I can't speak for anyone else but the UOPHX worked for me. I'd been working it IT for over 15 years. Went to community colleges and the like during that time. Finished my last 2 years of school with Phoenix. My degree carries the same weight as one from many major universities. Of course, I got a pretty good job now and most likely would have got it without the degree. Having done brick and mortar as well as online. Either way will be what you make of it.
@nellaad You did what you had to do to secure a job, so there should be no regrets. U of P is not exactly a fraud school (like some other for-profit colleges). Their school of nursing is properly accredited. I happen to know a Dean at Coastline Community College who finished his education degree at U of P. He makes good money.
@nellaad I'm glad to hear it worked out for you. It seems to me that since U of P has instructors who actually have jobs in what they teach, it would be better for some subjects. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.
Academic arrogance = a response from traditional colleges unable to accept that technological unemployment is coming for them. That is all this is really about. Online universities will become the dominant force and are already getting there. I can learn just as much from this bias video as I can from any online lecture from my Instructors at UOPX, Kaplan, etc etc..Face it- Traidtional colleges are in the past.
@FutureCACPA Your requirements for any of those mentioned colleges comes in the form of graduating high school. That alone says a ton considering the terrible methods that are used at that level of learning. This is no different from any other community college(second most popular type of college). You get what you pay for, and an education at a college that will only accept a high SAT score is either very specialized, or trying to maintain a superficial image. See George Bush jr....
@adriank1223 Actually online for profit colleges are starting to fail because they leave students in a lot of debt, have low graduation rates, have no admission standards, low rigor, and questionable credentials in the end. Look up these institutions that you mentioned on rip off report.
@baritonebynight Unfortunately, everything that you said can be directly applied to PUBLIC colleges as well. University of Illinois system offers some online degree programs, and they have been getting some horrible complaints made by not only the academic community but also the students. There's no real teaching. They are simply text based. So the students feel ripped off because there're no lectures. The professors are pissed because they think online degrees're cheap.
@ttiiy Not all public colleges. None in my area have online degree programs and have standards for admission. For those who can't afford them, community college is a good option and then transferring to the 4 year institution is best.
@adriank1223 Negative, no matter how you try to justify it, UOPX and the like will always be a joke and never taken seriously. There aren't even academic requirements to get in the school!
@MarathonVeteran There aren't even academic requirements to get in the school? You're clearly a MORON that just shattered your own credibility. To enter U of P's RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program, you must have earned an associate's degree in nursing from a regionally or nationally accredited institution or diploma in nursing from a hospital school of nursing. You dumbass!
@ttiiyy U mad bro? Looks like I struck a nerve, let's face it. Your "University" of Phoenix degree is a waste of time and money and you people all know it.
@MarathonVeteran Here's another example. To enter their master programs, you must have a bachelor's degree (and meet the GPA requirement). For some master programs, you will even need to provide records of work experience. At Coastline Community College, one of its Deans Mr. Vinicio Lopez has a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Phoenix. What do you say about that, you dumbass?
@MarathonVeteran I highly doubt that you have a good college degree. You're probably some kind of loser that U of P will not take (or maybe get kicked out by U of P because you're too dumb to maintain good grades there). I have looked at the videos made by those losers that trash U of P. They're LOSERS that can't even survive at community colleges.
Actually called a bunch of jobs I am interested in applying for when I graduate, and none have mentioned any dislike towards the university. A few employers have even attended and graduated from there.
The University of Pheonix is also almost 3x more expensive than state universities in my state. That makes it really not worth it. You need to clarify your videos a bit. In the engineering field all professors are researching what could potentially be the future of the field. So I would rather learn from them than from say a random software developer. I understand for business school it would be the opposite.
What an absolute joke you all are, sitting here arguing whos school is the best. Just be happy to get a degree, something most people can't get. So what if Phoenix isn't number one? It's something! Something that will help you get a better job than what you could get without one.
Fucking jackasses. Fighting like youre better than anyone else. You arent, and never will be. Get use to that.
@t0iletphish Actually where you go to college does matter. You have to look at college as an investment because it is. Paying to attend UofP is a gamble in my opinion. Most people look at a degree from UofP as somewhat of a joke, and some HR department won't even hire people with these so called degree. College is expensive and you want to get your money worth. A Ferrari cost 200k would you pay 200k for a Kia and say hey its a car, its still something??
great universities dont need commercials b cuz they been here for 100s of yr oxford is 500 yrs old unlike useless school phoenix u. that bs company dont do tuittion reimbursement anymore.
You idiots are just jealous that you can't be a phoenix. I bet you went to Phoenix and flunked out because you can't do real college work. LMAO Poor souls.
@dassouda Everyone who goes to University of Failure ends up failing. Don't worry, one day you will wake up and realize 40,000 in debt and being a debt slave was not worth it.
I could call them up tomorrow and enroll in a matter of hours. There are no admission standards. My alma mater requires a sold SAT and GPA to gain admission.
LOL you are a stupid!
does harvard have commercials... no
does san diego state have commercials ..... no
phoenix needs to advertise since it has a poor rep!
@FutureCACPA University of Phoenix is for working adults. I cannot expect children to understand that. This college is not about "traditions", and "football stadiums". It is higher learning, for more mature people. Not for snotty nose kids who can only think about getting laid and how much money they are going to make when they finally grow up. It's about getting by, over coming hardships, and making something out of yourself. Things you don't, and will not ever understand.
Okay well this snotty nosed kid earns a nice salary plus bonus. University of Phoenix is underrepresented in high paying jobs and overrepresented in student loan defaults. Congress came to the conclusion that their admissions process attempts to mislead students.
