  • The engine oil should be at max if you check it before you start your car in the morning (or when it is completely cold). The heat of the motor doesn't really matter, it's just that when you've driven it, a lot of oil will be in the channels and on the camshafts and really allover in the engine itself. The dip stick goes into your oil pan which means that if you are driving, there will be less oil in the pan and more in the engine. When it's cold, most of the oil will have fallen back.
