@1231abdulmannan If the other computer is on the same local network then no, neither computers need an internet connection. If you're trying to do it across the internet then obviously both will need an internet connection.
Hey, quick question. Can't be bothered with dynamic DNS setup unless I really need to. So what about over a VPN? in my case i'm in uni and require programs from home. I have my PC at home turned on with my VPN to uni on. My internal IP is static what about my VPN IP?
is it safe to use desktop remote control on any kind of device? im just curious because if i can control my desktop from other devices could that be possible that other people can grant access to my computer without my knowing with their devices?
@SkyfalconTin Unless you open up ports on your router, it'll only be accessible from your local network anyway. Even then, you need a password when you try to connect.
hey nice video very informitve, but when i got to system properties and remote i do not have the remote desktop settings listed, how do i enable the computer to have those settings, if that made any sense at all
i seem to have a problem with allowing remote connection onto my own computer. it seems that when i go "remote" in "system properties" i have the first box "remote assistance" but not "remote desktop" and the three options below that. is there some other way i can access the "allow" option?
Hi jake! thanks for your very professionnal video, it worked well for me.
The only trouble is that I wanted to use remote desktop to teach beginners (show them live what to do and see on my computer how they deal with problems and so on...)
With remote desktop when I connect from my mac to the other pc, it log the pc out and only then i have control but my student doesn't see what I do. Do you have any solution to be both watching at the same screen? Thanks a lot
Some of the steps in this video are not reqiured to set up remote desktop connection. For instance the IP network settings can be left on "obtain my IP automatically" and same for the DNS and it will still wrok the same.
Hello, I can connect remotely using through my local network, but when I try to connect through the internet, I get an error message. What can I do to connect via Internet?
hey Jake Wright, Thanks for the video, a very Good Video. I have a question though, If You have a static ip which is shared by ISP to many homes/offices , Then How do i go about it. Also is there any means to Secure your PC using some sort of Encryption ( Like Putty ) when you RD over Internet , Thank You.
This looks like it will help a lot of people! Fortunately, using Windows all my life I can pretty much work out what to do in any Windows release, so Remote Desktop Connection is easy for me. Brilliant video though, 5 stars!
thank you! this helped a LOT! 5/5 *'s

@jaketvee at RDC you say quick: put :3389 behind it. Is this at every pc, or is this code different in other country, network or pc??
rubeniscoolful 1 month ago
@rubeniscoolful That's the port used by RDP; it's always going to be the same unless you change it manually.

@Acellio Yeah, professional and ultimate only I'm afraid. Any version can RDP another computer though.

@blaverte Yeah, RDP does that. Try VNC, or if you want an easier solution, LogMeIn or TeamViewer.
