Got this a couple days ago and am satisfied thus far. It's a budget laptop for sure. The screen will be difficult to see in direct sunlight as it reflects a lot. You can make it a decent cheap machine though by adding in some extra ram and maybe even putting a ssd sata 3 in it. For less than

thats my old laptop! It died after three years, two months after the warranty expired :/ The motherboard went on it. Called HP and they said they dont make that motherboard anymore because that laptop is "too old". Thx, HP.

the hp comps are good but i have been very unlucky with them. for instance i bought a new pavilion dv9000 series 2yrs ago and it broke. i was lucky since it was within the 1yr guarante. so then it was irreperable and they gave me a new one! another pavilion dv 9000series just that its newer. this one also has its share of problems. loads of heating problems. and i just got it back from hp since they had to change the motherboard and the BIOS.

I'm aware of it, buy I'd rather go for it's bigger brother, the dv5t series as they have the Nvidia 9600M GT graphics card, which kicks ass any chipset Intel has to offer

the d600 is known for a lot of problems, I've recently had to sent my d600 back to HP since there was a major problem with it and it wouldnt turn on at all. They offered to repair it for free so thats a plus

battery life if u have a 6 cell is average about 2.5 -3 hrs the 4500 is better then the x3100 however its nothing compared to if u have a discrete graphics card but yes performance wise it is better then the x3100

Make sure you do not leave your laptop on "High-Performance" because your battery will burn out within 1 year.

There is a Technical issue right now with Dv6000 series. The battery seems to be flawed. Many complaints regarding the Adapter and the motherboard burning out.

I am thinking of buying this laptop so ive got a few questions!

a) I saw that the screen shines a lot.. Does it make it hard to watch movies play games or work on the pc?

b) What discs did the whole package have?

c) If you format the laptop (install windows again) will everything be working properly? Or you will have to install drivers?

►A) yes the screen does have a glare, so its not good to use outside, but 72% of laptops now have a shiny screen like that, you can just turn up the brightness in the settings, but it does still have a glare. ►B)what do you mean discs? like in the box, well i just checked my box, & there wasnt any discs, just bunch of booklets, pamplets, & a cool hp notepad. ►C)-**see my PM Message.**

I also checked the HP official site for help, as i see all HP computers have a partition on the hard drive so that you can recover the PC or Laptop to its factory settings! Convinient! Also you can create your own recovery discs using the HP recovery program.. Now i want that laptop more!! :|

Okay well, I said its not good to use outside becuase the sun will create a horrible glare. But yes, it does also have a glare inside ur house if your like under a lamp or something, but you can still see the screen. But it can get anoying, but I dont have much problems with it, except I do have to close my window blind a tad bit because of the glare. But also you can just bend the screen more downward to get rid of the glare to.
