    YUMMM ELVIS <3

  • i'd love to kiss away that worry-wrinkle between his eyes <3

  • If Elvis ever got those teeth fixed, he might not have been so ugly in his youth haha. He was still only 29 or 30 at this point.

  • Holy Cow..this is like porn.

  • Elvis, I WANT YOU.

  • ...Pretty eyes....always had that KILLER VOICE....ALOT OF SOUL~

  • Thanks for share this fantastic video. It was something I never thought I would see... something I never even considered; Elvis Costello without his glasses.

  • looks like stan laurls bastard son ..... and well he might

  • He looks.. like Seth Green!

  • he is another person :D

    I LOVE HIIIIMMMMMMMMMMMMM

    GENIUS!

  • My image!

  • Hahahahahahahaha he's lookin pretty good :)

  • every time he smiles I want to kick a field goal

  • Gorgeous!. I'm lovin the rats tail haircut too.

  • well it's weird to see elvis without his glasses, but damn, he's lookin' good even without 'em.

  • he has got Paul Cinnamon's gnashers...(but not the same dentist)

  • He looks like David Gahan from Depeche Mode :) :) :)

  • Beautiful with or without

  • Cool, but the soundtrack isn't synched with the video.

  • i thought it was Rick Astley !

  • Elvis is THE only flame in town

  • Actually, he is quite attractive in a funny way, if I met him, I would think 'he's a bit of alright!'

  • @patc161 I think he's attractive too. :)

  • Glasses or not, the mans a genius.

  • put em back on!!!!

  • I've been a BIG fan since I 1st heard the flexi disc with WTDetectives & WTTWWeek. I've seen him 1/2 doz times across his career. I didn't know he'd done a vid without specs & am even more amazed taht he had a rat's tail.

Good song - bad sax. I was shocked about the Darryl Hall duet but then again he's gone on to do stranger & weirder things.

    Thnaks for posting.

  • Wow! I've never seen Elvis without his glasses or shades! Thanks for posting this vid. I always loved this song and the harmony with Daryl Hall.

  • I thought it was a duet with McCartney.

  • Oh my, I think I'm in love=)

  • Comment removed

  • Lots of fans trashed this song, and I've always loved it!!

  • 1:56- three seconds of utter cuteness

  • oh i have a crush...

  • moi aussi but that's a problem cause I'm only 16

  • At first I was skeptical... Elvis without glasses? Eh. His specs were kinda his signature. But I guess he is just so darn cute and charming that anything goes! *sigh* What a doll!

  • pretty much

  • he looks so different without his glasses. Nice. XD

  • Wow, it's relly weird seeing Elvis without his glasses on, but he now I can see that he has relly nice thin eyebrows (yes I'm an eyebrow preson, I now it's weird).

  • he looks so different without his glasses!!!! i like him better with!

  • A great Hall&Oates song.

  • I think you'll find it was written by Mr. Costello. Although Mr. Hall does sing on it.

  • Quite handsome and personally I think the gap in his teeth gives him alluring sex appeal.

  • This song is good. Shipbuilding was good. It's "I Write the Book" that wasn't so hot. It also showed him doing simple pop better than everyone else's trash (Thompson Twins comes to mind). If Thompson Twins could have pulled off something like this, their heads would have collectively exploded. P.S. How Irish is this lad, anyway?

  • I cannot, for the life of me, understand why so many people trashed this song and Elvis without his glasses. I think the song is fabulous, I've loved it from the first time I heard it. Elvis and Darryl sound great together. And I LOVE the way he looks without his glasses. Hey Joshua65 - this made me happy.

  • it's like one of those dogs with 3 legs, it just looks wrong.

  • I don't know why everyone hates this song. I love it.. I heard a slightly longer version with more instrumental.

Does anyone know how I can get it??

  • Amazing!!

  • He look like Adam Horovitz from the Beasties - bizarre...

  • From a poor album by EC standards some good , one or two great songs overwhelmed and obliterated by 80s gloss production.Maybe he took his glasses off so no one would recognise him.

  • This is just wrong somehow. I bet Columbia forced him into this to make him more friendly to an American audience.

  • ..bob mortimer's secret lost twin?

  • Dreadful.

  • Michael Phelps!

  • HAHAHAHAHA LMAO holy shit wow..hahaha..thats awful hahaha lol that guy..phelps seriously should only be photographed from the neck down. thats the only thing worth seeing. Sorry phelpsy..you may be a freaking machine in the pool but on solid ground? Your a freaking monster..at least your torso is sexy!

  • even an inferno

can cool down to an ember....

  • Nice hair tail.

  • Could almost be Bono.

  • kind of looks like a young bob dylan without the glasses

  • Only when I take my glasses off is that true.

  • I wonder if he was completely blind making this video.

  • wow! he looks completely different...

  • wow. one of the only people on earth who becomes uncool withOUT glasses. in fact, he becomes paul reubens.

  • Only that Paul Reubens IS cool! Pee wee all the way!

  • Abso-f**k-ing-lutely right on!

  • For some odd reason I thought of George Harrison's eyes at some points in this video. I think he looks fine, the teeth thing is nothing, listen to that voice!

  • This song was the first where I stopped saying Elvis can do no wrong.

  • (Elvis) - (glasses) + (fixed tooth gap) = Adam Horovitz

  • His glasses are goofy but totally awesome

  • so weird

  • Amazing how different a person can look with or without glasses. Amazing really.

