I like Herry though he looks scary. Since he's a good monster inside as seen in other Seasame Street flicks. This probably is Herry's first appearance since the first time I saw him he's nose was pink.
I wonder if this is the first skit that Ernie and Herry met since neither one of them said each other's name, and Herry was talking to Ernie in a rude way probably also thinking that Ernie was a thief (since he doesn't know him, that is, if this was the first skit they met) and that Ernie was trying to steal his ball.
True, he might've went to get a drink but, if that's what he was going to do, he should've taken his ball with him so no one will take it, or he could've put his name on the ball just so Ernie or anyone else will know that the ball belonged to Herry.
Well there even was a time when Luies turned on the radio and Zoe kept turning it off because she said it was a waste of energy but Luies said he would only be back in a few minutes. So in a sense I can see some resemblence.
Herry:"This ball you,re gonna take home is round and yellow and large and smooth and what else?!" Well if I was Ernie I would say it,s round and yellow and large and smooth and rubber and filled with air. :D
Back then they really gave Jim and the guys alot of freedom, today since they own the Muppet characters for the show, they make everything pretty much child friendly and corny. _Eric
Probably, but isn't that the point? It's the lesson of not taking things that don't belong to them. Besides, Herry is always a big mush under that rough exterior. 5 stars!
Actually, Herry is the replacement monster for "Beautiful Day Monster" and more kids got scared of "Beautiful Day Monster" because in some skits he scared Kermit away (and even roared loudly on the skits with Kermit which fogged up the screen), and in other skits he scared Ernie away and even stole some things from Ernie (like a piece of chocolate cake). So I guess Herry has some love in his heart with some people and even stars in some skits with young kids which is why he wasn't retired early
One of my all-time favorites. Thanks for posting it.

This was an early appearance for Herry, but not the first. He originally had a blue nose that was covered with fur.

Blue-nosed Herry was scary. Methinks when they changed to the purple nosed model, they also went for a less scary look & personality.

Well, he did have a temper there, but Ernie was about to just claim his ball for his own. And he did invite Ernie to play catch!

What's this from, early 70's?

i think you are right, Herry's nose was still blue in the early 70's, i think they made his nose purple in the mid 70's.

It's a wonder CTW/Sesame Workshop didn't retire Herry earlier; the way he roars "It's MINE!" and "Come back here!" probably scared a lot of kids.

Well he was not the only one yelling on SS.
Although in this case he could of said Ernie that's mine especially since he knew Ernie pretty well.
