  • its a jk end of story shit box lol

  • it might be the tail jack screw, "did you here that" !?!?!

  • why is it when im looking at the death wobble videos i always see mopar

  • That is SHIT, yOU AINT FELT THE dEATH wOBBLE BOY. YOU AINT FELT SHIT.

  • @damnedboner I agree. If that had been the death wobble I have been experiencing, He would have been standing on the brakes and, holding on for dear life.

  • Its the PITMAN ARM!!!

  • Looks to me like the resonant frequency of the springs. Have you tried different springs?

  • Have someone in the jeep turning the wheel while you look under it, and look up at the track bar bracket that bolts to the frame and most likely that bracket will flex... That is most likely your problem. It does this because the aftermarket ones are all flat, and the stock ones actually have a rib in them. It is really hard to explain, but once you look at the difference between the brackets, you will know what I am talking about.

P.S. One way to solve it is to weld the bracket to the frame.

  • @1971elcamino350 good point......i never wouldve thought about the trackbar since all the trucks ive had death wobble in didnt have them

  • I've been told adjustable control arms can solve the death wobble problem. Hopefully once i install my 4" lift on my zj i won't end up running into this problem.

  • i was wheelin in a jeep cherokee w/2in lift today im fixin to buy with a horrible death wobble, any estimate as to how much to fix? i think its combination of tie rod end and wheel bearing

  • Sometimes it takes awhile to learn you drive a "Just Empty Every Pocket" i went through the same step to find out it was the tires, and you have to get rotations and balances for preventive maintenance.

  • First things first.. Is it a Ford?

  • @CaptainCultivate omg.... dude its a Jeep -_-" Chrysler

  • @CaptainCultivate answer is no.....now for your question, did you actually WATCH the video? if you did then are you braindead????

  • Replace all your ball joints, tie-rod ends, and your steering stabilizer. Make sure they're all tight and torqued down to proper specifications, and make sure your caster is correct for the vehicle. Then align it... I suppose, though, that it could be wear in the steering box?

  • my 89 3.0 sas 4runner w/ 36/13.5 iroks was perfect when first built, but death wobbles me off the road unless i adjust the toe really wide. but now my tires are gone. Components are pretty tight. I dont know what to do, i even have the TG ram assist w/sixshooters..

  • @aktoyjumper have a well known fab shop check the caster on your axle, it is the most common cause for the wobble.........bad caster can cause premature wear on ALL the other parts in the axle leading to death wobble

  • @cgspeeddemon1 I found out that the trail gear 6 shooter knuckles are really weak and after disassembly found that my trunion bearing center pins were sheared off! my tire could have folded at any time when driving. i found an upgrade pin that is chromoly and can be machined in.

  • @aktoyjumper damn you got lucky, besides the damage that wouldve resulted had you lost the wheel at highspeed think of the personal injury you, a loved one, or an inoccent driver on the road may have had.........they shouldn't alow someone to sell such an important upgrade unless it will hold up to 300% expected stresses

  • I drive a 2.5l wrangler with 33' pro comp mud terrains and 4' lift and i don't ever get wobbles. But my dad drives a 4.0l with 3.5' lift and 33's and it wobbles like crazy. Especially in the rain..

  • please bail me out of jail

  • @Lillkf

    LOL

  • Oh Jester....such a fool. I have been replacing and changing parts since July when I bought my 2005 F250 used. NEW tires...right outta the box. And yes, alignment, balance blah blah. New brakes and rear calipers, New Steering Box, New wheel assembly hub (one piece bearings for '05). New shocks (Bilsteins). IT IS A NIGHTMARE. And this video is CALM compared to my headache.

  • @JestersWord75 ....Ha...I've replaced the trac bar & steering dampers. Then I got a re-alignment.Yes.....It's the goddamn tires.I've been to the point to where I was ready to beat the hell out of my jeep w/ a sledge hammer & then set fire to the damn thing!!!!

  • @JestersWord75 really??? you sure you shouldnt check the most obvious first? i dont even waste my money on balancing the tires or putting a stabilizer on my steering yet i dont have a problem with death wobble.......granted on factory trucks that see little off road driving tires is a common cause but that doesnt mean you shouldnt fix all the other worn out parts too.

  • Thta's nothing.. it's only going to get worse!! :(

  • I love how everyone is so sure about it coming down to just one part to fix it. It CAN be just one part to fix it( track bar, stabilizer, alignment, balancing, wheel bearings, etc.) but it could also be a combination or all of the above. Find out where the play is on these parts and save yourself time and money by figuring out what YOUR specific problem(s) are.

  • you think thats bad i did this on a yz 250 doin 80Ks.....

i was fuckin shttin it when the whole bike starts shackin and caring on lol

  • yeah try it in a 97 2500 dodge ram its scares the shit outta yah lol need a new track bar meybe ball joints and yeah an alignment lol

  • I replaced my lower control arms, new track bar, steering stabilizers, etc...

I had it aligned twice by two different shops and it didn't help at all.

New tires fixed the problem. The sidewalls were too flimsy on my stock ones. Load range E tires fixed it.

Steering dampeners just mask the problem and prevent the triggering of DW. You need to find the root cause. In my case it was tires.

Just wish i knew that before i dumped $1,500 into other parts.

  • I used to have the same problem with my 05 nissan patrol. it was bad steering dampeners

  • My DW was bad with my old 30" tires. I got 31" tires and it went away. However, it's starting to come back slowly and I have like 15k miles or less on the tires.. It can't just be the tires. Seems like everything just masks the problem

  • @Sieran83

hey man i get death wobbles in my truck and ive had everything done and checked , i also think its my tyres. its crazy when it kicks in lol

  • @Sieran83 best answer ive seen on the wobble issue, IF IT WOBBLES FIX IT, dont mask it with stabilizers! thanx for the vid.

  • I have this same problem with my 2000 grand cherokee.... it sucks, i try not to drive it on the freeway... Im gettin the steerin stabilizers too from kevins offroad. They said they have fix many death wobbles with the extra stabilizer.

  • Comment removed

  • My Grand Cherokee is exactly the same.....

    Usually at about 40-50 mph....

    Scares the shit outta me.

But mine's not even lifted, just has 31s on it

(yes, they do fit.... but with the snowflake style wheels, the tire will rub the lower trailing arms in very tight corners)

  • omg i just installed my 7 inch lift on my grand cherokee 2 weeks ago and jesus death wobble scares the shyt outta mee my friends dont want to drive with me anymore i ordered 3 steering stabilizers and im waiting to put them on hopefully ittle fix the problem u can get it at kevins offroad

  • I have the same problem on my 96 jeep cherokee. The only difference is that it happens on any bump, even the sewer plate covers on the roads. And it usually happens at lower speeds... very scary.
