@PhilUSAFRet The double puka sounded great once i changed he strings on it. This video was shot 15 minutes after opening it. I did prefer the koa top Mele. One of the best ukes I ever owned.. I regret letting that one go.
I think solid koa double puka didn't have the sound that your original seemed to bring out. Dont think the placement of the holes helps at all. Nice quality instruments though.
I remember you from the store lol. How's everything going? My facebook is facebook(dot)com/cudda.kine You sure do have one of the best Ukuleles out there. Thanks!!!
ONLY 440 for a solid koa double puka? Is this solid koa top? Are you sure it's solid? The only real full solid koa's I know that are cheap, are the smallest size of kamaka's lmao.
@808Productionz yep. The double puka had a repaired crack in the back that was repaired. I got a very nice discount on the ukulele. the ukulele had an original price tag of $999. Meles are a little less expensive than Kamaka, Koaloha, and Kanile'a. They are made in the Philippines and final set up is done on Maui. Very similar but better imo than Pono.
Loved those two ukes. I am going to Maui in Sept and am leaning to a Mele or a Pono. Leaning slightly to the Mele. Looking at a Concert. How do you like the Mele's??
I love the meles and would recommend highly over a Pono. Ponos aren't bad but I think that the Meles are almost as good as the Ks. I own a koaloha as well and i'll get a video up of a comparison as soon as I can. When you go to Maui go to Meles store and tell them haolejohn sent you. They have great prices.
maan, definitely digging the new double puka better, the other one being a tad bit on the bright side for my liking, but both excellent instruments, good comparison
Nice uke, not much base on the double puka, I like your old uke

@keonimanua - I have a Mele all koa tenor. Mele seems to prefer those Hilo strings....I'm not impressed with them...which strings did you change to?

@taygatruck I agree. I wish that I had never let that Mele go. My next Mele will be a koa top cut-a-way.
