The Fair Lawn Watertower. Good God. I remember that tower as a kid back in Hawthorne I used to live in. The letters were upper cases back in the 70's. I remember being driven back and fourth on 208. Now, I live close to the Jersey Shore. Over 30 years now.
This song's been stuck in my head for the last 24 years. Thanks for clearing it up and letting me hear it in its entirety, since the only part I remembered was the "draw a map and you'll find me, I can make an inch stand for a mile!"
Coming from Fair Lawn, NJ, this video RULED and I nearly DIED when I saw it originally on Square One back in the day. The train tracks were probably the ones crossing Morlot Ave., and continuing down Morlot Ave, you cross Rt. 208, and reach the iconic blue Fair Lawn water tower. The man in this video must have lived somewhere off Morlot. My grandparents lived on Nicholson Dr., which was also not far from the tower. COOL VIDEO. Fair Lawn was about an hour from New York, on a good day.
@DanZero77 I used to live in Hawthorne back in the 70s. I remember that towert quite well. There was another one on the other side of 208 further away. But it's gone. Make me wonder when this iconic tower was first built.
LOL "Arthur" lives right off Rt. 208 in Fairlawn, NJ! I remember watching this when I was a kid and going, "Hey that's the way to my aunt's house!" (she lived in Wyckoff at the time). Those tracks must be for the Bergen County Line ;-)
But coming from New York the best route would be Rt. 4 to 208(from the GW Bridge).
For two people who live less than twelve miles apart, you'd think that they never see each other. Plus--how did that piece of paper stay in her car with the top down?!
I used to do the little hand motions when I would sing along. There was something about this song, the way he drew the map, I don't know what, but I was in love with this song.
This is what I was watching when the Loma Prieta earthquake hit in 1989 (the one that delayed the World Series and made a section of the Bay Bridge fall down).
Oh my god.. I was watching the same thing, and I was living in Oakland at the time.(I was 9) What a coincidence. Simultaneous math edutainment/earthmoving tremors.

I wonder why her directions didn't fly out of her car since she was driving a convertible :)

I love SQ1 but why did he not just write the names of the streets and directions on which way to turn...lol
kylieminogue100 2 years ago
She may not know the names of the streets, or they may not be posted.

I liked this video because of the storyline, good love story. I think Arthur and Luisa made a cute couple on screen.
In my opinion, I think it is Luisa singing. I mean if everyone else from the regular cast could sing/rap good, why couldn't she?

So, if he was at the house when he drew the map, how did he get the map to her so she could find the house? Wasn't this before faxes?
dawn2718 4 years ago
He mailed it well in advance.

To (attempt to) answer the Submitter's question, I don't think that's Luisa's voice, but I'm not sure.
