@ConservativeBrew Lots of controllers will work with the Android tablets including PS3 controllers, N64oid has recently updated to allow multiplayer - I played some three player Goldeneye on my HDTV via my ASUS Transformer just last night :)
@Shadowthehedgehog835 It got pulled by Google, presumably at the request of Nintendo - emulators are something of a grey area legally (I think it's fine if you own the carts, as I do, but that tends to vary from country to country).
@TheNintendofan321 Thats kind of a complicated question to be asked in youtube comments, why not ask at some tech forums? If you're a really big nintendo fan then emulator gaming on the Android's might swing it for you...
Seeing as you're the only person I know with a SGS2 and the 10.1, could you please confirm or deny whether or not you can transfer files between the 2 devices via WIFI Direct it some other wireless protocol? Thank you... inadvance! :)
@harpersneil :( Sold my 10.1 and shipped it the other day, so can't answer your question sorry! Bluetooth file transfer should work fine, but is of course not very good for anything other than relatively small files. As far as I'm aware the 10.1 doesn't have WiFi direct (although with the TW UI on the retail release its possible Samsung included it, GSMarena specs listing should be able to answer that).
My 10.1 has arrived now and I can confirm that is does not (despite what GSMArena says) have any ability to connect to my SGS2 via Wifi Direct. However, by using File Manager HD, I was able to access all my vids through my home network, by passing the need to use Wifi Direct.
This is precisely why I love Android and hate iOS. This kind of flexibility could only be possible on a truly Open OS.
@harpersneil Hey thanks for your feedback man, and the confirmation about WiFi direct. These things are rarely barriers in the Android world though, as you point out, just wee hurdles.
@fluffyte Ah, I don't think its in the Market - I got it at XDA-Developers and it originally came from the ASUS Transformer. Freely available from their forums.
@WeCannabis best buy told me it only last 5 hours but i think they lied just to get me to buy the ipad2, which I did but they also told me i have 14 days to decide whether to keep the ipad2 or to take it back and exchange it with the galaxy tab 10.1. Im most likely going to exchange it with the galaxy.
@FutureScience2012 5 hours? Man, thats so dishonest! Check online at places like GSMarena - the iPad2 battery outdoes this one by something like half an hour (9.5hrs instead of 10h, something like that).
@TheCraftinator It should be possible on Android 3.1 and above providing the kernel supports it (there is already a custom kernel at XDA that has this support).
@Muhibs77 An app to do that has just come out, it should work with the Tab since it uses the stock Android bluetooth stack, haven't got around to trying it yet!
@NZtechfreak thanks man:) do you think that you could post a short demo of super smash bros? It would mean alot bro:) i subscribed and enjoy all the content on your channel!
Could you please do a demo of super smash bros? It could be a deal breaker in me buying this tablet.(as lame as that sounds) and also how much was that cobtroller you were using? Whats it called? Good video:)
@NDCinvincible From memory the Datel Retro Wireless controller was somewhere around the $37US mark (from Codejunkies, I used Shipito to have it sent to me outside the US, it sometimes pops up on Amazon and Ebay too). Will check out Super Smash Brothers for you (doesn't sound lame to me at all, hah!)
@Darkbreeze1 Its taken from the Iconia Tab (or is it the Transformer, I forget). You can get it at xda-developers forum in the applications subforum of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 forums.
Do the on screen controls disapear when you have a controller connected and re appear when you dont? And could you also make a video showing how to get this?
@NDCinvincible You can turn the onscreen controls off in settings, not a problem. Doesn't happen automagically though, which would be a really nice touch. Not sure what you mean about how to get this - you mean the emulator? Might be easier to contact me via androidforums, then I can troubleshoot for you over there.
@thang691 Contact me at Androidforums and I can help you out, the emulator itself is easy to get - you just need to sign up to slideme (google it) - its an alternate market to the Android Market. Well worth joining, lots of stuff like emulators and youtube downloaders and so forth that get regularly booted off the Android Market find their way over there.
The sort of person who watches this then buys an ipad needs a new brain and someone to convince him that you can't fly to the moon on a candle... I.e iPad sucks...
@ericc191 They are working on a version with analog sticks if you wanted to wait a little bit... Oh, and the one is this video is available from Codejunkies (didn't realise which video I was responding to since I was on my SGSII when I posted!). If you're not in a country that Codejunkies ship to you can use shipito to get it from their US webstore (thats what I did). Ebay also has them from time to time.
I just thought it was same just like how you would sign up for 2 year contract when you're buying mobile phone? I just thought you might know since you're getting it, but no matter as I'm sure this is better than ipad anyways.
@Coolpher From XDA developers (sorry youtube doesn't allow posting links in comments, if you do this search in google you will come up with a link that will take to what you want nztechfreak site:androidcentral Enjoy!
Nice, just got my Galaxy Tab 7 HDMI dock, as shown already on Youtube it works with the I/O Edition Tab 10.1 - just had me some Mario Kart 64 on my 42inch television using the Datel Retro wireless controller! Sadly can't get two player split screen working, despite WiiRemote Controller IME connecting to multiple WiiMotes...
@NZtechfreak You succeeded in getting two Wii remotes working in one game? So two players work in SNES games, but you can't see the split screen? I don't quite understand this. The games will or will not let you play two players.
@djbneozen Sorry if that wasn't clear, so the app that connects to the WiiMotes will connect to multiple controllers, unfortunately I couldn't get the emulator to respond to the second one (so couldn't even get to the point of seeing how well it coped with split screens).
@djbneozen Yep, thats the question. Had a go last night, WiiRemote Controller IME can connect to multiple WiiMotes, but I had a problem in the emulator with the second WiiMote (I think because they were different controller types, the Datel and the official one, so the keymappings weren't the same, will try again tonight with two WiiMotes)
@jkarlo76 I'm not sure what you mean? You don't need an external controller, it will work with just the emulator and onscreen controls, they're a bit clunky though in comparison to using a controller. The N64oid emulator shown was withdrawn from the Market by its developer, a more mature version with increased game compatibility is due for re-release onto the Market soon.
@jkarlo76 Sadly no, because the 7inch model uses Samsungs bluetooth stack, not the stock one. The Zeemote, Phonejoy, and iControlPad, will work though.
Does multiplayer work with the N64/PSX/SNES emulators?
With Dual-core Cortex A9 processors we should be able to get Dreamcast emulated at fullspeed. But given this is a new platform (ARM) and Android's weaknesses (Dalvik) I don't think we can expect this until Cortex A15's debut.
@crumcon Definitely, hopefully when N64oid is re-released to the Market very soon its much improved and can run Goldeneye smoothly, would really take me back having some GE deathmatching!
@crumcon OK, WiiMote Controller IME definitely will connect to multiple controllers, I think I had a problem because I hadn't mapped the keys in the regular WiiMote - likely need two of the same controller for the keymappings to work. I will retrieve my other WiiMote and try again shortly.
@NZtechfreak Test it with two PS3 controller :) . i think its time for android games to support offline multiplayer with the introduction of honeycomb 3.1