I don't have hardships since I make good $ because I have an accredited degree. You are an old man who has obviously made many mistakes in his life. A for profit online school is not going to fix your mistakes.
@FutureCACPA You're a fucking idiot. I'm only 28, for one, and for two, I promise that I make more money than you. Your character is like that of a child and a pussy. Flaming people on YouTube for the sake of what? Proving that you're better than everyone else? Makes no sense. Get a life. I'm bored with this.
You look like a 40 year old but act like a child. Every single one of your posts is full of profanities typical of the classless students at UOP. You need braces, an etiquette lesson and a different hair style. Everything I have posted is true. What is your occupation?
@FutureCACPA I seriously don't care to have this discussion with brainless people anymore. And I invite you to come say that to my face and we'll see who has the last laugh then, pal. Stop being jealous of me. Bye now.
@FutureCACPA lol I find it funny that the moment you ask this guy what his occupation is (after pages of discussion on here), he claims he doesn't want to "have this discussion" anymore. lol
Well actually he is a photo lab guy at walgreens. just google his name after you go to his facebook off of his youtube. He has a linked in account . I find this hilarious!
@dassouda University is not about "traditions", frats, or "football stadiums" its about hard work, sacrifice, loss, pain, and small victories. I am currently in school and I can tell you that anyone who says college was fun probably didn't work hard for it and left with a retarded GPA (below 3.0). UoP is for dumbasses who want to pretend they are on the same level as real academics. Its just one more way subpar ppl can pretend they're accomplished. LOL!
@JoeDaPlumber oooh wow, anything below a 3.0 is retarded and dumbass. thats the fakes and most untruthful think i have ever heard in my entire life. lol. loser. bet ur one of those guys who have a good gpa but it didnt do u shit with ur social skills with hot women lol. a gpa of 2.8 for example is still really well. people who have 4.0 gpas dont make more money than those with 2.5. probably the other way around. those with 4.0 dont have shit with common sense
@JoeDaPlumber bet ur one of those kids who out in public places like taverns, house parties, events, need to talk all about ur gpa and how good u are and how boring others are. but people listening to you think your boring because your not creative/you always talk one-sided way lol. i knew this one college guy who bragged he would someday make 400,000 being a doctor. then a year later he dropped the med school idea. so he was just talking big in the moment. just like u are now - talking big
If you easy persuaded "sheeple" had half an intelligent bone in your body, you'd know that Business Week magazine is about the most biased and unreliable source short of Fox News printing a magazine and calling it "What to Wear". Get a clue.
@FutureCACPA@agentxennith Phoenix doesn't have the AACSB accreditation, but it is a very good school if you are going for IT and don't have the means to attend a traditional college. I don't live near a traditional school for IT and I went to Phoenix for IT. It's not mad at all. Landed a job making 110k a year with a Bachelors of Science in IT. Don't listen to the static. It's a good school.
@FutureCACPA Then those CPA firms are bigoted biased imbeciles and if you were to Phoenix then why don't you challenge these people to test your knowledge? Unless you slacked while you were in school.
@FutureCACPA If you actually GO to college you'll learn how to research things like credibility. Something you don't have. Phoenix does have AACSB accreditation. Do your homework before you start calling names.
We were discussing CPA firms. I am informing you that CPA firms want to hire from accredited AACSB programs. Not university of phoenix an online for profit school with low standards.
@FutureCACPA Business degrees are a joke. Much like your attitude. Some of us didn't suck daddy's dick to get into big boy colleges that have your precious AACSB bullshit credentials for your bullshit degree. So STFU with your dumbstruck attitude toward people who have to go to college online and accept the fact that I chose the OLDEST and most PRESTIGIOUS online university available.. in the WORLD. Remember that when you are sobbing over your pathetic paycheck as the manager of Wal-Mart.
If you had read my posting you would understand that I work for a regional CPA firm. I do tax consulting for mid size public and private corporations.
Prestigous and online is an oxymoron! LMAO
You seem to be a very uncouth individual. The way you write with swear words dishonors your university. I pity you since this won't get you very far in life. You also are old which has destroyed your chances at certain jobs. Also shave your face you look like an ape.
Says the photo specialist at walgreens that makes 6 buxx an hour to the tax consultant that makes 45k+bonuses. =D and you are 20 years older than me! OLD MAN
@AgentXennith Look, I am currently studying Accounting at UCLA and trust me I have compared Accounting programs b/c of a research paper I wrote in 2010 and my findings pretty much proved FutureCACPA right. I have analyzed their financial statements, default rates, and Congressional hearing transcripts even an interview with Everest and UoP. The default rates at UoP are not as staggering as Everest and ITT but substantially more than someone from a UC. Some for profits beat community colleges.
Hi. I have a Masters of Arts in Information Technology (psst, that's an "MIT") from the University of Phoenix. How much less is your income from mine? Probably substantially more than you can even think about. Why? Because the UoP is very much worth it. You based your entire biased opinion off one magazine article? It is people like you that need college to learn how to think critically. You cannot take everything at face value. Try doing your research.
Dude, you need to get a life, you got way too much time on your hands! Whats your problem? Are you jealous of people who are going to college and are actually doing something with their lives?! And why bash the University of Phoenix. Did you know that the U.O.P. has the same accreditation as Harvard and Yale. So mind your own fucking business asshole!!!
@dennyg39 Are you out of your fucking mind? Same as Harvard or YALE? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You must be high.UoP is accredited by North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, The Higher Learning Commission.
