much less for the television rights ; )

As for defecting players... even if you're right..I'd rather play for the code that can afford to offer money because people actually watch it.

Unfortunately reality just doesn't match up with what you're shovelling.

It's understandable... the NRL isn't up to the AFL and you don't like it.

  • @zephranna01 ... You're pretty much livin in dream land aren't you?

More tv viewers, more money, more attendances, more members,

more ( well more than none ) high profile players defecting to join...

TV ratings? Hell, more people watch the AFL on TV in Melb, than watch NRL on TV in Sydney

And yet according to you it's all about to change... you keep telling yourself that, the rest of us will keep living in the real world.

  • @zephranna01 ....Give it up. That's your argument, the AFL is shitting itself?

Well as I said...more than double...so I think we both know who should be shitting themselves.

Meanwhile, any AFL players moved to NRL lately?

    Still not shitting yourself?

The truth does hurt...tragically, you're ignoring it.

  • @zephranna01 ... yeah USA -NFL.

A country confident enough in itself to not give a rat's who else plays their own football.

The Superbowl is the biggest sporting event on the American calendar...

The Americans could care less what the rest of the world thinks...

Wouldn't it be great if Australians were strong enough to have their own game that they proudly played regardless of other countries - oh yeah, we are that good.

    Keep dreamin.

  • @zephranna01 ... Yeah with any luck the new AFL teams can be as successful and impressive as the Melbourne Storm..no wait.. hang on.. I mean not as dodgy and as much of a laughing stock.

    Maybe they could merge?

But you're right, they'll probably die out cos they play a game that consistently has more than double the attendance of Rugby League.

Despite the fact that the number of people who play it is nowhere near double.. hmmm, must mean it's more entertaining to watch .. funny that.

  • :L aww the mascot thingys were cute,

  • League needs sonny

  • This is rugby league fuck head

  • why the fuck is this called "The Footy Show".......it's NOT FUCKING FOOTY!!!! How many times is the ball kicked in this game....maybe 30 times in 80 minutes? Give me a break...that ain't footy! It's dipshit Rugby, nothing more, nothing less......I guess "The Rugby Show" doesn't sound quite as appealing.....

  • @baysidelad1 It's called the Footy Show dickhead because it actually is Football- Rugby League Football which is run on the foot and not on horses where the term originated. AFL is some pathetic excuse for a sport invented by a bunch of fucking Mexicans used as an excuse to slap instead of tackle each other. Do us a favour and stop fucking immigrating north you filth- we don't want you or your sport.

  • @koorja1....looks like you're in the minority you wanker...BECAUSE AFL GETS BIGGER CROWDS UP NORTH THAN NRL! Rugby leauge is footy? Yeah right, in your little dreamworld it is, but nowhere else. Go have a scrum with your gay mates in Oxford St and stick your head up your boyfriends arse....that's the purpose of a 'scrum' isn't it??? A perverted form of foreplay that you poofs gets your kicks from

  • @baysidelad1 Firstly Soccer, Rugby, League- football codes descended from English folk football. AFL? A pathetic excuse for a sport that Victoriancs push onto everyone else. Greater Western Syndey and the Gold Coast don't want you so fuck off. Secondly scrums are a test of something called strength- not something an aerial ping-pong player would know much about.

  • @ XINGWEI12

    @ GNRMAN89

    @ z0mgrugbyreturns

    @ THEBRISBANEREP

@ ALL YOU NORTHERN FUCKING SHORTNECKS

HAHA I would have thought a guy fingering three Cowboys on the field was gay? Homosexual, if you like? Hypocrites each and every one of you cretins. Don't attack a sport you don't know when you play the ladies (or league) version of Rugby, your own game, invented because quote "people were getting hurt in Union". Hurt to know the Storm have your beloved trophy? Fuck off and go finger a COWBOY!

  • Yeah and we love your sense of humour Matt Johns hahaha. Pay-backs a bitch

  • AFL players are faggots

  • bahah that was one funny video, love NRL

  • AFL players are faggots. They remind me of soccer players.

