My family has three connections to the Shoah, in Poland, in Hungary and in Russia. I honor the memory of those who came before me - and those who did not survive - by using a Yom HaShoah Yellow Candle. I do this for a great aunt, for untold #s of cousins lost and for my wife's family, most of whom managed to survive b'Yad Vashem. Yellow Candles were developed especially for Shoah remembrance and belong in every home on Yom Hashoah. ZACHOR!
Yes we are the second generation after Holocaust and like you I went to Poland to find about my grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins that didn't survive, and you right, we had family and now they are in our memory. My Hashem bless you and yours father.
My grandfather, Charles Chanover was in the American army and was one of the soldiers present at the liberation of Mauthausen. I'm glad I came across this clip.
