However, JM is someone who will transcend into music history because of his ability to write. John Mayer is one of the most unique guitarists and songwriters about today. Not to say that Mayer doesn't have licks which aren't reminiscent of Hendrix licks, but this sounds more like some kind of fusion of Clapton ( its actually quite River of Tears-esk) and Jeff Buckley with a few other ingredients thrown in. He is also very diverse in his writing

@ScottPBMusic - I am sure he has many of the same influences as Hendrix, Hendrix basically took all his stuff from the old blues greats and clapton etc. as well. Then he added his own flavor and dirt to it to make it unique. Most blues/rock artists do the same, therefore there is many commonalities, this was a plain blues format song, nothing hendrix about it, but I can see things overlapping as they both have similar influences.
