Can't disagree with your general comments re Ray Price... he's gifted by the Almghty... and is one of the Best Male Country Vocalist, in my life time... however, The Singing Sheriff, Faron Young, singing Four in the Morning, and Eddie Arnold, singing Make the World Go Away, Marty Robbins come to mind when I recall their best vocal efforts... they are/were equally talented and I enjoy listening to all... Mav
@Maverick19431001 I sure do not disagree with MOST of what you say. Ray IS one of the best male vocalists in my life too. I just do not put Faron Young in my all time favorites but Eddy Arnold IS. I do not care as much for Make The World Go Away as I do for Bouquet of Roses, Cattle Call or any of the many hits he had that were pure country. Marty is also one of my all time favorites. Thanks for your comment and time spent. Have a good day.
Ray's the best ever. no one could sing a song as smooth as him...well, maybe Jim Ed Brown, Jim Reeves or Bill Anderson or...alright alright. But Ray's truly one of the GREATEST ! Mr. Mellow, but he was so multi-talented he could tear up a dance hall with his renditions of any other song in his gritty Honky-Tonk style. The first rocker? He still sounded great on Huckabee's show a while back. Anyway, Long live the Cherokee Cowboy !!
Not just great, I must say one of the Greatest ever! if not THE Greatest. So suave & debonair. Mr. Mellow to be sure, at least on this song & For the Good Times. But he was so multi-talented he could tear up the dance hall with his honky-tonk renditions of other great songs & brought new life to them. Long live Ray !! My gosh yer good !!
It's been wonderful to see Ray here at Renfro Valley, Kentucky several times in the past few years. He has always had a great band backing him and is so classy looking. I don't know how I will sound when I turn 84 as Ray is but one thing for sure is that Ray sounds as good as ever and I feel even better than when he was 30 years old. True talent never grows old. Thank you again Marcus. Paula (formerly Paulina Rena)
@twinPaula12 The guy sounds better than most of the young whippersnappers recording in Nashville today, even if he is in his 80s. Glad you enjoy Ray. So that's who you are. I remember you back then.
This has always been one of my favorites of Ray's. His warm and romantic voice just makes this song one of the greatest ones ever recorded. Thanks Mark for passing this link along. I've loved Ray ever since I heard him sing years ago. He's the cream of the crop. After seeing him in concert a number of times it's wonderful to know that this truly talented artist is still entertaining all of us, his many fans. Thanks Marc for posting this treasure. - Paula (Kentucky)
@twinPaula12 Yes, I do think he has the ideal voice for many love songs and of course for the several that Kris Kristofferson penned and Ray recorded. I saw him on TV about a month or so ago. I THINK it was on Huckabee with the Little Rockers. I hope to get around to some of his HUGE hits soon.
Thanks. I am sure that the healing process would go along quicker and more smoothly if Esmarelda the cat would stop using the bandage as a scratching post...lol!
Hi,my favourite of the Ray Price songs that I have heard.
I would think a few have tried to copy him,but I can't think of anyone with a more ideal voice for these type of songs.Matt Monroe had a beautiful voice with feeling for ballads but I never heard him sing Country.
Many ballad singers have beautiful correct voices, but somehow can't put in the emotion,Ray Price had all three.

@StevieB1362 He is sure an icon. Sounds good even at the age of 80 or 81. I saw that show and he is just so impressive.

@StevieB1362 He is a legend and he did not get a great deal of credit for being innovative.
