I have made a real hat fit with the mask. when i forgot my plate hat. NEVER turn your hat backwards! I will never respect an umpire that does.

Well yeah, but the mask that he puts on doesn't look the same as the MLB ones. I know when I played youth ball, the umps always had their hats backwards because the mask didn't accommodate the hat's bill.

they have special hats. no joke. the bill is about half the size of a normal hat. real hats wont fit.

@SkateSolutions Yes, I can get my mask off with a six-stitch or eight-stitch hat (unless I'm wearing my Wilson "New View" mask, which only works with a ≤6-stitch). Look at MLB umpires (lots of pics on google). All of them wear at least six-stich hats and none of them ever wears them backwards. They even make four-stitch brim hats for umpires. Wearing your hat backwards makes you look like a slob, and umpires shouldn't look like slobs, especially if they're going to post on YouTube as "experts."

Joke. Not what a ump should be. Biggest thing, a good umpire to me is one that articulates themselves in a conversation. If you have a guy like him, he just has a ignorant way how of he talks. He seems like one of those guys that would do a high kick on a strike three to get noticed.

I admire your love for the game, your honesty and integrity come thru on this video. One thing you say in this clip is......"You gotta put up w/ what everybody says".......To a degree this is true, but REMEMBER......They (players, coaches, fans) will get away with whatever you let them get away with.

Be firm, but fair. Take charge and be in charge, and remember, umpires don't eject players, coaches, and fans. THEY eject themselves.

Tough to button up the shirt...when it is a zipper. But, when behind the plate, leaving the shirt open like that is something a lot of upper level umpires do. Helps the shirt fit better near the chest, without having to look too bulky everywhere else.

Hat forward or hat backward. This guy had energy. At the level this guy is umpiring, that is all that matters. Energy and love of the game. He has that.

Well, if you watch all the videos he takes the fun concept too far. It's one thing to have fun, it's another thing to make it into a clown show. Kids would rather feel apart of something important than to have a super happy fun time umpire. I tend to go towards mostly professionalism out there. Especially when tournaments comes, if you're all fun, they won't understand when they're chosen for the all-star team and suddenly the umpires are taking it a little more serious.
