  • Prohibition did good job.Organized crime was a myth.

  • I love nutshell videos.

  • Can anyone help me out and tell me where to find the script of this video: I'm not English/American and I don'tn understand everyhting. This would be very helpful !

  • A great picture of how politics and the justice system can work together.

  • these people trying to tell everyone about their political opinions on a video about something that happened NINETY YEARS AGO are SO ANNOYING!!!

  • ......

  • i wish this video was canadian -_- i have to do an essay on canadian prohibition

  • If there were just as many pot heads as there were alcohlics, weed would be legal today.

  • WOMEN were at fault for this. Stupid bitches

  • PROHIBITION the dumbiest thing America has done since slavery

  • @fizzstyles Jesus would have been arrested for turning water into wine back in the 1920s. These Baptists and other Protestants are hypocrites.

  • @schroff1968 totally agree

  • very educational, thank you for posting.

  • hygygtgt

  • proof that the government wants complete control of your life.

  • War on drugs failed as of this. Because of the war on drugs we have now, crime rate went through the roof.

  • @SayerOfTheLaw21 You were saying comrade?

  • @SayerOfTheLaw21 C'mon Sayer, we all know you love smoking Fred Phelps' sausage.

  • Ahh the Prohibition, a shit stain on the U.S. Constitution.

  • @SayerOfTheLaw21 You're a Jewish tool, which is just as bad.

  • @SayerOfTheLaw21 I'm straight, you stupid commie.

  • @SayerOfTheLaw21 Jewish puppets.

  • @SayerOfTheLaw21 So you're naturally stupid then.

  • @SayerOfTheLaw21 Capone was a myth? Are you high?

  • @BlackMetalWhiteZombi Sayer's a crackhead.

  • @SayerOfTheLaw21 Human moronism? Like you?

  • @SayerOfTheLaw21 No mafia? Does Al Capone ring a bell? Speakeasys? The valentine's day massacre? Bootlegging?

  • @SayerOfTheLaw21 Can you elaborate

  • @SayerOfTheLaw21 So why was it repealed then?

  • With regulation the goverment can control who sell it, the quality and promote better public safety.

If alcohol prohibition still exist today the deaths by adulterated alcohol and gang war will be greater than today, because alcohol is more easy to fabricate than other drugs.

  • regulation works better than prohibition.

  • ...and then to imagine ca$h-money exchanging hands... or aka(other-wise-know-as) ...friendly-hand-shakes... were you fold a fifty-dollar-bill... or more... and shake you friends hand... and pass-him-the-money... hmmm... and kids can also practice at home... and you will just need to wash-your-hands-first... and with real-soap and not-imaginary-pretend-soap... hmmm... and you will need to fold a dollar bill and make it smaller... or have a bunch of cash(paper-money) ...and pass-the-cash... hehehe

  • we have two(2) detours and or diversions... and there is the Hollywood movie... the Outsiders... with a youth-gang called/named the Greasers... and then we have Mr. John Travolta dancing and prancing in every ones favorite movie by the name of "Grease"... and when I am using the word "grease" ...then I am NOT talking about hair-grease... NOPE... and no-fucken-way... and YOU will need to image simple grase for machines... to oil-up the parts that are touching together to prevent wear-and-tear...

  • ...and why do people call-it prohibition... when in reality..

...it was... "WAR on ALCOHOL" ...and the laws that were passed gave an excuse for Law Enforcement to go after anyone... and to then claim that they were bootleggers and a shyster and a fugitive from the Law... and when you don't "make-friends" with Law Enforcement... or if you "forget" ...or are even "late" on your contribution... or if you... forget-to-grease-the-squeaky-wheal... or maybe you ran-out of grea$e... then your CLOSED

  • ...hmmm... maybe this video will knock some Noggen in to YOU!!!

  • you'll never be able to stop drug use, everyone wants and uses drugs, may it be for illness treament in prescription or for recreational means in illegality.