  • i like his eyebrows, they seem to move more than his mouth hehe

    costellos awsome :D

  • Rather Joe Strummer looking...

  • I dig the version of the song with Darryl Hall and the win a date with the imposters contest. that was cool. The album is really good too. I dig the "Deportes Club".

  • I love the capslock title of this video.

  • GASP! no GLASSES?? I thought they grew from his head naturally...

  • this is truly classic costello. one of the sweetest most beautifully sung in his song catalog. if you don't get this one you don't get elvis.

  • IF YOU THINK THIS IS A BAD SONG, YOU ARE WRONG. It is a bad version. Listen to the live performance on Disc 2 of the Goodbye Cruel World re-issue.

  • I have mixes opinionsa about Costello. This one must be poorest he'd done. Saxophone ( and that particularly) and synths just sound rather irritating. He went to bad eighties sound with this one. Nevertheless I have trouble to digest most of his doings even though he cut some good pop songs and specially to other artists like Dave Edmunds ( Girls Talk) or Shakin' Pyramids (Just A Memory).

  • he still looks cool. is he doing ian anderson?

  • God, considering how good he usually is, this just sucks.

And he looks like John Turturro here.

  • weird....he loses the glasses and the talent goes too. this song bites! (and i like just about everything he's ever done)

  • wHATEVER NEXT? Wogan without his wig? Hansen without his smugness?

  • Jesus!!!

It´s practically unbelievable that the next step into Costello´s career (only one and an half year after this weird performance) was the absolutely GREAT "King of America"... (in fact, the logical next step after this kind-of-Morrissey hairdo, the contact lenses and the saxo/synthesizer Bach sample/Daryl Hall background I think it would be suicide...)

  • Weird. Elvis is to glasses as Keith Moon is to drums or Hendrix is to the guitar. they can't live without one another!

I bet his glasses felt so lonely as he shot this. :'(

  • Ben Stiller?

  • lol...(almost) beaten to the punch!

  • This is from "Goodbye Cruel World" which Elvis considers his worst album (1985).

"Punch The Clock" (the prior album: 1983) was, according to Elvis, "the record we went into record." where "Goodbye Cruel World" was not. I have a soft spot in my heart for "Goodbye" as it conjures up strong memories from that period in my life, but it is an odd and weak collection. ...and seeing EC without eyeglasses is just wrong!

  • The only bad thing on that album was the fucking yamaha synth. , which made it sound like pet shop boys.Otherwize

  • It's really only the two singles that were (at the producers' insistence) overproduced anyway. The rest has a few dated synth noises here 'n there but otherwise it's really perdy good by '84 standards, nothing distracting. Besdies, music would be boring if it always had "timeless" production values. =)

  • He looks like Adrock from the Beastie Boys.

  • Paul Weller's transition from The Jam to The Style Council was smooth and resulted in a continuation of good music; however, Elvis Costello's experimentation with more radio friendly Pop songs appears not to have turned out well at all. Thank goodness Elvis Costello came back to his senses and returned to his roots.

  • Who can tell Daryl Hall is on the song unless you watch the video? It's funny to watch the drummer not caring to act like he's playing the drums.

  • Shut the hell up Blatspanner! watch your language!

  • I like him in his horn rims better. I love a man with glasses! I don't think that Buddy would really look like Buddy with out the horn rims, of course, he did only have them for a few months, well, before, you know what happened...

  • elvis was not bad looking witout glasses. despite his fucked up teeth,lol...

  • I love this song. It's so hard to find!

  • Just wish there was a vid of Inch By Inch, best song from Goodby Cruel World. I know it's his most hated record by his own quotes but I still love that song. There's a couple rockers on there too like Sour Milk Cow Blues and Deportee Club...

  • Would Buddy Holly have ditched his glasses in an attempt to broaden his audience? Play this clip back-to-back with any number from EC and the Attractions on Rockpalast in June 1978 and you tell me which is the real deal. The song and album were a low point in a fairly amazing career. No wonder he would soon compose "Brilliant Mistake" for 1985's King of America.

  • A bad idea from an era of bad bad ideas. Uncomfortable little twirl near the end of the video too...good grief. Thankfully his senses returned to him quickly after these couple years of nonsense.

  • glasses being an affectation, or gimick? a la nerd rock hero.

  • I agree! How do you go from Imperial Bedroom to this adult contemporary crap?

  • holy shit! im scared

  • late 80's. the perfect song to end an era. and with a video of elvis w/o glaases. thanks for posting.

  • Late eighties? I think this is from 1983.

  • Wow he looks different without glasses.I thought he was cute before, but he looks really good like this.

  • Four eyes good, two eyes bad. Is that a pony tail emerging from the back of the Costelloid cranium? Eighties madness...

  • Go search his video "I Wanna Be Loved" and you see another shot were he looks straight into the camera and takes off his glasses near the end of the video. First time I ever saw him with out the glasses and I was really surprised that he is good-looking (not to say that in a gay way).

It's a good song too by the way.

  • He doesn't look bad, but you can tell he can't really focus. He looks like he's about to start crying.

  • no glasses

he still retains the limp and swagger

and the lip thing he has had since matriculation

  • Ahaaa..

I thought I'd never see the day.

    Kinda cute.

  • Dang! He looks damn different without it yet a bit better....

  • Wow. So strange! I'd only seen the version with Daryl Hall before.

  • Wow! He looks so different without his glasses.

Thank you for posting this video!!
