If I may add, as a wanna-be novelist, I bought a Workshop book on Creative Writing when I hit Writer's block. Inside it, the book explains ways to get over them and one way is to take something from your material and change it in ways that won't be added.
For example: for a book I hope to write next it is about a love/war fantasy tale, so I wrote two letters one from the main character the other from the love interest. I found out so much about the characters!
I am writing a script for a machinima. I have an idea of what i want to do but not sure if the other people working on the machinima will like it. Should i just write it anyway and see what they think?
Definitely! If you are passionate about an idea - write it! And write it for yourself first - if other people like it too, that's the cherry on top. :)
Tyron, 2 comments: Firstly you should be working on being in front of the cameras instead of behind them as you are trying to do through screenwriting and secondly, this stuff (meaning your 'lessons') could actually be earning you money! You are good, boy! Very good!
Thank you for this advice.
I'm gonna go walk my dogs now.