  • instead of comments being made about this funny video, why are we talking about AFL? or degraded ourselves to that level.

  • @Kingsland7 " instead of comments being made about this funny video, why are we talking about AFL? "

... because they're all afraid of AFL, because it's a better game, has more supporters, makes more money... etc etc.

Still.. the Melbourne Storm are doing well... oh yeah.. sorry bout that.

Perhaps you'd better stick to commenting on the funny video.

  • @Roper122 Perhaps you should think a better comeback that also doesn't take 5 months to formulate. thanks for dragging me back to this video to read a few sentences of your smack which is, well, completely odvious. Whoa! are you telling me that the storm are in a bad way? wow, tell me more I did not know that. Hey roper, why havn't they made an 'alternative AFL' video yet? oh because no one gives a shit about your mexican game outside of these shores.

  • @Kingsland7 Well if you'd looked you'd see that I only just saw this video... but never mind. Didn't mean to drag you back... sorry.

As for the old " outside of these shores " argument.. yeah.. brilliant to have an Australian game isn't it? Just like the Americans have their own football... ask the NFL if they a crap about the rest of the world. Still it's terrible following AFL and getting 80,000 supporters to home and away matches...

Anyway.. sorry to drag you back.

  • @Kingsland7 I guess they're all upset that the AFL is becoming more dominant than the NRL, no disrespect coz I'm a fan of both codes, it's just that I think every one is hating the AFL coz it's better managed than the NRL

  • plonkers pointlessly fighting which oval sport is best-what a joke-be happy with the oval ball,so pass it around and kick off

  • No one in New South Wales or Queensland gives a shit about AFL.

  • @LlortnA fuck off

  • Aus fag league ,.Nothing more said ,.Wear your tight lil pants think you got skill ,. any one can kick a ball ,. Takes a man with skill to play nrl.

  • From what I understand League focuses more on player strength over endurance whereas AFL focuses more on endurance then strength...the AFL fields are much larger than a RL field, and the games go for longer? That being said RL has less interchanges than Aussie Rules, and RL players require more strength than AFL players as tackling is more important in RL than AFL...quite obviously.

  • The thing is an AwFuL game goes for 80 minutes, check the laws of the game if you dont believe.

Endurance? There are about 100 interchanges in the fumbleball game and that is honestly pathetic for a profession "sport".

  • @moggott lol thhe fumbleball game funny as

  • but the thing with the longer feilds.

dont afl players sort of rove in there area and RL players go up and back

  • There are next to no droped balls in a game of AFL, but there are many takles which result in a dropped ball. the whole game is revolved around the foot ball, which is why the other team tries to STEEL the ball of off the other player. SAME AS RUGBY.

  • afl is the most fumbleing game ever and they cant tackle for shit..

  • the footy show=fucking morons and bogans, i bet no one watching understood

  • afl players a skinny rackes compared to league players league players a built like brick shit houses

  • clearly they are both fit, AFL players are just fitter. They have more stamina.

And anyway, so what if i like AFL!? Not everyone can like Rugby, infact, hardly anyone does. Have a look at the Australian bureau of statistics, AFL is 3rd whilst rugby is right down there :)

  • Fitter? Is that why you fags have about 100 interchanges per game?

gAyFL are pathetic "sportsmen" with bad handling skills, poor kicking skills; hence the 1 point for missing; and no tackling/contact skills.

The "sport" can be described accurately as messy freeforall played by unco retards.

  • AFL has interchanges because the field is 160m long and 130m wide (some fields differ). Most players SPRINT the length of the field over 20 times per game. Hence why the need to have a REST. Bad handing skills? Have you ever seen a afl game? When you the game on tv you cannot see the players sprinting from the other side of the field (over 1000m) to get the ball. ITS AN ENDURANCE AND SKILL GAME.

  • Bullshit the interchanges are so many because their "fitness" is nonexistant.

