Soo..reading all these comments and I can understand arguments by all parties, and they all seem futile. Both MMA and boxing are legitimate sports. Boxing showcases a much more technical standing game, with the exception of Muay Thai, while MMA showcases a much more well rounded game. They are all athletes competing at the highest level of their sports, and both are respectable. I prefer MMA over boxing, but if MMA isn't on tv, I would rather watch boxing than the NBA.

I'm just saying, mma is as far away from a streefight then boxing. In fact in a streetfighting hitting is the best option. You take a man down fast, what is good when you'r are going against multiple opponents(what in reality almost every time is the case). If you start wresling a guy on the floor the other guys will kick your head in a pulp. My brother ended his streetfighting career when he was ground and pounding a guy and his girlfriend was kicking his head with pointy shoes.

Now, if it is a multi-opponent fight, of course you don't go to the ground. Grappling, however, is not about taking the fight to the ground only. It's about learning to get up and not get taken down.

There is no reason for anybody to bash any sports. Its no doubt that an MMA fighter would beat a boxer just thrown in to the Octagon. Look at Kimbo vs Big Country on season 10 of TUF. But at the same time, there is no way in h*** that KenFlo, Frank Mir, or Forrest Griffin would ever stand a chance in the ring against the likes of Mayweather or Tyson. Their games are technically different, and thats why they are too different sports. Stop bashing each other and be greatful u can watch ur sport

Soo..reading all these comments and I can understand arguments by all parties, and they all seem futile. Both MMA and boxing are legitimate sports. Boxing showcases a much more technical standing game, with the exception of Muay Thai, while MMA showcases a much more well rounded game. They are all athletes competing at the highest level of their sports, and both are respectable. I prefer MMA over boxing, but if MMA isn't on tv, I would rather watch boxing than the NBA.

As far as MMA, not a lot of martial arts just brawling.I liked the PKA full contact Karate of the 80s. Boxing is also a martial art at it's higest levels. Hit and don't get hit. I respect your opinion, but I do suggest you google some videos of some MMA fighters such as Lyoto Machida, Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre and Fedor Emelianenko. I just think that'll make you realise how technique can be used to dominate any opponent.

The only way to keep kimbo successful would be to load his schedule with handpicked cans like exc did and I can't see the ufc bringing in the james thompsons of the world just for kimbo. Most likely they will try to get him the easiest matches they can with their current roster and send him along if he washes out