  • @conman2317 People that use drugs haven't the ability to feel good on their own power. It's like hitting the easy button..Lazy MF's. It'd be like telling a fat ass NOT to eat those 3 Big Macs..the fat ass is gonna do it anyway, cause it make his fat ass feel good, even though it's destroying him. Humans are weak, and lazy, so they do these things. Could they just " relax" and enjoy life by being calm, taking it easy ? They "could", but they figure they "earned" and deserve the high... LOL

  • Had Prohibition succeeded, there wouldn't be all these problems. Liquor should no longer be for sale at stores. They should only be allowed at restaurants and bars, not to be served directly but mixed with fruit juices. There is technology to measure the alcohol level of each drink.

  • RON PAUL will end prohibition of all drugs ending the drug wars in your naibourhoods

  • I know he's in favor of that but do you think he could get through congress? The president isn't king.

  • @orjysean no he isnt were the ones who are in control and we are king, ron recognises indrvidual liberty.

i believe people power will do it hes just a catalist for this

  • Ron Paul will end prohibition of all drugs? Not wilth the help of Fox News who continues to ignore that he is still in the election. Plus his movement "the Tea Party" which originally was a libertarian movement in the GOP has now been overtaken by the Southern Baptists with Rick Perry as their current leader and Fox News is currently in love with this guy. Remember the Southern Baptists are against all drugs including alcohol. Ron Paul should leave the GOP and go back to the Libertarian Party.

  • @Micart33 did you REALLY just misspell neighborhood?

  • @Dragoj419 lol just testing

  • @Micart33 I don't know about all drugs. I think Marijuana is the main one that should be legal, but harmful drugs such as heroine and meth shouldn't be legal. The fact that 700,000/1,100,000 prisoners are in jail because of Marijuana, it costs a lot of money to keep 700,000 who are mostly users, not dealers.

  • Cumon! Cant you see that companies dupont lobbied for hemp prohibition stocked a whole heap of more dangerous solvents and chemicals upon our shelves.

They have made everything safe illegal and everything dangerous legal.

    Uranium enrichment.

    genetic engineering.

    Geoengineering]

    bio-engineering

    chemial engineering.

    Weapons engineering.

In that list are the most dangerous shit you ever seen and they arrest me for smoiking ganja..

  • "Drug addicts aren't evil people. They are sick people. Sick people don't get better in prison."

    - Bill Hicks, greatest comedian to walk this earth.

  • Marijuana is natural and should be legal. The government could grow it, sell it and tax it. Chemicals drugs should not be legal.

  • @decembergrlll why do you want to give more money to the government>? they already make plenty off weed, what do you think they do with all those drugs they sieze?? they sell it back to us at inflated prices, it being illegal and a risky venture makes it more profitable, if weed was legal, it wouldnt be worth shit.

  • @decembergrlll of course they could tax it. all the more reason for you pot heads to buy from an illegal dealer who supply it to you for cheaper, doing absolutely nothing to end marijuana's illegality

  • @decembergrlll pot head clearly...

  • so are you saying we should legalizes herion and cocaine

  • @LeighMet absolutely, people are gonna do it anyway

  • @mrsinister03 Would you feel the same way about murder

  • Respond to this video... or rape

  • @LeighMet i have no idea what you mean by that, im sure its hilarious

  • @mrsinister03 I am saying why would you stop at dealing cocaine or herion. Why not make Murder and Rape legal. If Murder and rape were made not everyone would do it. Just as not everyone would take cocaine and herione. Do you see my point now?

  • @LeighMet not really, but i think if people wanna kill themselves with drugs then let them, besides its more of a persomnal choice issue than it is a government matter, people should take care of themselves and protect themselves, if they fail too, then thats their problem, if they have a family memeber that is killing themselves with drugs, then its a family matter, NOT a government issue.

