here's a tip: if this happens again, here's what you do. don't put hardly any pressure on the fish. the way muskie eat bigger fish like that bass is they'll grab it and kill it. during that time it'll be sideways in their mouth. then, they'll turn it and take it down head first. keep just enough pressure on the fish to feel what's going on. for a minute or so you won't feel much. when you feel them turn it, give em ~30seconds. caught a 52"er like that this yr!

you gotta let the fish swallow the bass before you reeled it in, I have had this happen to me with northern pike before a number of times, If it does happen let all your line out and wait a couple minutes, the fish should be digested and reel in your monster fish :)
