'Saving the world' and 'changing yourself' are 2 different things. 1 doesn't follow on from the other. The world doesn't need to be 'saved'. Starbucks is a no-go area to reasonable persons. 'Ultimate truth' isn't found in Starbucks or anywhere.

People have been kind to strangers since time began.

A lighter life is not required, unless you want some beige-colored, bland existence. A dark, violent, intense life is far more desirable, without being a savior or joy-ridden clown.
