  • that little boy is destined to be a superb performer! did you see how quickly and subtely he recovered his chair when it was knocked into the wrong position! wow

  • I don't understand why people say ballet is gay. Ballet dancers are strong! They have to lift another human being and look like it's the easiest thing on earth! Now that's my kind of guy!! Besides, how many women complain that their man is clumsy? Ballet dancers on the other hand are graceful.

"but they wear tight clothing!" So what I say!! So do elite athletes! and no one says they are gay for wearing tight shorts, so why is this any different?

I hope future generation will realize all this.

  • @SuperColette11 And gay people can't be strong. yeah. right.

  • Comment removed

  • @datispasdavid That's not what she meant. Pretty sure she wasn't making a point on homosexuality and whether or not gay people are strong... but clearly if people are ignorant enough to believe all the stereotypes around ballet, they wont think gay men can be strong. When I watch a man dance, it don't care about his sexual orientation, his tastes in music, what he ate for breakfast... I just watch him dance and respect the amount of work and passion behind what I am seeing.

  • @SuperColette11 they say that because they can't help being conscious of the sensuality of all that hard work. it embarrasses them to think that anyone would put so much effort into simply being beautiful. (and of course the idea that *men* might be beautiful is simply horrifying to people like that)

    But whatever, as they say.

  • Extraordinary!!! Thank's a lot Emoke.

  • the chair goes... WEEEEEEE!!!!

  • I saw this musical on Broadway yesterday, and Alex Ko was Billy. I was so absolutely stunned with his skill in dancing and acting that I was almost in tears at this seen. Billy Elliot is absolutely one of the best musicals ever done on Broadway.

  • I just saw the play, twice. In Seattle, and Portand. The boy who plays Billy, Giuseppe Bausilio, was absolutely brilliant in this dance. He brought the house down. A thirteen year old boy with such power and grace. Nothing but respect to all the boys who play this part. If you haven't seen the play, then go see it.... It's Amazing....

  • This is not the best billy sadly...he messes up a few times. But until you have tried ballet-you will not understand how are a lot of this is! Especially at his age!

  • 3:34 - 4:18

    GOD THAT LOOKS LIKE FUN!!!!

  • did he stuff up or was it just me?

  • @kurtravic yeah at 0:49 it could have been a lot worse though :)

  • In the one I saw, the older Billy accidentally dropped the chair.

  • @miep8675 the one I saw, the younger Billy accidentally dropped the chair. How common would you say it is?

  • Billy Elliot is amazing!!! I saw it yesterday in the west end and Rhys Yeomans was doing it!!!! He was so amazing I can't describe it! And he's only been dancing since he was 9 and now he's 12! The version I saw was slightly better and he didn't drop his chair but still absolutely incredible!

  • Thanks so much for sharing. :) Is there like an official DVD for Billy Elliot The Musical that we can purchase?

  • Yikes! Hätt' ich so etwas jemals live erlebt, ich wäre stumpf zerflossen, nicht mal einen Haufen, sondern nur 'ne nasse Pfütze bildend..!

  • this scene made me cry when i went to see it :)

  • This musical is so amazing !!! I've been there a few monthes ago and... i can't explain my feelings, but it was fantastic !!!

  • I love this part, the music is great and I like the dance so much combined with that chair ánd the almost complete synchrone (I mean like he goes left his "older version" goes left on the same moment, idk what's the right word sorry) dance with his older version <3

  • this brought me to tears how beautiful!

  • i was in this show, the older guy is called barnaby, hes my friend XD

  • what is the name of this song??? please answer my question...

  • Swan Lake - Tchaikovsky

  • when i first saw this scene i thought the chair was some super chair that spins on its own lol

also.. i didint notice the string attached to billy;s back until the older billy let him go.. haha im so stupid

  • th bit at 3:31 is exactually th same song just gon through th song

  • Comment removed

  • are excellent

  • ruthie. did you film this yourself? i've seen the broadway version 6 times and would love to see the london version.

  • lets think - it is live - they only have a very short time to get the fog in and it is only a very small part of a wonderful production..

  • me cae que estas bien pendejo

  • from 3:31 what is the name of the song cause i cant find it anywhere

  • I can't find it anywhere either, I really want to download it!

  • Turns out it's the Act I finale to "Swan Lake."

  • @JohnnyCat1980 Act 5. It's the very end of the ballet. And I believe this is a reference to the Matthew Bourne version, which is danced by men as the swans instead of women.

  • It is from Opera Schwanensee

  • @03campj maybe you can`t find it because you keep calling it a song. You don`t deserve to have it until you learn the difference between an instrumental piece, and a song, which of course, has a worded line, if it has voice but no words, then it`s just a vocalise.