Harvard by New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. Shows how much you know idiot.
Yes, the UOP is accredited. But i know, almost no employers in my city would not accept a degree from UOP as a legitimate degree, i KNOW for one the local corrections and police department does NOT accept criminal justice degrees from the UOP. Case in point. I love it when UOP calls me like 7am in the morning and 9pm at night, i simply reported them to the BBB!
Yes your right the school is accredited. Although is it respected in the job market? Let's be real here. If a student graduates from a non profit traditional university and you have a degree from UOP, who will the employer call first for an interview? Yeah that's what I thought. People need to understand just because you see your school on television doesn't mean it's the best school in America. Please, if you want a chance of getting hired, please go the traditional route, go to a real school!
man fuck u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im getting sick and tired of ppl like u bashing that skool im currently at a community college and i frekin hate it my mom wants me to transfer badly and i cnt do it its to difficult ive been trying every other college like uei and itt tech and im getting tired of ppl like u saying if u go there ure not getting a real education i wish i could go to sdsu but i cnt cus im to frekin dumb i can barely do long division
I know some one who turned in an email as his paper. He thought this teacher was not reading the papers. so he turned in a random email with the right amount of words. Guess what.. he got an A on it............ Great school.. he also got an email telling him how good his paper was........ lol what a joke school...
I know that sounds so silly. I am a University of Phoenix student. I just want to know that I will still be able to get a hob. I had no other options. I am a single mother and a narcoleptic. I live on Fort Carson and cannot leave the base and get back on unless one of my parents are with me. So fare it has been good. I just hate that posting can be confusing.
-Lord Jesus Christ still loves and only He can saves from sins.
I earned my degrees a traditional university and at the University of Phoenix. My degree has helped me to find work and has opened many doors for me.
@stitches815 my company doesn't investigate the quality of the schools, only that they are accredited. And that is the point of my post. UOP should not be accredited with the level of education they provide. In my degree (BSIT), you would be no more prepared to enter that field than had you taken a couple semesters of basic computer knowledge courses at a local college. It is a joke and a ripoff to say the very least!
As a former graduate of UOP 2006 with a BSIT, I would NEVER hire anyone who's only background in the field they wish to enter is a degree from UOP Online. I stuck with the program because I was already working in my field and my company was paying for my tuition and would not allow me to change schools midstream. By the time I learned how useless their core classes were, it was too late. It's a joke. They should be investigated and forced to change or shut down.
@capacitiveleak This is the problem.. People go into college expecting to become some high powered figure off the bat.. My husband worked his way up in engineering with no degrees, he trains "traditional collge graduates" and swears blind they are completely useless. Regardless of your education careers still take dedication and hard work. Your company supported UOPX, which should be a testiment to their credibility..
You've got a good point. Even if "U of P" were to beef up its curriculum to ivy league standards, America just isn't ready to "buy" into for-profit colleges like UP. I went to a brick-and-mortar state university and got a degree in Public Administration. Out of my 120 credit hours to earn my BA, only 36 of those were Public Administration courses! The rest was just a bunch of geneds i don't care about. I like how UP's curriculum is more focused on what you want to do.
I went to Devry. When you go to a school that is run by corporate sharks, you are actually in a much better position to be a corporate shark yourself. I made more than anyone else I know. P.S. All colleges are scams no matter which way you slice or dice it.
Most people know the University of Phoenix is a gimmick school.
But, you think a degree doesn't help get work in general? Every decent job I see advertised these days require a min of a bachelors if not higher. Business, healthcare, sciences, law, architecture, ect.
Even English has a point if you want to be an English college professor lets say. And a Pysch degree with a PHD is what's needed to be a head doctor. Right?
@mderow1 I am currently attending an on-campus program at UOP for my undergraduate. I find it interesting that he states that graduates will be victims of "academic arrogance". He himself is perpetuating this stigma by having this video uploaded to YouTube. I can assure you that if you ask anyone who attends this school, they will inform you that this curriculum is effective and has more of an emphasis on presence in the workplace than any other college i have seen. Real life instructors.
@Bodyworx25 now, real life instructors huh? I suppose the professor down at Harvard or Yale is fake and not highly acclaimed with no real life experience. The thing about profs at UoP is that they are excrement that is left over. I am actually intimidated by my profs. Fullbright scholars, former CEOs, and respected in their fields. And about UoP curriculum, 6 weeks and group study does not constitute as school
Yep you even get distinguished professors at regional state colleges. I have had 2 fortune 500 finance managers, 3 senior managers for national and regional CPA firms and dozens of professors with great experiences in and out of the classroom. I do bet that UoP has good professors. They have the $ to get them. The problem is employers are skeptical of their degrees.
@FutureCACPA Hey you're an accountant right (or going to be one)? I am studying Accounting 1A what is the worst you've had in your accounting classes? I hear auditing is the worst ever.
In Accounting, there are prime instructors everywhere in the field but when it comes to a more closed science like those of social sciences those instructors are harder to find.
University of Phoenix is sucking the money out of the government by taking advantage of the American people stupidity. University of Phoenix has the lowest retention rate of freshmen, only 7% moving on to the next year. University of Phoenix has only 27% graduation rate and over 18% default rate. Having worked for one of the top 3 US banks in the student loan industry I have witnessed the scam tactics they use to get students and I have talked to those students who were defaulting and were unemp

@joshuarayborn Well, (This is a tought-pause word in speech or folksy writing but is wordy and inappropriate in professional writing.) I assume (Avoid the use of first person unless writing about a personal experience.) that you (Eliminate second person and avoid addressing the reader directly.) Finally, your last sentence is too wordy. Consider removing "that" or "that is" and revising. (4.0 English - Go Fuck Yourself)
@dassouda what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
@dassouda There mere fact that University of Failure has the top loan default rate means University of failure is a scam. 13 percent is their default rate despite them being accused of manipulating the data. The real number is closer to 33 percent. So go fuck yourself.