  • @LeighMet think of all the money all this ridiculous legislation costs, ties up the courts, extra police force, extra taxation to pay for recovery programs, like methodone clinics and rehabs..it becomes a burden on the taxpayer , its absolute nonsense to cmpare it to rape and murder because those are crimes commited against another person, if a person wants to inflict harm on themselves than, no i dont see why it has to become such a burden on the rest of us.

  • whats the song

  • Here's a fact for you all, boys n' girls.. Henry Ford helped push prohibition due to the creation of Diesel(alcohol-based). The beginnings of oil and corporate corruption.

  • What amuses me most about the Marijuana prohibition is that Illegal Marijuana is probably safer than modern legal tobacco. In general it seems illegal drugs are safer, less pushed, and more medicinal than legal drugs. Perhaps we are better off with weed being illegal.

  • @LimiconCardiod "Illegal Marijuana is probably safer than modern legal tobacco" => it's not probably, it's proven scientifically. There's no doubt about it. But if it was up to me, I would ban tobacco as well. The only reason why smoking isn't banned is because it's generating huge money for government. But at least many countries are now starting to ban smoking in public places and public parks, so that's good.

  • Marijuana prohibition is different because there is such a thing as second-hand effect from Marijuana usage, compared to alcohol.

  • There are other ways to consume Marijuana besides smoke.

  • @Casshyr There is also such a thing as cigarette second-hand smoke. I am sure you have heard about it and the laws regarding public smoking. Also, you would need to hotbox the room to get others a cannabis buzz.

  • Prohibition for Nazis

  • Imagine what it would be if prohibition had succeeded.

  • Yes, the USA would be more bigoted than it is now. There was a big anti-immigration sentiment towards the Germans and Irish Catholics in the mid 19th century and the temperance movement was successful in using this to their advantage into getting Prohibition to become law in many states before it became a federal law. In 1851 Maine became the first state to have Prohibition. To the anti-immigation movement this was a step in their thinking to control immigration.

  • How was Prohibition sucessful in getting German, Irish and Catholic immigrants away from America?? Did no alcohol cause those immigrants to not want to come to America?

  • No, but many of the anti-immigrant Protestant Anglo-Saxons of the UK believed that having Prohibition could possibly slow the German immigration down as it did in the state of Maine which is only one of two states that the Germans aren't even in the top five among the immigrants of that state. The breweries were very dominantly owned and run by Germans and with prohibition in that state at a time when Germans were coming in large numbers was a turnoff for Germans to the state of Maine.

  • With states like Pennsylvania the Germans already had a large population so the Know Nothings couldn't get their way plus many of their own Anglo-Saxon Protestant people of the UK ancestry thought prohibition was shit and they also had distain for these Anglo-Saxon Know Nothings. Plus they can get the Germans and especially the Irish Catholics that came from the famine to work for cheap labor in the coal mines and factories. See the PBS documentary on "The Irish: Two Nations; One Heart"

  • The word Bigotry is balognie.

  • Marijuana prohibition is exactly the same as alcohol prohibition. Look at this documentary and look at a drug war documentary. You will see that it is the same thing.

  • ORGANIZED LARGELY BY WOMEN.....FIGURES

  • there must've been a lot of drunk rats in those sewers (happy hour!)

  • Yeah.....but what a country do when theres a legalized drugged work place??

  • @ziggycat999 Well than you just have people at work on drugs that are legal. Won't change a thing other than the status of it's lawfulness. But what if the world couldn't be nirvana like you say. People don't change for the law friend. Did you just miss the entire point of the video ?

  • Yeah, the muslim countries do the same thing.

  • Comment removed

  • Reminds me of the Gun ban and the Prostitution Ban .

  • Women did it

  • Duimpje omhoog als je Michael Brooymans een stommerik vindt!

  • Reinstate 18th Amendment!

  • @RobotShoppingCenter HOORAY!! but only if it outlaws republicans too :-P

  • Yes,less Americans were drunk during The Prohibition and crime was down.

