I don't remember where but, I read an astrologers opinion on this and by mathmatics and astrology along with time lines of masive floods and what you would call gravitational effects from a large planet (nibiru) coming through, they estimated its not due for another 600 years or so. even if that is wrong, 2012 is the start of a new galactic year. We have made one revolution around our galaxy. Thats what 2012 is. Has nothing to do with nibiru.

will not the planet Nibiru appear in our skies next year lending proof of it's existence? Is it true that by it's shear size it will have to be visible to the naked eye long before it arrives? Nibiru is a Dwarf Star (pretty hot). If it came through the Kuiper belt, it would draw in objects and they would probably just collide into the planet (gas giant if its a dwarf star) A solid planet like earth can not be as big as Jupiter, just not possible. Anyways, the planet comes in at a 33 degree angle to our solar plane, which means it comes from under the planets and leaves over it after crossing between Saturn and Jupiter, not mars and earth. Therefore not affecting asteroid belt.

The nibiru system doesn't even come near the asteroid belt to answer your question. It passes between Neptune and Uranus (supposedly) The kuiper belt is not really a "belt" It is more like a sphere that surrounds the solar system. Imagine a cell. It has a cell wall surrounding organelles and the nucleus. The kuiper belt is a bunch or debris on the outer reaches of the solar system (small planets and asteroids.) The Nibiru system will probably just plow in and out of the kuiper belt.