@joshuarayborn So basically what you're saying is: "The US Department of Education has provided accreditation to the University of Phoenix (a scam by standards of persons herein) and provides government tax dollars unto its student body through the Federal Student Aid fund. Furthermore, they perform this blessing foolishly and carelessly as if they do not have a clue in the world that the University of Phoenix is in fact a scam? Yeah. You're right. THAT MAKES TOTAL FUCKING SENSE YOU ASS HAT!!
@dassouda It is called a corporatist fascist government. It is the same way JP Morgan Chase and Bank of America were able to score billions in bailout money. Douche.
@joshuarayborn Yeah, wow, I have no where near 40,000 of debt. You obviously are not that smart, and more so than likely, screwed your credit up BEFORE you went to University of Phoenix, and probably over drafted your Chase Bank Account, as well as your parents Bank of America account. Of course, this is just speculation. And you are probably one of those idiot people that thinks its everyone else's fault that you are an out of control idiot who trolls on YouTube. Good job fail-boy.
5 dollars debt for a phoenix degree is too much. Your degree is not respected and sub par to any accredited traditional university. However it may help you in your endeavor to make it to the top of the photo department at the retail store you work at!!!
-There is really no shortage in nursing. They fire older nurses that are high paid and use that money to hire 2 new nurse.
-Most institution and teachers are a bunch of liar. They tell student will make 70k/year. Most of the new grad nurses can't even get an interview. Lying scum bags.
@ferrari4sale That was my point too. If students are so "smart" then how come they haven't seen past the smoke screen? All that time and money spent doing those tedious math problems, busy work, and busy readings thrown in with the slight amount of technical advise and training doesn't even prepare you for the job, on top of that you don't even get hired, if you do your salary isn't that good. What would be best is on the job technical training instead of years and years of college.
@dutytocareforothers I am a sophomore at UOPX and even I know that college in general is a scam.. You do it because more and more jobs require degrees, and on top of that you are making some kind of effort to improve, and college is the system in place. Even I know that I will have to "climb the ladder" in my field. But I can't even do admin work in my field with out a degree, simple as..
FOR PROFIT SCHOOLS SHOULD NOT GET FUNDING FROM THE GOVT WHEN ITS A CORP. THATS NOT FAIR TO TRADITIONAL SCHOOLS THAT ARE USUALLY GEARED TOWARDS THE BETTER OF THE STUDENT.
traditional government colleges are NOT fair to students either
they are in bed with the student loan companies and keep raising tuition to get kickbacks from the lenders, they spend taxpayer money on football stadiums & basketball courts , they let good athletes go to college for free, they provide useless majors and classes, and remedial classes to teach students who can't even do high school level math and English, etc.
@DontGoToCollege. In the beginning of my education, I was a "prep" college remedial student. Two years later, I am a now attending Duke with Honors. So I am very grateful for my community college foundation. Quite Honestly, Yes it is not fair that athletes go to college free. But, I feel this scam from For Profit schools is a much bigger deal then some basketball player going to college for free.
@DontGoToCollege I dont' see anything wrong with remedial classes. The remedial students want to better their skills in which they didn't learn in high school because of poor public education. I remember that many of my teachers in high school were passive-aggressive little jerks who made learning intentionally convoluted and problematic. If you are majoring in the liberal arts then you can get by without knowing too much math anyway. It's not like math or english majors are getting good jobs.
@DontGoToCollege ive thought the same thing throughout high school, im 18 and go to ivy tech right now. But ive noticed that if you have a talent or are an athlete than you can go for free or your tuition will be mostly paid for by colleges or the government. It seems as though to me that america is mainly an entertainment based country. Like you said yourself they spend our taxpayer money on stadiums, but what if im not into basketball? I might as well try and find a talent than go to college.
@JoeDaPlumber I never said that "you" specificly were an idiot. I said it seems like all of the athletes get it easier than everyone else. And i got to ivy tech and get financial aid so im basicly getting paid to go to school also. Athletes get it off easier because this country is entertainment based when we should be more similar to china, japan, korea, india and pay money to the people who actually contribute to society like doctirs and inventors.
@year2kill2010 I am happy with my money. Yeah the athletes do have it easier than the rest of us just look at UCLA where they get priority enrollment. It pisses the rest of us off (especially since their football team has been sucking for so many years). I don't despair though because at the end of the day I have the A and they despite all of the favoritism may end up with a mediocre B. And what the hell is Ivy Tech?
@JoeDaPlumber U cant be serious? Ivy tech is a community college thats pretty cheap to go to and its like a school that helps older and younger people get like an associates degree or credits cheaper. Im 18 and trying to get my gen eds outta the way thats why im going to ivy tech. And a B isnt that bad dude, if you have a transcript full of B's id say thats pretty good. And even a "mediocre B" is still a B because colleges dont count pluses or minuses.
@year2kill2010 It is smart to get your gen eds out of the way at a community college but, am with JoeDaPlumber in a B being mediocre. True it will get you the credit, but you will need a GPA of at least 3.5 to get into the more competitive and usually higher paying programs. My program will not accept a sub-3.5 GPA/outstate & 3.0 instate. Colleges do use the plus/minus system the entire University System of Georgia with the exception of my school, Georgia Tech, is on the plus minus system.