  • @RobotShoppingCenter LOL - blessed be the ignorant for they know not what they speak. crime was down . . . .hmmmmm . . . . and i suppose al capone was just an errant choir boy! get your facts right or move on buttercup

  • @RobotShoppingCenter Yeah, just like crime is down during the prohibition of controlled substances. There are no mexican drug cartels active now killing and raping. If It was repealed, they would be powerless, but you want the raping and crime, since you are a christian. So you would keep prohibition, as you make money on it. You are a dirty drug dealer.

  • Marijuana wont become legal because theres not enough pot smokers. Back then almost everyone drank alcohol.

  • @terrorkorp

you couldn't be more wrong. california passed prop 215 back in 1996! i got pulled over for smoking weed while walking down the street, the cop looked at it said "smells good" then gave it back and let me be on my way.

  • More people died due to alcohol poisoning because the government started to poison industrial alcohol. The government decided it was better to kill and blind people rather than let them drink. Do you see any comparisons to this and the current drug wars? It seems the government is unable to.

  • I enjoy the alcoholic beverage!

  • The reason I'm posting is that he told a story that I never knew about Alcohol Prohibition.

Ford originally made his cars to run on ethanol, so farmers could create their own fuel. He saw farmers really as his customers originally, since nearly all of us were farmers.

Here comes Rockefeller and big oil lobby. He provides money to the anti-alcohol movement in order to make Prohibition a reality, and stop the ethanol fuel industry and promote the use of fossil fuels.

  • Prohibition is Bull Shieeettt !!!

  • ENGELS SUCKS

  • ROY IS ROOD :D

  • @bertlab

    STFU bert xD

  • Vote Yes on California's Proposition 13, and end Cannabis prohibition.

  • california yes on prop 19

  • laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame.

  • Prohibitions do not work. Prohibitions have never worked. Prohibitions will NEVER work.

I don't care if you are talking about Booze, Guns, Pot, Whores or Porn. You cannot legislate morality and instill piety through governmental decree. It's against human nature.

Yet we Americans keep this insanity going year ater year with the "War On Drugs". Why? Why do we keep repeating the mistakes of history?

  • @archer1949

It doesn't work because if you take something of everyday life and make it illegal, people are still going to do it. If something such as marijuana becomes legal, it would be impossible to again make it illegal if something happens. The best way is to not make something legal in the first place. If alcohol was never legal, we would have never had a problem with it. People are afraid of change.

  • @ToArmsForDixie Your wrong cannabis prohibition will never work and we will still spend billions of dollars we do not have fighting it. It will increase the use of younger people becuase drug dealers dont ask for ID's.

  • Drinking alcohol is fake. Trust me, we don't like to drink alcohol.

  • Comment removed

  • We can do it again. Yes We Can! And bring Islam to the United States of America at the same time, alhamdulillah.

    Dream-Believe-Achieve.

  • maybe in the year 3000 the marijuana gets legal

  • This is how stupid it will look to people when Marijuana is legalized.

  • you wanna know what they should've learned from prohibition. that you cant outlaw something cause people are gonna do it anyway, back then it may have been underground bars but today they have underground crack houses and many more. the lesson don't outlaw something just cause 1 out of 100 people don't like it.

  • women were the cause of this bullshit

  • @capnhands Oh hell no.

  • Elliot Ness liked the drink.

  • "got around" the constitution. these are the people who get this country into messes.

  • those poor, poor, delicious bottles of booze

    it breaks my heart

  • @Cheshirecat55 lolz

  • How many dangerous criminals were selling booze during prohibition? How many drug dealers on the streets today do you see selling 6 packs of beer?

  • Prohibition = Utter Failure.

Now... I'm off to buy a gram of Cocaine.