  • @GEF69 calm down! some people arn't into music like others and there for don't know the differences between this and that

  • it's beautiful

  • Anybody know if this is domonic playing the older billy ??

i went to see one at london when i was at school about year and half ago and inot sure which one wa playing but i know dom was the older billy then just wondering ?? .

  • i saw it wen ollie gardner was playing billy elliot he was amazing !!!

  • some of the best seats are right at the top at the very back as you can lean forward and see the stage perfectly and you are still very close to the stage

  • @ Lucedance

Get a real life the boys are protraying, Boys that want to be Dancers at 12 years NOT Trained dancers what bit of this musical went over your head ??

  • Why not? :) It should be compulsory viewing for all fathers who have sons to instil in them to support their boy in anything positive they want to do with their lives. I became an even better father because of this production.

  • does he mess up at 0:50?

  • looks like it

  • Yep

  • There aren"t words that I can express with the amazement of a mixture of fellings of delight & happiness that I feel from this. Thank You

  • David and Kiril are amazing. David especially is so graceful during this scene.

  • wow! i saw this the day b4 yday & it was AMAZING!!!! this guy stuffed up @ the start.. :( it would Bso hard.....

  • Yes, I do ballet, jazz and some modern, not professionally because I started too late for that. But I work in a theatre where there is a professional dance company, so I have always a very good example in front of my eyes. You should go back...I cound stay without my ballet lessons

  • There's no such thing as starting too late to dance professionally! You should go for it!

  • The reality is different. Nobody takes you in a professional company without a good ballet technique. I saw dance castings in our local theatre....no way to pass the castings without perfect ballet

  • With boys this age I find it miraculous that they can walk and chew gum, let alone dance even a little. Good on them. They will grow into it, or out of it with training.

  • I just found a video on youtube with liam mower performing a piece from the musical. I think he is techniqually more advanced than the others boys I saw.

  • That kid probably had a ton of fun on that harness.

  • Have you people seen real and professional ballet dancers?? I have seen the musical in London this weekend, and now I see this part here again. The ballet parts are all technically weak!!With this boy and also the boy I saw in London. They should choose better dancers.

  • They put the boys through long training programs, as pretty much no boys at this age know how to do ballet, tap and modern dance really well. Not to mention gymnastics, singing and acting. Many of the boys chosen to play the part are already award-winning dancers (Josh Fedrick, Oliver Taylor, Trent Kowalik, Kiril Kulish...) I think you're expecting a wee bit much from these kids.

Also, yes, I have seen "real and professional ballet dancers."

  • Dont think so, the boy I saw was pretty bad in ballet compared to Liam Mower or the broadway billys. So there are boys who can do it in the proper way without disappointing those under the audience who know ballet. And I was disappointed!

  • I'm not sure what you mean by "don't think so."

Some of the boys come to the auditions with no ballet training. Some of them are tap dancers or modern dancers and the show is geared to their strengths, but they all have to do Swan Lake.

Liam Mower was trained almost solely in ballet, so yes he is one of the best at it. Since you mentioned the Broadway Billys: Trent Kowalik was one boy who had no ballet training when he auditioned.

  • With "I dont think so" I mean that I dont agree that boys of that age cant do ballet. There are some that can do it, and as they have to do swan lake, they should be chosen taking care of this detail. I dont know which broadway boys I saw. I saw a video here on youtube with three boys performing and they seemed very good to me. So, personally, if I have to see a show were there is ballet, I want good ballet. Otherwise music like swan lake or Elton John's electricity lose all beauty and energy

  • I didn't write that boys that age can't do ballet well. I wrote that is very hard to find boys at that age who can do ballet, tap, modern, gymnastics, act and sing. They cast them based on all of these things. They can't cast someone who is great at ballet and terrible at acting and singing.

You should look up Colin Bates, Oliver Taylor, Kiril Kulish and David Alvarez. From what I can tell, they are the best at ballet of the Billies (aside from Liam).

  • Ok, maybe you are right, but nevertheless I hate to see bad ballet. So are there videos on youtube of these boys? Why do you know so much about Billy Elliot?

  • Haha. well, I like the show and have never been able to see it. I don't live in NY, London or Australia, so youtube is basically the only way I get to watch clips of it. I'm not crazy-obsessed or anything :)

Yeah, if you just youtube their names plus Billy Elliot, there should be videos of all of them. Kiril Kulish and David Alvarez are two of the Broadway Billies. They both only did ballet before auditioning. I hope you enjoy them more:)

  • Ok, thanks. I will check the other boys. Do you do ballet?