@b4rbalarfer I guess it depends on your own major that it matters on B's or not but i know that in indiana colleges dont even show a plus or minus on a transcript.
lots of times the quality of the education is not relevant. Degrees are just window dressing to land a job. Even if UOP provided the best education in the world, it would be difficult in most cases to justify the cost if employers do not recognize the degree
Your post is strictly an opinion post. You spend that money for a regionally accredited degree, there is a reason why there classes are transferable to all State schools. Yes it is regionally accredited. And no, nobody laughs at their degree's people laugh at people without them. Your video offered zero substance.
@blueyourmom123 i totally agree with you, I feel this video was a waste of time and had no true meaning. If the government is going to give a school the name University then obviously the government sees it fit to provide the education the students need to be successful in life... This guy sounds like a dbag and was talking out of his ass..
@R3N3G86 Not only that but if you ask anybody who attended school while serving in the military and almost 100 percent of them will tell you the UoP. Does this mean we are providing our servicemen subpar degree's and a bad education. Or does it mean that this retard has no idea what he's talking about. You decide.
According to the schedule of classes at UoP's website and the one give to me by the "admissions adviser" Economics is bunched up into one course. Perhaps its a difference in campus but thats what I am seeing here. If you would like I can send you a link to this info.
@JoeDaPlumber I will see what links I can send you. Many of the links that may have the info you are looking for are secured and you may not be able to access them just for viewing purposes unless you are a student? I will look online however and see if I can help you find something to satisfy your curiousity
what do you mean? I know many of my classmates personally because i was stationed with them. And I attend the school, I am not a drunk bum, I do not even drink...at all. There are good apples and bad apples everywhere and e cannot judge a whole student body because of one article, that would be irrational.
The prob with UoP is that their curriculum is abbreviated and therefore there HAS TO BE things that have to be left out. Example is the Principles of Economics which is only a 5 week course which covers Macroecon and micro THATS RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!
@JoeDaPlumber yes, I took that class and it was very challenging because they try to compress all of this info into an allotted timeframe so everything in that course was so CRAMMED...but so do lots of other schools online or ground. I think UoP just gets a lot of criticism because they are so in your face esp with those cheesy commercials...but hey I guess any type of publicity is good?? I have gotten pretty good offers so I think many employers are jumping onto the online edu bandwagon ?? lol
@bellasphinxnyc but its not realistic. You can not cram 2 subjects which regularly take 10 weeks total and studying intensely for 3 hours 4 days a week. Its IMPOSSIBLE! And those group tests really do take the cake. I am sorry but UoP is really a lite education that can not be compared to traditional schools. And this isn't about academic arrogance its about whats right. If UoP stopped this abbreviated curriculum than maybe yeah its acceptable
@JoeDaPlumber oh no macroeconomics and microeconomics are not combined..ECO/372 PRINCIPLES OF MACROECONOMICS is one course and then the other one is a whole other course...but I totally understand why you feel the way you do. Had I not been active duty, I would have opted another school, but what can you do, you know? There are many schools with similar curriculums, maybe because they need students in the real world and getting experience and not taking forever in college? i dunno...Joe.. ??
@bellasphinxnyc You do know that speed eventually diminishes quality. The only schools I know of which have similar abbreviated curriculum are for-profit colleges. Traditional colleges only shorten their curriculum to 6 weeks but its intense and there are no group tests. I keep hearing this real world experience argument but in reality it might just train you to be unemployed. College takes 4 years if students don't like it they can go get scammed by schools like UoP or Everest
@JoeDaPlumber The bachelor program at UoP does take 4 years..the associates takes 2 years and the master's program takes 6 years..have you heard otherwise? This is correct info...sorry if the way I worded my response was confusing..PS what are these "group tests" that you keep referring to? I am graduating this summer and have never taken a "group test" we do however have timed finals that once you submit you cannot log back in or change any answers..
@JoeDaPlumber The assignments are pretty intense Joe, I made pretty good grades all my life and always was in those "gifted and talented" programs and I think you may be a bit hard on the UoP curriculum, without having first hand knowledge. Some of your info is a bit misconstrued like the whole "group test" thing and your info on our classes.I can send you a sample syllabus if you like.My sister just graduated from John Jay College Criminal Justice in NY and she agreed our workload was challengin
@bellasphinxnyc I would love a sample syllabus! I would be very grateful for a piece of information like that. But something strikes me as odd, don't you think its a little weird that you have a final in front of a computer by yourself? Sounds a little off. I'll send you my email via pm. Thanks for the opportunity to view this.
I just reviewed your vid, I am actually getting paid by UCLA to attend their school. Its scholarships and so on. Of course some of the cost isn't met but I still make my fair share of money.
In my first video, I say "except for a few career choices such as medicine, law, or science"
I was surprised to find nursing was among the top ten majors in the US. I didn't know this before. I'm sure it will create a surplus of nurses in the future like you said.
Of course some colleges are cashing in on the craze to get a "degree"
Nowadays they have college degrees for anything, like home ec, gardening, etc.
Even a business degree won't mean anything unless you have business connections. After all, that is business. Why do you think everyone else in some many countries is poor? THey don't have connections.
Some prospective employers have seen UOP as innovative and that it gave me an "edge" while others questioned the value of the education. I am not yet done, but I have had some pretty good offers, not sure if it is because of my military and global experience or a combination of my persistence in trying to reach my end while on assignments abroad. UOP is the only way I was able to complete courses in many cases. I think the fear of the "unknown" makes some employers wary of UoP...
