this is what ive got and there a great gun.but just a word of warning if you are stood on the right hand side of someone shooting one,as the spent shells fire out about 16 foot.theres nothing worse than hot brass down the back of your neck lol

May be a little bit late... But in Switzerland, if you haven't any bad criminal records, you go to your local authority, say you want to buy a weapon, then they check your criminal records and you can get a semi automatic weapon. Like semi automatic sig 550 or almost any pistol etc. (even stuff like a desert eagle .50... they are fun to shot xD)

And if while you're in the military, you can take home your fully automatic 550. (for about 15 years)

Most male Swiss citizens serve in the army and get issued the longer version of this, the SIG-550. The 552 is issued to commando units or for FIBUA (house-to-house combat). Until this day, soldiers take their army equipment, including (fully automatic military) weapons, home between their service periods. This does not require a weapons license, you have your personal weapon as a member of the armed services, sometimes it's just at home with you :)

It's a 5.56mm. If you want a civilian version in the states look for the Sig 556. There's a variant that is very similar to the original military Sig 552.

i just had a few shots today and the instructor told me that if you put it on full auto, it will fire all 20 rounds at once. if you let go of the trigger or not. (it was on the SIG 550)

i thought it only fires till you let go of the trigger..

your instructor has given a little misunderstood. I dont know one situation where I or my soldiers, this can happens. We also practice in full-auto position to fire single-shot series. It doesent matter which magazine you have, 5s, 10s, 20s, 30s, or 100 series drum magazin, works only as long as the trigger is pressed...

I believe that the original model of the SIG rifle originated back in Nazi Germany during World War 2. The gun was created as one of the first assault rifles ever made. After the war, the idea of an automatic rifle was applied with the AK-47 which is famous today. This gun has history!!! Also, James Bond used it in the game Everything Or Nothing. :)
