Yes -- THIS is the real theme song. Never mind the other clips here; this is the one I remember. the rest are spin-offs, retreads, reimaginings, but not the real thing.
Another aspect that would have caused lesser musicians than Hammer to buckle under pressure is when producers say;" No re-cycled music because you are tapped for ideas"! The music of Hammer was ground breaking because, it spoke for the characters when there was no dialogue; and not just during action sequences! this was an important factor in producing a musical cop show that played through like an MTV video along with the trade mark style, often dark themes drama and totally styling action!
Jan was a total professional seasoned live performer and a studio genius long before he met Beck! If anything I would say Beck learned more from Jan. Remember recording each episode of "Miami Vice" was the equivalent of doing an album; Beck at is best would never in his dreams be able to keep up with the creative out pour that was the genius of Hammer. Not many people outside the fans of "Vice" have really considered the sheer pressure Hammer was constantly under in that little house of his!
put this in your car like we use to in the 80's loud very very loud and your right foot just goes down you cannot control it its as natural as the sun rising every morning.and you start driving across the white lines on the road.
