@caduteacher no I meant she dragged out notes where she shouldn't have in this performance and it sounds like this was the beginning where she was starting to lose her voice to drug habits or years of live singing which can do minor damage to your vocal chords. She should drag them out on the big parts which she use to do in her older concerts esp in the 80's. Other than that, she's a good singer.

Agree on the age thing...Gladys Knight sang at the White House celebration's Fourth of July...she is almost 70 years old, and ROCKED the house...with the SAME voice.

@powerbar00 Gladys Knight has never had the type of voice of Whitney Houston. That's not saying that Gladys Knight isn't a legend. Gladys has a great voice but she just never had a Whitney voice. Whitney had one of the most beautiful voices in history. She has once in a lifetime voice. She's on par with Ella, Aretha, and Sarah.

this was mid to late 90's WH, shortly after I Will Always love you. That album will go down in history for sure. But this video already reveals a damaged voice, she has been fighting for her voice for almost 15 years. What I love is that she changed her phrasing to still give a better performance than most today even w/ the damaged vocals. But the phrasing is to mask the shortcoming

@ImsyVimsy Age has absolutely nothing to do with it. Most singers are just hitting their prime at her age now (2010). She was 10 yrs. younger in this video. Age is not a factor for a professional singer until at least mid-60's. Even then, the impact usually is minimal.

She didn't finish it here because it was part of a medley, but you can find an amazing live performance she did in the National Lottery and there she sings the final part in such a beautifull way, with amazing runs at the end!
