@MadScientist1011 this is an older version. The interrupter circuit still works on a 9V battery here. The switch is used to turn the circuit on and off so the battery doesn't drain.
It's pretty bad idea to run it at so high power ... you can actually hear how pressure is rising and the temperature ... I've tried this with light bulb and result was - well I thing you can imagine yourself what happened :D

Umm in case you didn't know, nitrogen is an inert gas. Inert meaning that it doesn't react, and since combustion is a chemical reaction nitrogen is far from flammable.
