The King's singers in those days were all great entertainers. I'm afraid that today's lineup, even if they are maybe even better singers, all lack the sense of comedy and timing from the 80's. Now that Stephen Connelly has left the group, there are no funny faces left in the group, and that's a pity, as humour was and should always be part of a King's singers concert.

Ah, how simple and uncorrupted our collective sense of humour was back in 1982, before the era of overexposure and being jaded and nonplussed by everything. In 2010 this probably wouldn't even draw much of a laugh from the audience; they'd expect to be entertained in a more direct and less subtle manner. I have seen the King's Singers in person, and they put on a phenomenal show. If you have the chance to go see them, I highly recommend it (for the music *and* for the humour.)
