Nas is my favorite MC of all time but damn I think AZ got him on this track. AZ went HAM on his second verse and did some acrobatic shit with his rhyme structures. Nas first verse was sort of lazy and he made it up with his second verse.
first nas verse for me. " Runnin with goons, with knife wounds from jail time. got the squad looking like tycoon we all Shine, while parle with the flyest mommy from 25th st. watch a hunny in the lex do it. im in the 6 v with the 12 next to it. @godson856 Nas kinda "sold out" during a period of his career, leaving "Nasty Nas" the poetic genius behind and trying to portray images that just weren't him (e.g. "Escobar", "Nastradamus" (the weakest he's ever been)). He'd remind people that his poetic skills and unfuckwitable lyricism were still there - Stillmatic, God's Son - but some things Nas did in the past can be labeled as "sell out" and simply shouldn't have happened (remember "Oochie Wally"? lol).
@gmn545 Oochie wally was a nasty/party joint at the time in NY....made chicks get crazy in the clubs and partys....never the less he still played himself doing that track
@MobiusX Well I'll agree Az did outshine Nas easily on this track. But Nas's verse does not kill the song. His verese were still good just not as good as AZ.

damn nas ruined the song, it's like he wasn't trying or something while az delivered great verses, but in the song mo money mo murder, nas is better, good verses by him, life is a bitch az wins that, phone tap is about even since they using a similar rapping style with similar lyrics, most az and nas songs az is better but that doesn't mean he's a better rapper, if you compare their best, nas wins that, that's why he's the better rapper
@MobiusX everyone is entitled to their opinion bc i feel Nas killed this song especially at the end. I think nas beats him in "the essence" and its even between them on "the flyest" but lifes a bitch i think nas beat him by a little
"With the black toaster/by my hip bone, fuck holster/ see me at the copa, platinum choka/ the gods wit me, mad blunt smoke its hard to miss me/ pick one out of 2 dimes to twist me............" Nas was a beast in his prime.
Man i HATE ego's these 2 cats made enuff joints together to put out an album, and i have a mixtape with all their joints together. But they could never get together to do a dynamic duo type joint together, damn shame. You can tell Jay-z wanted to be like these 2 nigga's. They was on that FLY SHIT way before dude.
AZ is so good that he's one of the few rappers that can b on the same track as nas n still hold his own n thats y this duo can't ever make a bad song.
LES my man from the bridge I haven't seen you in years you and Hot Day have always been the fresh on the 1 7 2 I ever seen come out The Bridge! Jarmont R.I.P. "Barkim"
ya'll killin the vibe to this track. just sit back and relax. this song is so chills...reminds me of the good ol days back in 98, damn life is good when your 17. BK go hard baby!!!! too bad these days of hiphop will never come back,

@jmi84 The Firm album was nas and AZ. Plus, why can't you believe it? As far as distant relatives- dont hate. that shit is incredible, period.
This was produced by LES, that's the same guy that produced "Life's a Bitch" (another great song with Nas and AZ). This song contains a sample from "Show Me" by Glenn Jones. This song was released on March 26, 1998. Ice Cube and Krazie Bone released their song on February 29, 2000. LES did another great job on this one. I miss those old school samples...

tats y niggaz alwayz sayin he sold his soul for riches and fames, guess it was worth it for him
@jpnraw man Jay aint never sold anything but records 50's A sell out doing only club, girl friendly songs singin the hooks & shit just to move units while he used to diss Ja Rule for doin the same shit. Jay kept it a 100 if u compare him with the nigga he used be 10 or 15 years ago of course he aint the same no more u gotta move on nigga stop livin in the past
well actually i can tell which iz the best since their styles r so difrent but LL has a sick flow no doubt about it of course he be doin a lotta lady friendly songs but he made a lotta good straight hip hop songs if u go back to "The GOAT" album u'll see what i'm talkin about he was goin hard on this one dont get fooled by the playboy image that nicca can spitant deny it
a lotta rappers grew up listenin to LL imitatin his style & shit that nicca iz the definiton of hip hop he been here since 85! that nicca is a livin legend whether u like his style or not u c
select features, sit back connect the pieces, inject the thesis, spoke to my pops and left him speechless..............wooooo oooow Az ur fuckin Nasty
people enough with the lists there are a shitload of dope mc's out there, more than ten, and probably more than twenty. stop fighting if big L pac and biggie were here today they'd be ashamed of all yall!! just enjoy the music and quit tryin to fuck each other up!
im wit you on this one. whos to say which are the best 10 or 20?? they all have madd skills and will outrhyme any of the cats that are arguin bout it all. quit dickriding and just enjoy the music. puff a blunt, sip a beer, do whatever you do and jus get lost in the music you like
WTF? These lists are fkin garbage! And what do people mean by the best? The best lyrically or who influenced the game the most? because real music doesnt get promoted
1. IS GOD MC = RAKIM ...pay your respect
then im not gonna list in any special order but REAL SHIT is, AZ, Old Nas, Canibus, Ras Kass, kool g rap, cool herc, melle mel, etc...
then you got semi-concious rappers out there that are spittin today like jadakiss, styles p, eminem,
then u got straight commercial bs aka wayne,50,ross
I feel where you coming from but your list is dated. Maybe for the late 80's or the early 90's that would been a good list but the game changed... Canibus COME ON he spit but L, Kiss and Cass have better punchlines than him and wheres Pac and Big they dont make the list. You right tho niggas sleeping on Rakim the original God MC but my list was based on who does the most for the game and whatnot. I have a few commerial rappers that does they thing and I have some niggas that keep the game level.
My list: 2pac Tupac Tupac Shakur Tupac Amaru Shakur Makevelli The don pac Biggie Nas Eminem Eazy-E AZ Thats about it, 2pac the greatest. best there is, the best there was, and the BEST THERE EVER WILL BE.
My list is: 1a) Big 2b) Pac 3) Kiss 4) Jay 5) Pun 6) Em 7) Nas 8) L 9) Styles 10) DMX Whoever dont agree wit my list fuck ya'll I study this hiphop shit. Now if you a old head or you been studying music since like 94 then Im not talking about but for all you other muthafuckas Im talking about you.
thats a good list mane. its tough to limit MCs though because there are mad good MCs out there and its really up to peoples preference of music. Everybody likes different shit.
Sorry...I like Ice Cube - Until We Rich better!

You ever listen to LL when he had beef with Canibus, LL does a lot of RnB but he blasted Canibus on the mixtape.
LL needs respect too.
