Rusty Allen taught me that line(outer) in 1 of my first races. Yes the transition from the banking to the infield is violent and requires standing up as you hit it due to compression. I do agree it is more dangerous and leaves no options if something goes wrong. In a racing situation you have to use it all. If you have any reservations during racing, 5 people will pass you on the INSIDE while you were dragging your knee on the curbing. I beat Ben Spies there! (He was 14 on a 125 LOL)
Having raced this track for a few years, the outside line entry into turn 1 is the LINE. Running that outer line allows the longest straight between turns 1 & 2. The people who take the inner line you recommend spend much more time leaned over and therefore not driving hard out of the corner. In fact the speed gained from just that 1 turn in point will allow you to run away from anyone not using it. The drive it will allow you to have coming off of 2 (left hander) is so much faster.