In regard to your teacher argument, these teachers while they may have experience in their field they are not appropiately trained to be teachers which cause a second rate education. You have probably read all of the articles written in newspapers about UoP and how crappy their education is
@JoeDaPlumber I am actually having a really hard time with my current finance class so if you or anyone out there wants to look over some material, (perfect opportunity to see what type of materials are given to students in our field of study) I am open to suggestions/advice! Thanks guys :) :)
I've had many government schools teachers/professors who were horrible. Whatever "training" they received did nothing for them. The chance of getting a lousy teacher I believe is higher in a government school because they are harder to fire.
I don't think a UoP "education" is any more "crappy" than a government school "education". However, to many people is it and people should be aware that many think UoP is not a "real education.
Either way will be what you make of it.
nellaad 1 month ago
@nellaad You did what you had to do to secure a job, so there should be no regrets. U of P is not exactly a fraud school (like some other for-profit colleges). Their school of nursing is properly accredited. I happen to know a Dean at Coastline Community College who finished his education degree at U of P. He makes good money.
ttiiyy 1 month ago
@nellaad I'm glad to hear it worked out for you. It seems to me that since U of P has instructors who actually have jobs in what they teach, it would be better for some subjects. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.

Academic arrogance = a response from traditional colleges unable to accept that technological unemployment is coming for them. That is all this is really about. Online universities will become the dominant force and are already getting there. I can learn just as much from this bias video as I can from any online lecture from my Instructors at UOPX, Kaplan, etc etc..Face it- Traidtional colleges are in the past.
adriank1223 4 months ago
@adriank1223
Phoenix, Kaplan, Devry, and other online colleges are underrepresented in high paying jobs and overrepresented in student loan defaults....
They have no SAT requirement, grade requirement or any admissions requirement!
Need I say more?
FutureCACPA 3 months ago
@FutureCACPA Your requirements for any of those mentioned colleges comes in the form of graduating high school. That alone says a ton considering the terrible methods that are used at that level of learning. This is no different from any other community college(second most popular type of college). You get what you pay for, and an education at a college that will only accept a high SAT score is either very specialized, or trying to maintain a superficial image. See George Bush jr....
adriank1223 3 months ago
@adriank1223 Actually online for profit colleges are starting to fail because they leave students in a lot of debt, have low graduation rates, have no admission standards, low rigor, and questionable credentials in the end. Look up these institutions that you mentioned on rip off report.
baritonebynight 2 months ago
@baritonebynight Unfortunately, everything that you said can be directly applied to PUBLIC colleges as well. University of Illinois system offers some online degree programs, and they have been getting some horrible complaints made by not only the academic community but also the students. There's no real teaching. They are simply text based. So the students feel ripped off because there're no lectures. The professors are pissed because they think online degrees're cheap.
ttiiyy 1 month ago

You dumbass!
ttiiyy 1 month ago
@ttiiyy U mad bro? Looks like I struck a nerve, let's face it. Your "University" of Phoenix degree is a waste of time and money and you people all know it.
MarathonVeteran 1 month ago
@MarathonVeteran Here's another example. To enter their master programs, you must have a bachelor's degree (and meet the GPA requirement). For some master programs, you will even need to provide records of work experience. At Coastline Community College, one of its Deans Mr. Vinicio Lopez has a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Phoenix. What do you say about that, you dumbass?
ttiiyy 1 month ago
@MarathonVeteran I highly doubt that you have a good college degree. You're probably some kind of loser that U of P will not take (or maybe get kicked out by U of P because you're too dumb to maintain good grades there). I have looked at the videos made by those losers that trash U of P. They're LOSERS that can't even survive at community colleges.

Brett9897 5 months ago
What an absolute joke you all are, sitting here arguing whos school is the best. Just be happy to get a degree, something most people can't get. So what if Phoenix isn't number one? It's something! Something that will help you get a better job than what you could get without one.
Fucking jackasses. Fighting like youre better than anyone else. You arent, and never will be. Get use to that.
t0iletphish 6 months ago
@t0iletphish Actually where you go to college does matter. You have to look at college as an investment because it is. Paying to attend UofP is a gamble in my opinion. Most people look at a degree from UofP as somewhat of a joke, and some HR department won't even hire people with these so called degree. College is expensive and you want to get your money worth. It is higher learning, for more mature people. Not for snotty nose kids who can only think about getting laid and how much money they are going to make when they finally grow up. It's about getting by, over coming hardships, and making something out of yourself. Things you don't, and will not ever understand.

@stitches815 my company doesn't investigate the quality of the schools, only that they are accredited. And that is the point of my post. UOP should not be accredited with the level of education they provide. In my degree (BSIT), you would be no more prepared to enter that field than had you taken a couple semesters of basic computer knowledge courses at a local college. It is a joke and a ripoff to say the very least!
capacitiveleak 1 year ago
As a former graduate of UOP 2006 with a BSIT, I would NEVER hire anyone who's only background in the field they wish to enter is a degree from UOP Online. I stuck with the program because I was already working in my field and my company was paying for my tuition and would not allow me to change schools midstream. By the time I learned how useless their core classes were, it was too late. It's a joke. They should be investigated and forced to change or shut down.

