Honestly, I would be sad if a friend I was close with approached me and told me that htey were an atheists. Yes, I know I'm not supposed to feel that way and it's judgemental of me and whatnot. But I wouldn't stop being friends with them or think of them any less, it's just sad for me to hear that someone is not willing to accept God as part of their life. He has done so much for me and I want everyone to experience that.

I have absolutely no problems with atheists going to church, or confession, or celebrate christmas with Jesus decorations all over, or getting married into a chapel, participating in church blood drives, or going to bible study. I actually give props to atheists who do that. The fact is... atheism just means "no belief in God". You can do all these things and still in your mind "not believe in God"... Whenever I get the "which church do you go to?" question, for some reason I think of Glenda the good witch from Wizard of Oz asking "are you a good witch or a bad witch?" once when someone asked me I responded with "why I'm not a witch at all". They thought I was crazy and even after I explained it I don't think it helped my case.

i actually went to a very conservative Baptist church yesterday, invited by my one of my friends. I didnt have the cojones to tell anyone im atheist, (even that friend doesnt completely understand that I am) simply cause I was afraid to be thought as a devil worshiper. heathen, etc.
so, I REALLY respect what youre doing. Very inspiring. When more people understand what each others beliefs are, the world will be much better.
I used to be a school teacher in Liverpool. Being from Manchester, inevitably the kids would always ask which football team I supported, assuming it would be Manchester United. When I would tell them that I didn't even like football, they would usually look confused and then say "yeah, but which team do you support?". Apparantly even if I hate the game, it is unacceptable not to pick a team.

I moved from Florida to Milan, Italy. I've been inside the Duomo and several smaller churches as well as the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. They are all kind of spooky inside. At least I didn't burst into flames. :)

It never fails to baffle me when Christians say an atheist must worship the Devil.The devil is an invention of theirs in the first place and atheists don't 'worship' anything or anyone!

After decades I'm still a closet atheist.
Even my own family still does not get it.
I'm not a "rebel" or "lashing out" I'm not a teenager and haven't been one for a very long time.
My familys church would never have an atheist come in and speak on what atheisam is about.
It would help them to learn what its about and maybe be less afraid of it and a little more understanding.
But sadly, learning and understanding is not what their interested in.
Comdenantion and accusations sure are.

@healthyaddict Aside from being incredibly hot, I was trying to figure out who it was that your face was so familiar to. By the end of the video I finally figured it out though, lol. At first I thought it was someone famous, but I realized it wasn't. (turns out it was the wife of one of my cousins)

I have absolutely no problems with atheists going to church, or confession, or celebrate christmas with Jesus decorations all over, or getting married into a chapel, participating in church blood drives, or going to bible study. I actually give props to atheists who do that. The fact is... atheism just means "no belief in God". You can do all these things and still in your mind "not believe in God"... I think it was great what you did, we need to stop the bleeding between both sides IMO...

i get near the same reaction when i tell people that im atheist. im sure that those who have never met an atheist actually have, but most people dont want to rock the boat or are too afraid to come out of the atheist closet to someone they care about.
i still havnt comeout atheist to some family, mostly cause they wouldnt understand and it would greatly hurt our relationship.

@Desertphile That's meant to be a secret until the revelation's over. We're supposed to pretend that Jesus actually exists, and that he has some sort of protective power over humans for now. Then after the rapture, the demon playing Jesus will drop the disguise and tada, billions of defenseless souls right where we want them!

Thank you for your outreach efforts! Perhaps if more people knew atheists that were genuinely good people then atheists in general would be treated better. So many people seem to think of atheists as something other than human beings because they don't know any (or don't know they know any).

Whenever I get the "which church do you go to?" question, for some reason I think of Glenda the good witch from Wizard of Oz asking "are you a good witch or a bad witch?" once when someone asked me I responded with "why I'm not a witch at all". They thought I was crazy and even after I explained it I don't think it helped my case.

i respect your style of 'debate' H.A. but wouldn't some people in your audiences be thinking to themselves, "If she can't convince Jon, her arguments must not be very convincing." It would seem to be that these kinds of talks don't really do anything other than show that atheists are not something to be feared or hated. But it doesn't seem to really do anything for getting Christians to actually think about their position.

It's kinda funny how some people think that you have to believe in something. I try to explain that I don't believe in anything supernatural. That would include any and all gods or the evil versions of gods such as Satan. This also includes ghosts, spirits, etc.
After explaining this I'm normally met with: so you don't believe in anything? Which I reply: I don't believe in things that don't exist...

I've had somebody ask me if I worship the devil. It honestly made me laugh at the time, but thinking about it again, it's really sobering that there are people who are so swept up in the necessity to believe in something.

i actually went to a very conservative Baptist church yesterday, invited by my one of my friends. I didnt have the cojones to tell anyone im atheist, (even that friend doesnt completely understand that I am) simply cause I was afraid to be thought as a devil worshiper. heathen, etc.
so, I REALLY respect what youre doing. Very inspiring. When more people understand what each others beliefs are, the world will be much better.

I used to be a school teacher in Liverpool. Being from Manchester, inevitably the kids would always ask which football team I supported, assuming it would be Manchester United. When I would tell them that I didn't even like football, they would usually look confused and then say "yeah, but which team do you support?". Apparantly even if I hate the game, it is unacceptable not to pick a team.

i get the whole "what church do you go to?" thing here in va when i meet someone new. they pause for a second when i say i don't go, but they don't ask any further, luckily. they really don't quit here trying to shove religion it down your throat once they start.

Great video, and I agree. I tend to go out of my way to talk with Christians, and find myself making the effort to agree to disagree, and still show respectfuly.
It is not always easy, but then again, nothing worth while is.
Glad to have found your channel.

My only concern is that the lovely young lady may be over doing things a little. Burning the candle at both ends may work short term but it takes it’s toll. Life is a marathon and requires pacing.

I moved from Florida to Milan, Italy. I've been inside the Duomo and several smaller churches as well as the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. They are all kind of spooky inside. At least I didn't burst into flames. :)

I did try to watch it - but it seems to bomb-out (freezing my browser) when it gets to a certain point :-(
It's possibly due to the fact it's a little over 2 hours long - which doesn't cause me problems elsewhere, but it does seem inordinately long for a YT vid.
Any change you could chop it up into sections?
The reason people get un-nerved by the presence of a "real" anything, is because of the demonisation found in most dogmas.
It's the 1st 'rule' of warfare - Demonise the enemy!

Ironically, a loving non-religious home is what a lot of children need right now.
We need to grab as many Christian children as possible - and introduce them to the joys of rational middle-class homes.
Instead of "believe what I say or you will burn forever"
they will be exposed to "believe what I say, or you will be sent back to your Christian parents"

I watched to discussion you had at the church, it seems that the guy John had to rescue you from a couple of aggressive morons, by keeping them in 'Christan moral check'. While I didn't agree with his views, I could see that he is a good person.

Atheist: Do you believe in Harry Potter?
Christian: No!
Atheist: Then you worship Lord Voldemort?
Christian: You are stupid!