  • I did ballet and tap for five years when I was younger. I've thought about getting back in to it, but not professionally. I assume you do?

  • im not from scotland and i am 16 i wanted to see this for my birthday and i was taken to london to see it last friday and i am a lover of the art but i have never felt connected to a performance except for this one this is uniqe and i can see this being played for a good few more years i really do urge anyone and everyone to see this.and after watching this i would suggest paying the extra £30 or $ to sit down in the stalls about 8-12 rows from the stage far better connection to the performance

  • Unfortunately, after flight tickets and hotels I simply just don't have the extra money to pay extra for stall seats, which sucks.

  • well i saw trent kowaik and he was good i guess

i feel like such a loser for commenting on this by hey it was a good show

  • look at it this way...the boy is supposed to be 11 or 12? how many 11 or 12 yr old boys do you know that can dance that well? cut him some slack from all of us none dancers out there its still fantastic

  • ????????????????

  • MAGNIFIQUE, EXCELLENT

  • stupid whoever's head at the right of the screen. grrr!!!!!

  • Magic!

  • Thank god for pirates. Omage!

  • buy it off itunes you cheap skate!

  • wie lange geht das daaaaa?

  • 4:18

  • xD lol!

  • What is the song called? I know it's from Swan Lake but what is it actually called because it's beautiful and I also danced to it in a show as a child.

  • Its Swanlake act 1 i think

  • i love the way this scene is set...with the dry ice/smoky stuff pouring in and just the two spotlights...its magical, and even better live!

  • wtf! come into the 21st century. only men who are insecure about their own sexuality would make such a ridiculuos comment. we should nurture the talents are kids have, no matter what the gender! these days, activities shouldnt be seperated into the "feminine and masculine", and its only the minority of oldfashioned gents like yourself who do seperate them.

  • @actressindemaking I agree with you, besides years and years ago when all these art-forms started, only men were able to do any of the roles, opera, theatre, ballet. And their societies looked down on homosexuality more than we did. So I agree its not gay, its perfectly fine for people to be who they want to be. Or more to the the point who they are, anyone can do Ballet if they want.

  • @actressindemaking I fully agree. My close friend got told that he was gay just because he plays clarinet, and he is one of the best in our county, and the best at my school. I really hate it when people sterotype. It gets on my nerves. But I fully agree. :)

  • @matt22luke Hip-hop is a boys dance usually, my best friend Sarah is the best hip-hop dancer her studio ever saw, my cousin Kayla does boxing and my best friend ever Ayden does ballet and he's as good as Billy, if not better! It doesn't matter HOW you nurture them, if they were born gay that's how they would be, if they want to be a ballet dancer when they are male, let them! For the love of ballet, it doesn't matter their sex, ballet if an art, if they want to partake in it, LET.THEM!

  • I wanna sky-dive too! =D

Damn.. I wished I could do a pas de deux with that young man (not billy.. the other one) ^^

    ..amazing!

  • At 1;52 he takes a stumble with the chair

  • the fist part is from swan lake, i don't know about the second part tho (the one when he starts flying)

  • ive seen this play 4 times, and i love it more every time :)

the atmosphere in this scene is so overpowering, and the talent those boys have - wow!

  • what is the name of the song? i wanna download it!

  • swan lake

  • watched it last month, was amazing!

  • Comment removed

  • no this is swan lake. Its the finale "i think" but if you watch the ballet, you'll recognise the theme throughout the score.

  • Comment removed

  • No, Firebird is a ballet by Stravinsky, this is Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky!

  • take it from someone who has performed firebird live

this is swan lake. your confusing this with the berceuse in firebird...thats a bassoon solo, this is an oboe...

  • WOW! they're very well synchronised! ^__^ So beautiful! XD

Watching This Makes Me Want To See It Again!

I Miss It Heaps I Had Rarmian He Was Great I Was In 3rd Row & Had Amazing Seats Rarmian Walked Right Next To Me! The Male Dancer In This Scene Is An Amazing Dancer!

I Advise Anyone Who Hasn't Seen It To Do So Now!

  • I wish this was the whole thing! Also, I have a question....what's the second part where the music changes, what part of Swan Lake is that from? I know the first part, but when he starts flying, it changes...but I don't know what it's called. Can someone help me out please? I'd much appreciate it =)

  • i believe that music is from 4th act of Swan Lake again - Tchaikovsky as well of course

  • Thank you :)

  • the most beautiful dance sequence i've ever seen!!!!!

  • I couldn't see it when he went really high because we were in the stalls (oh yes...good seats for the ground stuff- which in all honesty was everything but this). In the finale trent (who was billy when i went) walked right near us, unfortunately, i was still crying from the letter!
