pulliny wires, used by your shoulders, it allows for complete controle over the tail movement, unlike the motered versions which only have one streangth off and on.
If you don't plan to sell these, could you post a basic pattern? I'm interested in making mechanicle appendages such as these for a satyr costume I'm working on. Oh, and have you ever tried making mechanical moving ears?
(BTW, Is that someone playing SSB in the background? SSB FTW!)
Sweet! Good work, man! I'd love to try something like this for my dragon-tails. I'd be tempted to make the rig attach at the elbows under the sleeves of your costume, carried over the shoulders and down your back to the tail (or attach at the knees, guided up to the tail-base), so that when you walk, the natural movement of your arms (or legs) make the tail swing, too. You'd have to make wire-guides, though- that might help with the twisting issue.
@mustbe18 that is amazing. I was thinking of just using a snake-toy type design, but this is Brilliant!. I'm hoping to make maybe a thicker, flatter one for a Crocodile Scavenger for Nero, how would you go about changing the design?
@Sphinxfalcon i'd prolly make the wodden bones out of more rectangular wooden dowels, and changing the placment of the anamatronic wireds as well, maybe change the center cable, but not sure.
the next version i make, the one i will sell will be done better actually since there are still some bugs in this design. but i comented on the FA page for this how much i think it might go for.
its a really good design if i do say so myslef : P
only problem is since wire doesnt stay perfcectly straight it rotats a bunch and can cause the tail to bend in ways i dont want it to, its not that bad but kinda annoying since i want perfexction.
Amazing Ingenuity! I love the design! Got any plans on releasing how its made?

wow that's pretty amazing! would work with most species huh? looks like its for cats but obviously it could work for dogs, whatever it gets put in.
Although what about animals that have slightly different tails like huskies or shibas? Will users have a way of adjusting to reach these characters?
DantendoDS 2 years ago
well, a cats tail would be a ton easier, but i plan for a fox tail, as well as other animal tails ^^
