  • i was told with obese patients laporascopic may not be possible so after making 4 small incisions if things don't go well they proceed with a regular incision and do it the other way.

    nissen fundo is irreversible. some patients will have to continue taking meds, some for the rest of their lives.

  • the laparoscopic aproach for the treatment of GERD in obese patients, requires skillfull and highly trained surgeons. Those who performs this kind of operations, also performs laparoscopic obesity surgery which is very simmilar. The results and the outcome of the procedure is the samme in both "open" and laparoscopic approach

  • lap procedures dive under the fat, making the operation somewhat easier, and with less problems with abdo wall hernias
