hey up dude,,,nice vid,,,,got mine set up to vdj but wen i record it only seems to recognise one cdj,,,like for instance if i do a chop in the mix the chop isnt ther it all plays threw,,,,,can u help bro im sure its a simple solve,,,,p.s i hav another program i can record with but need a usb splitter is this the best option,,,,thx for now,,,,

Great video got everything to work thnx to you. But there is one problem. I have keylock on in VDJ and on CDJ-s, but when ever I touch the side of the jog wheel the keylock does not work. Is there any way to fix this?

is there any extra wires needed to connect the mixer to the laptop? or will the knobs on the mixer control them onscreen the way it is with just the two usb cables going from cdj to laptop, thanks!

@that69boi theres a few other types of cd decks that have an HID mode, but the setup will be slightly different. It's also not all pioneer CDJ's, just the 400s, 850s, 900s and 2000s

by that i assume you have a DDM4000.......no you wont, just set up the decks with the mixer as you normally would, the only thing that should be different is usb cables from the cdj to the laptop.

Hey mate great vids ... not sure if you have any idea about this BUT ... when i plug in the mixer to my laptop (via a RCA to 3mm cord) the sound that comes out of my laptop is delayed. I just bought my laptop and I am running windows 7

i got a question, my cdjs are already updated to the 1.30 and one of them is actually a 1.33 version. now do i still need the asiodrivers for it to work perfect? on the website of the drivers it says that i dont need the update. i just downloaded vdj6 trial and my cdjs still dont work right, only my left deck controls eveything how do i fix everything and get the sound coming out of my external speakers rather than my computer's internal speakers?.....by the way im running Mac. Thank you=)

@shattervideo open vdj, go to config then the sound setup tap, set input to none, set out put to externasl mixer and set sound driver to asio. make sure u plug in ur cdj's b4 u even opn vdj and on ur cdj's u need to select the channels so u get them controling ur vdj. and u have to always have them set to the same usb once this is done cous it rembers what the channels on vdj.

@Budituvo im pretty sure u cant do it, i played around with it and im thinking that the cdj 400's are midi controlers and the mixer isnt so it cant control it in vdj which really sucks.

As soon as i plug the usb cords from my cdjs into my laptop i get a humming noise?

@SICKNICK4 Thats known as "Ground Loop Humm" from your laptops power supply. If you unplug the power cable from the laptop it will go away. You need to plug the laptop power cable into a different socket to the rest of your audio gear to get rid of the problem :)

i was wondering how do you hook them up to vdj while still being able to use roll, jet wah etc (the cdj effects) ive tried it with version 5.2 and 6 but both don't let me use it........they just turn into hot cues any help would be appreciated, thanks

everything works except i cant cue on my actual cdj 400's why is that? i can scratch and scroll my music with the cdj's but i cant use my cue the way used to before i used virtual dj because before i used virtual dj i cued by ear and when i pressed pause the music would pause but like repeat the beat or where ever i pause and thats how i find were i wana cue, now when i press pause it doesnt do that, do u get what im saying lol it sounds complicated

the sound on your laptop wont work whist the cdj 400s are plugged in , because the cdj's have there own built in souncards and the laptop is trying to use them to output sound, but sound can only be output in vdj , not in any other circumstance, ie watching a video.

when u r not using vdj unplug the cdjs and ensure youre default soundcard is set to your laptops soundcard in windows :) hope that helps :)

nope, you can only use the cdj built in effects when playing a cd , when in pc mode they trigger vdj's effects in the software

hey bud great tutorial thinking of upgrading to these rightnow, been using hercules rmx but thinking of going lil more advanced. want to use this system in pc mode what all do you lose on the cdj when on pc mode? nudge, scratch, loop, effect and so on!!!

just the onboard effects really the other functions work the same including switching between vinyl and cd mode ,cue, loop, master tempo, pitch slider, etc. I will be uploading a video shortly demonstrating this :)

Matt...I have a question? I want to record..using VDJ i did what you recommended and its working great but..My fader is un-responsive? when i record the tracks are ontop of each other but i can;t fade them into one or the other using a DJM 400? any tips or advice?

if u r using a djm 400 i believe you can use it as a midi controller to conrol the internal mixer interface of vdj , therefore moving the xfade in vdj. the reason its picking up both channels while recording is cos the way i set it up the vdj xfader remains in the centre so it is picking up sound from both decks. ummmmmmmmmm im gonna have to check the vdj forums on this one...............i suggest u do too :) , There will be a solution but it may be complex :)

The Latency setting can be any figure to "Control" the software, but for proper mixing, you'd want to set it to minumum latency to ensure it offers optimum results.

matt im running 5.0.7 and I dont have an icon for the CDJ400 in virtual DJ. What version are you running and do you know if there is a way to get this working in older versions of Virtual DJ without having to upgrade? thanks

mike im running 5.21, they introduced the cdj400 compatability at vers 5.1. you could try using the general midi mapper in 5.07 to config them but it would be a very long task to do so. 5.21 for me has been very stable with no issues to date ......easier to just upgrade dude :)

nice vid. very useful. I clicked HD and the quality is in another world. Watch in "high quality" was a massive improvement but HD is awesome, I found it streamed fine if not better than the standard vid.