Sprint 20 times the length of the field? most of the time they are either sitting on the arses on the bench or are up the other end of the field waiting for mthe ball to come to them.

Yes bad handling skills...it's not known as fumbleball for nothing.

    LOL endurance......

  • alright clearly you have never seen a game of AFL before.

  • yeah i can sprint from one end of the field to the other 20 times we do that to warm up lets see some of you aussie rules players run into a wall and have the wall fall on you for twenty times you skinny little sprats wont get up

  • poor kicking skills? The longest kick in VFL/AFL history is Albert Thurgood from Essendon who kicked 98.48m, others kick over 70m without hassle, whilst sprinting.

The 'one point for missing', is not true. Thats just their scoring process. If the players miss, they get know points. the one pointer is called a behind.

  • Yes 1 point for MISSING! They are rewarded for mediocrity and that in itself shows the "sport" for what it is....simple.

  • if they MISS they get NO points. a behind is not a miss, it's a behind

  • The rugby field is only 100m by 68m. and all of the players run in a STRAIT LINE TOGETHER. there are not nearly as much smart tatics and plans made. AFL has 18 players on the field at the same time.

    BACKS:back pocket fullback back pocket

HALF BACKS: half-back flank centre half-back half-back flank

    CENTER: wing centre wing

HALF FORWARAD: half-forward flank centre half-forward half-forward flank

FORWARD: forward pocket full-forward forward pocket

    Foll: ruckman ruck rover rover

  • Straight lines? Now who is showing their lack of knowledge of sport.

Rugby league is all about tactics with set offensive and defensive lines which need to be broken unlike AwFuL which is just kick the ball to someone in the middle of a big field which nearly always results in a dropped ball and a mad scramble.

Face it your sport is messy and unco-ordinated and reminds me of a game primary kids play called mugby but the difference is that the kids show more skill than those AwFuL clowns.

  • I know that you need t be fit and have skill to play rugby, but then again you also need skill to play lawn bowls.

There are next to no droped balls in a game of AFL, but there are many takles which result in a dropped ball. the whole game is revolved around the foot ball I know that you need t be fit and have skill to play rugby, but then again you also need skill to play lawn bowls.

  • league is the ****** game ever invented. fat, unfit, ugly noobs play it.

    looosssers.

  • haha, you don't like Cross-Country Wrestling? me neither.

  • bahahahaha

that is a great way to put it! :D

  • You should use that one, or Tossball, either ones good.

    Go Bomberssssss.

  • West coast eagles (Y)

  • yeah, go fight david kidwell, or paul gallen, or ay rugby league player.

  • id love to see an AFL player VS a rleague player, any AFL player would SMASH them :D

  • Wake upto yourself afl players are pussy they never fight there all pillow bitters..and if GayFL players are soo strong why aint any of em gone into boxin??

  • they dont go into boxing because their game is AFL...

  • yeh they cant box cause there a bunch of pussies..and you go a AFL would smash a league player come on your kidding yourself...Go and wack off over the jonas brothers

  • i did not say that an AFL player would 'smash a league player'. They train and play as AFL players, that is their priority.

  • Barry Hall challenged Sonny Bill Williams to a boxing match, Sonny rejected the match.

  • as if, half of you are skinny tall guys, it is a fast fit game, but not very rough or high tackling

  • u kidding fat and unfit wake upto urself u wombat everyone in league is fit union players are fat and unfit..i bet your just a computer nerd

  • hm, yeah, im defently a computer nerd. considering that i jog every night, play sports on the weekends and train every second night, hm, yeah, that makes so much sence.

okay, ofcourse their not 'unfit' and 'fat', rugby players are just fat and unfit comparared to all AFL players :)

  • I was about to defend your point on AFL being a sport about endurance and skill...then i saw your original comment which just as stupid as the other idiots who replied to you.

  • From South Yorkshire, England growing up in Rotherham (Rugby Union town) but have been a lifelong League fan (Huddersfield Giants) - Love league, can watch union but prefer not to.