  • 1:48 I laugh uproariously at the dance of the 20s

    maybe shes drinking bad hooch

  • yes exactly ban it? not working. doing the same as this

  • Back in the old west cowboys sat around the fire at night they'd be pretty sore from being in the saddle all day herding cattle. Weed grew wild and all the locals (native Americans AND Mexicans) had been using marijuana for centuries. Honestly, don't you think the real cowboys used to smoke weed just to take the aches and pains out of their bones? Most traveling medicine wagons sold tonics high in opiate content. Tonics were used for most everything. Why NOW do we have a "war on drugs"??

  • cont- An example- 3 guys get off work and they each want to relax for the evening. Each has $8 to spare. 1 buys a fat little green bud, 1 buys a 20mg Oxycontin and the 3rd buys a fifth of Vodka. Each goes home and consumes their "goodies". Guy #1 gets high and laughs at an old movie. Guy #2 gets a "warm buzz" for a few hours and relaxes in his favorite chair with a good book. Guy #3 drinks a fifth of Vodka...

Which guy damages his body, health, marriage and general well being the most???

  • cont2- The so called "War on Drugs" is not about the drugs, nor is it about the Gov't caring about your health. It's about the MONEY! DEA, Prison Guard Unions, Big City Police budgets, and so on and so on...

  • Drugs aren't good for you.

  • Marijuana can help with ADHD.

  • @GhostSonic

Yes well, so can being blind.

  • @GhostSonic What the hell are you talking about? There are plenty of valid medical uses for marijuana, you don't need to make some up. Come on now dude.

  • @GhostSonic

Well theres one thing about that, ADHD doesn't exist, its a scientific term for someone who doesnt give a shit about what other people have to say.

ADD exists because if you give them amp they'll calm down, which is truly amazing.

  • @pwnwner

Haha, ever heard of penicillin? Or acetaminophen? Heck, maybe NyQuil? Those are all drugs that ARE good for you. The word drugs in general means anything that alters your complete sober body and mind. Some may be bad, and some are good.

  • @iheartdeathcore7 Acetaminophen is definitely bad for you though.

  • @iheartdeathcore7 Nyquil is not that good for you at all

  • @iheartdeathcore7

    And you are the worst.

Everyday acetaminophen will turn your liver yellow.

And Nyquil contains DXM, a antihistamine and Tylenol.

DXM feels just as good as MDMA, and it fucks your brain up more then any illicit drug.

  • Actually, it was the very male led Anti-Saloon League which was responsible for Prohibition. Don't always believe everything you read in history textbooks.

  • Damn religious mother hens always ruining our fun.

  • Them diirtyyy sluts!!!!

  • I just think nothing with politics should be interfered with religion because then we get fucked up times like prohibition.. and the war on drugs..

I say, we legalize marijuana and decriminilize the rest of drugs and set up free voluntary rehab centers just like the dutch.. i think..

all im saying is that there should be only logic to politics...

lol @ the person that said less abortions w/out drugs or alcohol...

  • Let's not forget that a lot of these women responsible for getting the whole thing going in the first place were also religeous.

Thanks religeon! Yet another casualty related attempt to shape the world around you the way you see fit.

  • The fish must have gotten hammered

  • There were literally rivers of wine and booze running through the streets. How nice. lol

  • this just goes to show that when religion, and it was religion that started prohibition decides they know best and forces others to follow their archaic, outdated ways,it can only end in disaster.

  • *sigh*

  • "Prohibition...goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded."

    --Lincoln

  • @nate4305 ...i blame bush....

  • We need a new Prohibition

  • yeah, we got one: marijuana

  • @zoeman1980 More than that, Coke, X, even Meth shouldn't be illegal. I don't support the use of these substances but you should have the choice so long as you do not infringe on the rights of others through your use.

  • @zoeman1980 Why stop at weed? Why not cocaine? Why not Heroine?

  • @grobo11 because cocaine and heroin are extremely addictive and they are easy to overdose on. Weed is not addictive and has had 0 recorded deaths in medical history. We should legalize weed and weed ONLY.

