WoW! Hell Yeah! Love The Go-Go's... listening to a lot of The Go-Go's, Hey You!, Blondie, Joan Jett, The B-52's, Avril, and No Doubt. really like girl singers :-)
Hey You! is still pretty new, but they're waaaay dope. Rock/Pop/Punk with a real cool edge. Plus they've got a cute girl singer ;-) ....you should check 'em out...
I remember in the mid 80'2 there was a syndicated show on the Christian channels aimed at teen agers called The Eagle's Nest with pastor Gary. He was down on everything kids at that time liked, video games, Dungeons and Dragons, and especially Rock and Roll. He claimed that if promoted the homosexual lifestyle, because if you made a mistake and played the single at 33 1/3 rpm, as "that is the speed that most records are played" it "sounds as though an effeminate male homosexual is singing it".
Damn--this is the first I heard the GoGos sound punk---I was looking for the Screeching Weasel cover---and why does anything gay have to go along with some a-hole preaching the Bible---get over it already geezus
@dkshotwell I call upon Christ to forgive my homosexual sins. Oh shit... he must be real busy talking on the other line, it's gone straight to voicemail.
This is such a perfect song for them. A studio version would've been awesome for Beauty and the Beat. It would've sat nicely after Skidmarks On My Heart or Lust to Love. x
@Steve197201 Belinda, Jane (Drano) Wiedlin and Charlotte Caffey were going to LA Punk Rock shows in"77.Charlotte was playing in a band before the Go-Go's,the Eye's. One of LA 's first generation punk bands in 77. The original Go-Go's were all hanging out back then. Charlotte joined in 78 and Gina joined in 80. I don't what happened to the other 2 original girls.
This is the polyester version of "johnny" & Josie did the cotton version. lol . The Paine brothers discovered & groomed the Go's Go's and they fired them as soon as they got signed to a major label. The Paine Bros found there "new" voice for Johnny Are You Queer in Josie Cotton. but she was dropped from Electra after her second album due to lackluster sales but the Go's Go's cashed in B$G T$ME!!!
@MrChiliWillie Josie Cotton recently re recorded "Johnny are you Queer". It sound really good. Electra never let her use her song for anything all these years. She couldn't even put it on her myspace.
@MrChiliWillie FUNNY! Drop the punk version and let Josie do a highly produced and polished New Wave version for a major motion picture. How dare the Go-Go's sell out... lol
The Baqs stuff I have from the same night as the Go Go's is a 4-5 15 second clips of different songs. I will get around to posting in a few weeks. Thanks for reminding me!

There is forgiveness in Christ.. homosexual sins are no greater than hetero sins. Call upon The Name of Christ for forgiveness.