  • Isn't the difference between league and union similar to the difference between 1 day and 5 day cricket or even checkers vs chess?

I grew up in NZ and while I always played union absolutely loved watching Australian rugby league or the Winfield Cup as it was known then.

Can anyone let me know what the relatively strenghts are of league in union in Australia now?

League seems to be in decline in NZ as players strength is 1/2 of what it was 10 years ago.

  • league is still popular more than union at the moment

  • Thanks for getting back to me.

What do you reckon about having on national rugby team - ie a union side that is made up of the best players from both codes - take it touring around the UK playing league and union sides and of course touring NZ and South Africa , France and Argentina.

Wouldn't that give league players international experience which they don't get in league while also ensuring the continuing success of the Wallabies?

    Cheers,

    Mike

  • our best players play league, union is slowly dieing in aust.

  • Dave,

Thanks for this - why do you think union is slowly dieing in Australia?

Also, I've just seen some YouTube clips of league in the 80's - Meninga, Lewis etc. That's when I used to watch league - do you think league has improved since then?

    Cheers, .ioLth

  • union is dying because kids are getting wrapped in cotton wool when they are younger, parents are pushing them into less physical sports ie AFL, sad to see

  • Aussie rules (not AFL, that's the league, you don't like me to say Rugby instead of RL) Anyway, footy is physical, you have to be able to run at full pace whilst kicking the ball & bouncing the oddly shaped thing, it takes skill, I don't have any idea what game you've been observing.

What an AFL game, just one, it takes a hell of a lot of fitness.

  • fair comment, and by physical i ment hard tackles, mauls and rucks, scrums, general "hardness", i appreciate the skills and fitness of aussie rules but lets face it, it isnt a game 4the man who likes to put the hurt on the opponent and dominate in that way ie steve price, richie mccaw,

  • yeah, it's more for the runner inside you.

    and the long kicks etc.

  • true. i like you, you like rugby more than AFL, but you can still appriaciate both sports

  • AFL players are some of the fitess athletes in the world.

It is actually Australian Rules Football. Aussie Rules and AFL are just abreviations. !

  • Nope, fewer players, different rules.

  • yeah union is in front of rugby league, but i will forever love to watch league then union, personal taste

  • HAHA "So suttle"

    fukn aussies

  • yeah fuck'n aussies

  • I love it - the Eel mascot was so funny.

  • um yea i grew up in the suburbs of sydney and played league, i had no idea what union was until around age 12, i still prefer league thou, but i dont mind a good game of union.

  • Golden, absolute gold....

Nobody could ever describe league better.

  • us Canadians play union, no one plays league at all, we play more Aussie rules than league. Also different types of people can play union while only a certain body type can play league(big and fast)

  • tru dat. but i grew up playing union rules so that wat i side with :)

  • loved the agrument about league and union over there. in my mind simple fact....union is world wide popular league is not. im sure its more popular for a reason

  • its a funny one. i love the league and i think this video is as much a piss take of union as it is of the 13 a side game. but leaguies tend to get their back sup about this one. i think union is more popular as it was the game of the educated wealthy colonial settlers and ambassadors. league is a game born of the working classes. took a bit longer to get established abroad. do not think it is because either is 'better'.

  • I agree

  • love the skill and speed of league. its easier to watch a lot of the time. and i reckon a bad game of league is 'better' than the union equivalent in quality. but the tension of a great game of union is unrivaled. just look at the league world cup final? dramatic in a sense but none of the drame of the france all black world cup qf. great result but a bit of an odd game.

  • I grew up in PNG and so obviously grew up with League but was converted when I went to boarding school in Perth. I still think it's a great game to watch. You're right though about 'bad' games of league are just more interesting to watch than 'bad' games in union.

  • @fraserdldavidson

textbook reply, so glad it wasnt a "no union is better because league is for poofs" argument

  • did they ever keep that segment up beyond the big tongan willy?