@dassouda It is called a corporatist fascist government. It is the same way JP Morgan Chase and Bank of America were able to score billions in bailout money. Douche.
joshuarayborn 9 months ago
@joshuarayborn Yeah, wow, I have no where near 40,000 of debt. You obviously are not that smart, and more so than likely, screwed your credit up BEFORE you went to University of Phoenix, and probably over drafted your Chase Bank Account, as well as your parents Bank of America account. Of course, this is just speculation. And you are probably one of those idiot people that thinks its everyone else's fault that you are an out of control idiot who trolls on YouTube. Good job fail-boy.

LMAO
5 dollars debt for a phoenix degree is too much. Your degree is not respected and sub par to any accredited traditional university. However it may help you in your endeavor to make it to the top of the photo department at the retail store you work at!!!

You can't even find work with a nursing degree.
-Hospital are hiring foreigner for less.
-There is really no shortage in nursing. They fire older nurses that are high paid and use that money to hire 2 new nurse.
-Most institution and teachers are a bunch of liar. They tell student will make 70k/year. Most of the new grad nurses can't even get an interview. Lying scum bags.
ferrari4sale 1 year ago

BRo0kLyNSBadDest718 1 year ago
@BRo0kLyNSBadDest718
traditional government colleges are NOT fair to students either
they are in bed with the student loan companies and keep raising tuition to get kickbacks from the lenders, they spend taxpayer money on football stadiums & basketball courts , they let good athletes go to college for free, they provide useless majors and classes, and remedial classes to teach students who can't even do high school level math and English, etc.
DontGoToCollege 1 year ago 18
@DontGoToCollege. In the beginning of my education, I was a "prep" college remedial student. Two years later, I am a now attending Duke with Honors. So I am very grateful for my community college foundation. Quite Honestly, Yes it is not fair that athletes go to college free. But, I feel this scam from For Profit schools is a much bigger deal then some basketball player going to college for free.
BRo0kLyNSBadDest718 1 year ago
@DontGoToCollege I dont' see anything wrong with remedial classes. The remedial students want to better their skills in which they didn't learn in high school because of poor public education. I remember that many of my teachers in high school were passive-aggressive little jerks who made learning intentionally convoluted and problematic. If you are majoring in the liberal arts then you can get by without knowing too much math anyway. It's not like math or english majors are getting good jobs.
dutytocareforothers 1 year ago
@DontGoToCollege ive thought the same thing throughout high school, im 18 and go to ivy tech right now. But ive noticed that if you have a talent or are an athlete than you can go for free or your tuition will be mostly paid for by colleges or the government. It seems as though to me that america is mainly an entertainment based country. Like you said yourself they spend our taxpayer money on stadiums, but what if im not into basketball? I might as well try and find a talent than go to college.
year2kill2010 1 year ago
@year2kill2010 what are you talking about? I am an idiot and UCLA is paying me to go to school. I am not an athlete I just work hard.
JoeDaPlumber 1 year ago
@JoeDaPlumber I never said that "you" specificly were an idiot. I said it seems like all of the athletes get it easier than everyone else. And i got to ivy tech and get financial aid so im basicly getting paid to go to school also. Athletes get it off easier because this country is entertainment based when we should be more similar to china, japan, korea, india and pay money to the people who actually contribute to society like doctirs and inventors.
year2kill2010 1 year ago
@year2kill2010 I am happy with my money. Yeah the athletes do have it easier than the rest of us just look at UCLA where they get priority enrollment. It pisses the rest of us off (especially since their football team has been sucking for so many years). I don't despair though because at the end of the day I have the A and they despite all of the favoritism may end up with a mediocre B. And what the hell is Ivy Tech?
JoeDaPlumber 1 year ago
@JoeDaPlumber U cant be serious? Ivy tech is a community college thats pretty cheap to go to and its like a school that helps older and younger people get like an associates degree or credits cheaper. Im 18 and trying to get my gen eds outta the way thats why im going to ivy tech. And a B isnt that bad dude, if you have a transcript full of B's id say thats pretty good. And even a "mediocre B" is still a B because colleges dont count pluses or minuses.
year2kill2010 1 year ago
@year2kill2010 It is smart to get your gen eds out of the way at a community college but, am with JoeDaPlumber in a B being mediocre. True it will get you the credit, but you will need a GPA of at least 3.5 to get into the more competitive and usually higher paying programs. My program will not accept a sub-3.5 GPA/outstate & 3.0 instate. Colleges do use the plus/minus system the entire University System of Georgia with the exception of my school, Georgia Tech, is on the plus minus system.
b4rbalarfer 1 year ago
@b4rbalarfer I guess it depends on your own major that it matters on B's or not but i know that in indiana colleges dont even show a plus or minus on a transcript.
year2kill2010 1 year ago
@BRo0kLyNSBadDest718 The credits are transferable. So why not?
dassouda 9 months ago
lots of times the quality of the education is not relevant. Degrees are just window dressing to land a job. Even if UOP provided the best education in the world, it would be difficult in most cases to justify the cost if employers do not recognize the degree
lostprophet912 1 year ago
Your post is strictly an opinion post. You spend that money for a regionally accredited degree, there is a reason why there classes are transferable to all State schools. Yes it is regionally accredited. And no, nobody laughs at their degree's people laugh at people without them. Your video offered zero substance.
blueyourmom123 1 year ago
@blueyourmom123 i totally agree with you, I feel this video was a waste of time and had no true meaning. If the government is going to give a school the name University then obviously the government sees it fit to provide the education the students need to be successful in life... This guy sounds like a dbag and was talking out of his ass..