  • @elementsk8punk Alcohol causes vomit, poisoning, memory loss and is a highly addictive substance. It is no different to cocaine or heroine. Also, it doesn't matter what it does to you, that's not the point, the point is you cannot put a prohabition on the appetite of man. If people want to sniff coke, then let them, what's it to you? It doesn't matter if weed causes no deaths, and weed can help cancer patients etc. I'd still wan't it leagal even if it didn't do these things.

  • @elementsk8punk Also, what about the drug barons that practicaly rule the world? By legalizing weed you're legalizing a small proportion of their products. They'd still have heroince etc. to sell. Legalize the whole lot, and they suddenly lose their market, lose their money, and lose their power. It's just like the prohabition in the 20's. Also, it could help us in Afghanistan, instead of burning the opium (the Afghans livelyhood and main export) we could help them farm it (continued).

  • @elementsk8punk And help them into the world market, they have the largest opium fields and could make money for their war torn country in no time, it would loosen the Taliban strangle hold and the country would be closer to peace and to economic prosperity, why deny them that? There have been too many victims in this war against drugs. Imagine the prison space we'd have for people who took drugs, and we set them all free, it would save us tax payers millions.

  • @grobo11 because weed is not a highly addictive and dangerous drug. nobody gets hopped up on weed and kills people for their addiction become prostitutes to feed it then bringing in another human into the world of shit they have caused for themselves heroine is terrible for everyone the user the family the murdered man that was in the wrong place at the wrong time killed by the cartel or the convenience store clerk that was killed by a guy hopped up everyone that is why.

    now if you

  • @lamonde515 That happens anyway with alcohol doesn't it? Just replace the world 'weed' or 'heroine' with the legalized substance 'alcohol' and suddenly the domino affect hasn't changed, the results are the same. The reason why these drugs are addictive is because the drug dealers add addictives in so that the person will come back for more, again I say; legalize it, get rid of the drug dealer and in turn getting rid of addictives and the situation will be better.

  • @grobo11 were making a statement about the domino effect of legalizing pot my whole comment is invalid

  • Ok, u got ppl on here with their own agendas in mind cause obviously, they're delusional! ThGhFan says NO ONE has been benefited financially from this war! Is this guy crazy or what! Um the countless phaurmecetical companies, and Tobacco & alcohol industries reap the benefits of not having to compete with the "illicit" stuff. I never said anything about the government profiting from anything. But, rather take the time and READ what I said he attacks me talking about it ISN'T about race, bullshit

  • If this video is all lies then why was prohibition repealed?

  • Mostly because President Franklin D. Roosevelt realized that if prohibition was repealed, farmers could sell more grain; carpenters could build more kegs; breweries, distilleries and bars would re-open and employ more people; and the US Gov't could tax the liquors being produced and consumed (The USA was in a Depression then). FDR's first words after signing the 21st Amendment to the Constitution repealing prohibition were, "Gentlemen, I believe this calls for a drink!"

  • See, none of u all want 2 admit the REAL truth.....that this is a war on black&brown ppl. Prohibition as tragic as that "short" frame was, resulted in white casulatuies therefore a swift resolution (compared 2 this "war") was intact. Now with this war, the high volume of incarceration, casualties of unfair judicial practices, deaths from the inner cities 2 the ruined villages of columbia/mexico nothing but sheer capitol gain has been accumulated by the powers that be!

  • capital gain? no my friend, far from it. The government waste billions of dollars each year to keep these drugs out of the country, and look at what a great job they do! There are hundreds if not thousands of deaths each year smuggling weed, cocaine, heroine, and other such drugs into the country. Sure, there may be some people who think this is a race war, but i want to see this war end to save lives and promote freedom.

  • ok dude, you're NOT gonna see my point of view so dont interupt my day sending me your bullshit opinion with NO FACTS. U just wanna '"sound" like you're right! I am not about 2 try 2 convince u otherwise.