  • no, apparently most of the audience didnt really get it. bit of a shame but what can you do.

  • What a shame. Did they not think it was funny, or do they take themselves too seriously?

  • actually, after all the chat, it turned out that it actually was a bit too subtle.

  • Wow. I guess then the stereotype about League people not being the sharpest folk holds true then.

  • *giggle*

  • Still a great video never the less. good work.

  • typical how league just have to go on a union bashing. one day they will grow up

  • Or, 'codism'.

  • Why does union deserve recognition?

There players cant tackle as well as league players. Union is a game as interesting as watching paint dry. Hence most points being scored with penalty goals. See in league we have a thing called a try apparently union has them too but they just dont happen like in league. In oither words your game is an appaling joke.

  • 1. you cant spell or write in grammatically correct sentences.

    2. this, i believe is indicative of your code preference. if the laws of simple communication are beyond you then the subtle nuances of a sport that include complexities like the ruck, contested scrums, line outs etc will be way out of your 'league'.

    3. your referees have to count to five for you, you bunch of retarded twats.

  • Thinking you're code of Rugby is better than the other is just ridiculous - it's like Rugby racism.

Anyway, form a technical point of view, if Union does actually stand so well as a sport, then why has it become progressively more similar to League over the past 20 years, while League has hardly changed in the last 100 years?

  • do i detect a hint of rugby racism?

cracking post tho. been humming 'ebony and ivory' all morning.

  • lol, no, my personal preference is League, but I don't really consider either code to be outright better than the other - just different. I do think it's interesting the way Union is changing, though - it's a result of professionalism more than anything else.

  • you really seem to have a talent for immediately contradicting the first sentence of each post. surely, given that a preference of either sport would only be subjective, your own 'preference' would lead you to the conclusion that you think league is 'better'?

  • No, because that isn't really how opinions work - just because I prefer League doesn't make it better, just better for me. To think that makes the sport better as a whole is extreme arrogance. To extend a personal experience of a sport into a generalisation between sports is, as I said, Rugby racism.

  • youre missing my point. nothing makes a sport 'better' or worse than another. indeed a subjective personal opinion could be the only factor with which you judge such things.

and id try not to be the person to coin the phrase 'rugby racism'. its the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard and seems to make light of, you know, real racism.

  • That isn't your point - that was my point. The only way in which you can logically compare sports is in technicality - which is what I was doing.

As for 'rugby racism' I only used the term for lack of another, which is why I coined the term 'codism'.

I don't know why you're arguing with me - you don't actually seem to disagree...

  • ps. daz/23/australia, perhaps i have judged you harshly? you obviously have just enough grey matter to be able to type the phrase 'foot fetish' into the youtube search engine. so a big hand (or foot).

  • Meh, cry all you want about Union but more people play it than league cause they are actually strong and shit. Like they said "lean-on" too fucking true also league takes about 3 guys to take down one then they squirm on the ground like worms where as in union the big bastards just fight over the ball. You pretty boys can play league all you want just a shame you don't know what you're missing out on.

  • lol who wanna bet how long it going to be before the aussies claim this as there own

  • i know. from that bastion of comic finesse- the footy show.

  • yeah the lean-on haha it so true too in league lol

great segment, though the rugby ones are better i think

  • haha...It seemed to hit a bit of sore spot from Senior Johns. I think this one holds back as well. Could've ripped sh!t a lot more if he wanted to.

  • ''The lean on.'' HA HA HA !!!

  • love 'the league world' in 0:36

The league parts actually in white and consists of brisbane, sydney, northern england and a speck in NZ!

    LOL!

  • Pearler dude - cant wait to see more. I agree with the Jerry Collins remark too - bring on the Pori-vegas Wrecking Machine!

  • Spoke to a couple of my mates from Porirua. They showed Jerry Collins on you tube. Do one of him instead of ritchie mcaw

  • colonel tinkles collins....

  • Finally, this show and this guy gets recognised for its real talent and entertainment!