R3N3G86 1 year ago
@R3N3G86 Not only that but if you ask anybody who attended school while serving in the military and almost 100 percent of them will tell you the UoP. Does this mean we are providing our servicemen subpar degree's and a bad education. Or does it mean that this retard has no idea what he's talking about. You decide.
blueyourmom123 1 year ago
the degree from UOP is worth as much as toilet paper
you are better of with a 2 year degree from a community college over even a masters from UOP lol
bottle2lip 1 year ago
Also bella,
According to the schedule of classes at UoP's website and the one give to me by the "admissions adviser" Economics is bunched up into one course. Perhaps its a difference in campus but thats what I am seeing here. If you would like I can send you a link to this info.
JoeDaPlumber 1 year ago
@JoeDaPlumber I will see what links I can send you. Many of the links that may have the info you are looking for are secured and you may not be able to access them just for viewing purposes unless you are a student? I will look online however and see if I can help you find something to satisfy your curiousity
bellasphinxnyc 1 year ago
I've actually heard otherwise about employers. I've heard that they throw away most resumes that even show an online school or for profit
JoeDaPlumber 1 year ago
what do you mean? I know many of my classmates personally because i was stationed with them. And I attend the school, I am not a drunk bum, I do not even drink...at all. There are good apples and bad apples everywhere and e cannot judge a whole student body because of one article, that would be irrational.
bellasphinxnyc 1 year ago
The prob with UoP is that their curriculum is abbreviated and therefore there HAS TO BE things that have to be left out. Example is the Principles of Economics which is only a 5 week course which covers Macroecon and micro THATS RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!
JoeDaPlumber 1 year ago
@JoeDaPlumber yes, I took that class and it was very challenging because they try to compress all of this info into an allotted timeframe so everything in that course was so CRAMMED...but so do lots of other schools online or ground. I think UoP just gets a lot of criticism because they are so in your face esp with those cheesy commercials...but hey I guess any type of publicity is good?? I have gotten pretty good offers so I think many employers are jumping onto the online edu bandwagon ?? lol
bellasphinxnyc 1 year ago
@bellasphinxnyc but its not realistic. You can not cram 2 subjects which regularly take 10 weeks total and studying intensely for 3 hours 4 days a week. Its IMPOSSIBLE! And those group tests really do take the cake. I am sorry but UoP is really a lite education that can not be compared to traditional schools. And this isn't about academic arrogance its about whats right. If UoP stopped this abbreviated curriculum than maybe yeah its acceptable
JoeDaPlumber 1 year ago
@JoeDaPlumber oh no macroeconomics and microeconomics are not combined..ECO/372 PRINCIPLES OF MACROECONOMICS is one course and then the other one is a whole other course...but I totally understand why you feel the way you do. Had I not been active duty, I would have opted another school, but what can you do, you know? There are many schools with similar curriculums, maybe because they need students in the real world and getting experience and not taking forever in college? i dunno...Joe.. ??
bellasphinxnyc 1 year ago
@bellasphinxnyc You do know that speed eventually diminishes quality. The only schools I know of which have similar abbreviated curriculum are for-profit colleges. Traditional colleges only shorten their curriculum to 6 weeks but its intense and there are no group tests. I keep hearing this real world experience argument but in reality it might just train you to be unemployed. College takes 4 years if students don't like it they can go get scammed by schools like UoP or Everest
JoeDaPlumber 1 year ago
@JoeDaPlumber The bachelor program at UoP does take 4 years..the associates takes 2 years and the master's program takes 6 years..have you heard otherwise? This is correct info...sorry if the way I worded my response was confusing..PS what are these "group tests" that you keep referring to? I am graduating this summer and have never taken a "group test" we do however have timed finals that once you submit you cannot log back in or change any answers..
bellasphinxnyc 1 year ago
@JoeDaPlumber The assignments are pretty intense Joe, I made pretty good grades all my life and always was in those "gifted and talented" programs and I think you may be a bit hard on the UoP curriculum, without having first hand knowledge. Some of your info is a bit misconstrued like the whole "group test" thing and your info on our classes.I can send you a sample syllabus if you like.My sister just graduated from John Jay College Criminal Justice in NY and she agreed our workload was challengin
bellasphinxnyc 1 year ago
@bellasphinxnyc I would love a sample syllabus! I would be very grateful for a piece of information like that. But something strikes me as odd, don't you think its a little weird that you have a final in front of a computer by yourself? Sounds a little off. I'll send you my email via pm. Thanks for the opportunity to view this.
JoeDaPlumber 1 year ago
@JoeDaPlumber I will send you the final as well...that joker was hard!!!! ROFL

You mentioned that getting a degree as a nurse or doctor would be the only one worth it. Don't forget physics, math, and higher science in general.
As for nursing, so many are gettting that degree that it will flood future markets and the salary for Nurses will Drop in the next decade most likely

I think the fear of the "unknown" makes some employers wary of UoP...
bellasphinxnyc 1 year ago
@bellasphinxnyc
Read hardselling the homeless in businessweek and you will want to drop out of UOP if you are a rational person. You are in class with drunk bums!
Rockynurse 1 year ago
In regard to your teacher argument, these teachers while they may have experience in their field they are not appropiately trained to be teachers which cause a second rate education. You have probably read all of the articles written in newspapers about UoP and how crappy their education is
JoeDaPlumber 1 year ago
@JoeDaPlumber I am actually having a really hard time with my current finance class so if you or anyone out there wants to look over some material, (perfect opportunity to see what type of materials are given to students in our field of study) I am open to suggestions/advice! Thanks guys :) :)
bellasphinxnyc 1 year ago
@JoeDaPlumber
Newspapers will report whatever is sensational.
